  1. Can my spouse (citizen) sponsor for my parents visitor visa as I lost my job (PR)?

My spouse is a US citizen and I am a PR. I recently lost my job and my parents have their interview scheduled next month. My spouse and I own a property and my spouse is currently employed. One of my parents is a retiree and the other was always stay at home, they have investments and own properties. But I am not sure if it is enough.
They will be staying with us so I am estimating the daily expenses should be around $50 per person, tops. Am I missing something?

    Any help is appreciated!

you have an IR1 from your status (heading for the post)

    so ,  u can work

have u received the actual green card yet?

I 551 stamp on visa acts as green card for a year

work how long outside the US?

as this affects your ability to naturalize later

do u have your SS # yet as that is needed to file IRS taxes as required

and the company needs your SS # to withhold the necessary federal taxes, medicare, and SS amounts

will u maintain a US residency during this work period?

I do have an IR1 visa and will be getting I 551 stamp at POE soon.

I also have SS # as I worked part time on F1 visa few years back.
I will be residing in US and work remotely for a foreign company. (The parent company is headquartered in US, however my employment would be in the form of a contract with its subsidiary in Europe).

I should have posted my question clearly, sorry about that!

Just to clarify, you say you're working for a US company's subsidiary while *outside* the US? If so, no work authorization is needed for that.

If you are working for a foreign company while you are in the US, the consensus here is that work authorization is required. I personally would argue that it's absolutely needed if it's a subsidiary of a US company as a US based contractor.

If you have work authorization such as an EAD or Green Card, then don't sweat it, it doesn't matter from an immigration perspective.

Work remotely while in the US. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I will be entering US soon on IR1 and I already have an SSN since I worked part time on F1 visa years back.

    Thanks for your response!

You do not need an EAD.  The holder of a valid immigrant visa is authorized for work immediately upon entering the US.  I see no rush in removing the statement on the SS card, but you can get the statement removed by showing your evidence of legal resident status to a local SS office.   With a stamped immigrant visa after arrival and a SS card, you could start work immediately.

Thank you for the lightning speed response, much appreciated!

  5. Hi,

I got my IR1 visa. I already have an SSN with "Valid for work only with DHS authorization", so I checked no in the DS-260 form. I understand from some posts that I need to remove these conditions upon arrival.

    1. What is the procedure to remove these conditions? Do I apply for EAD? Or approach local SSA office who might have some relevant forms?
    2. How long does it typically take between entering US and starting work? I already have a couple of job opportunities lined up but they might wanna know if it's worth the wait.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I don’t think that’s his (this was my first assumption the moment I saw Danielle Radcliffe) It is Harry Potter’s birth certificate. I just googled Danielle Jacob Radcliffe and search images you will see the same thing.

Thanks! I didn't know it was Harry Potter's as I didn't look 😅. I am glad OP was cautious anyway.

  8. Hello,

We are at NVC stage and submitting all documents.

I submitted PCC application with my current address which is also my permanent address.

However my passport contains old address from where I moved out.

On the PSK website when I check the documents it lists re-issuing of passport with current address as mandatory. Is it not enough to provide proof of current address? Re-issuing of passport-> change of passport number. Will this be a cause for concern?

Also I mentioned in the application that I am married. Will this cause a problem?

    Any help is much appreciated!
