  1. Hi,

Im just curious, just wanted to know from the US citizens on how much or to what extend are you willing to support your spouses? I mean what is customary here? Do you expect to manage your finances separately or have a common fund? What about the household expenses, who pays? or is there any customary sharing of expenses? How about sending children to college, do parents here normally provide for their children's education or let them work to send themselves to college?

    Thanks.

My husband and i have joint account. We pay our bills and everything out of that account. When i started working he asked me if i want to have my own bank account since i am earning my money, because he said if i want to ,he has no problem with it. But i said no, because to me as a couple we should share everything.

We don't have kids but if ever we will have one, we should definitely send him or her to College.

It depends on you and your spouse on how will you manage your expenses. You just need to talk on how you do it.

  2. Hi everyone! I just received my entire K-1 packet back in the mail from the Vermont Service Center with a letter stating that they would not process the packet because the fee is $535.00 instead of the $445.00 stated on www.travel.state.gov. Has anyone else received a letter like this? I'm not complaining because now I can check over the entire packet again to make sure all my i's are dotted and t's crossed but I would think that they of all people would have an updated website.

    Thanks,

    Johnny and Bethel

I didn't see any increase or changes in the filing fee for I-129F, it still $445.00 in USCIS website. Are you sure you filled out the right form?

check www.uscis.gov and click immigration forms.

  3. I hope this will help you.

    Maintaining Permanent Residence

Maintaining Permanent Residence You may lose your permanent residence status if you commit an act that makes you removable from the United States under the law in section 237 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. If you commit such an act, you may be brought before the immigration courts to determine your right to remain a Permanent Resident.

You may be found to have abandoned your permanent resident status if you:

Move to another country intending to live there permanently.

Remain outside of the US for more than one year without obtaining a reentry permit or returning resident visa. However in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year.

Remain outside of the US for more than two years after issuance of a reentry permit without obtaining a returning resident visa. However in determining whether your status has been abandoned any length of absence from the US may be considered, even if it is less than one year.

Fail to file income tax returns while living outside of the US for any period.

Declare yourself a “nonimmigrant” on your tax returns.

  4. Thats the way it is, we have nothing to do about it. So build a nice resume and go to Careerbuilder.com and Monster.com and apply.

Just in case you see a "help wanted" or " we're hiring" sign, don't approach just anybody in the premise where you see the sign, ask for the Manager or the Human Resources, these people can tell you what they are looking for and can tell you what website you can go to if they want you to apply online.

Just hang in there don't give up, theres a job in there somewhere waiting for you. Job Hunting for us immigrants are really tough plus the economic situation, its hard to find a job this days.

  5. Should I include the remittances to our evidence?coz one of the members was questioned by the CO why is she receiving

money from his fiance..She advised me better not to show it just to avoid further questioning..

Anyone has related experience or any ideas.. Pls. kindly share.

    Thanks.

I showed the money transfer receipts and our joint bank account, but the CO didn't asked me any questions about it.

  9. She can renew her passport through "passport direct" no need to go to the DFA office to renew her passport and its faster it only take 3 to 5 days in Manila Area, its a little expensive though. All she need is call 737-1000 or apply online. They will send a "2GO" delivery guy to pick up the payment and the old passport and let her review, sign and thumb mark the printed form which she filled out online or via phone, and the delivery guy will also deliver the new passport. By this process you can track your passport application anytime even on midnight.I paid PHP 1200 for mine when i applied for it , i don't know how much it will cost this time. This is the website:

Opps! im sorry i have a correction, there are some changes on the process because of the new machine readable passport, the thumbmark should be done personally on the DFA office but because she applied through passport direct she will be given a priority, she doesn't need to wait in line for hours.

  11. According to the New Philippine Family Code, the child who was born out of wedlock (illegitimate child) cannot carry the name of his biological father and the father cannot have the custody of the child unless he marry the mother or he file a claim to the court to recognize the child as his. An unmarried mother legally has the sole custody of her illegitimate child. So no need of father's consent.

  12. on the work authorization they ask for a I-94 number or alien registration number. we found something that says I-94 and there is a number called a departure number. It has 11 digets. would this be the I-94 number or is it something else? Also my wife is here on a k1 visa. Would she have an alien registration number?

Yes, the I-94 No. is the Departure number.

The Alien Registration No. aka A# can be found on her Visa (A#99-123-456)it can be located on the lower left portion of the visa.

  13. If you are flying Manila - Las Vegas, your POE will be Las Vegas, eventhough the plane will stop at Vancouver, you will be checked at the Las Vegas Airport. They will let you get out of the plane and let you stay at the waiting area which you can't do anything for one hour or so, while they are inspecting, refueling and cleaning the plane.

Las Vegas as POE is very hassle free and very comfortable, as long as you got everything, you will be out of there in 15 minutes.
