  1. Hey all!

I had my interview at Federal Plaza today, wanted to share my experience!

I am a Brooklyn filer,  October 2020. Had my biometrics appointment a month ago (my bio appt was actually rescheduled twice: the first time it was canceled because of Juneteenth, the second time I rescheduled it because of international travel. It doesn't seem to have slowed down my application by more than a month or two).

The interview was painless - the worst part was waiting for an hour and a half to be called in. The interviewing official did not ask for any documents except for my green card, state ID and passport.  I had a binder full of tax documents but he didn't ask for them; also, I am currently unemployed and told him so, he didn't ask any further questions. I gave him a list of part time jobs that I had forgotten to include in my N400 and he added it to my file. There was a moment of confusion when I didn't remember what year we were in while going through my address history (I was very nervous lol) and he did ask me why my phone number did not have a NY area code (I lived in California on a student visa years ago but have only lived in NY for the past five years).

I got recommended for approval and am now in line for oath.

Oh, I applied under the 5 years rule and I am (was?) a DV lottery winner.

Best of luck to everyone preparing for their interview and if you have any questions, ask away!

  2. Hey all! October 2020 applicant here. My interview has been scheduled for September 7 at Federal Plaza. I am getting my documents together (did not expect it to be scheduled this quickly since I only did my biometrics last Monday!). I am applying based on the 5 year rule and was wondering if they are going to check my tax transcripts/returns? Does anyone have any recent interview experiences?

  3. Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone else was affected by the Juneteenth office closing?

My biometrics appointment was scheduled for today but the ASC is now closed. I am supposed to fly to Italy tomorrow (after already postponing because of the appt) and now I'm afraid they'll reschedule it while I'm away. I'm so furious that they gave such short notice!

  4. Hi all,

This morning I received an email regarding my biometrics appointment being scheduled for 6/18.

I am a Brooklyn filer and applied on October 9th, 2020.

It might be a coincidence but earlier this week I called the USCIS to ask them where my case was at. The person on the phone couldn't give me any new info but I think my phone call reminded them that I exist!

  5. Today I woke up to an "Action taken" notice and it turns out my in-person biometrics appointment is schedule for June 18th in Brooklyn, NY!

Some backstory: I called them a few days ago to ask where my case was at since I decided to spend the summer in Italy with my family and I'm leaving soon (I got a person on the phone by repeating "technical support" over and over, a tip I found somewhere on this forum). The lady on the phone couldn't give me any new information, then today I got the notice!

It might be just a coincidence but if you are in the same position I do think giving them a call might be a good idea.

Needless to say I had to postpone my already-booked flight to Italy but I'm so happy things are moving! Oh, and my estimate completion time now says 14 months 😏

  6. Hey guys,

the estimated completion time came back to my USCIS account. It now says: "Estimated time until case decision: approx. 11 months".

Makes me want to cry. I can't tell if it's 11 month since I applied or starting now but I assume it's starting now. I hope it really is just an estimate since I know that people who applied in August or September last year in my area are now getting interviews. Thoughts?

Yep. Used to say July 2021. Then the layout changed and it said "approximately 4 months". Now it doesn't say anything. Same happened with my friend filing in Denver.

I'm guessing it has something to do with how they're testing a new way to estimate processing times

I really hope we get an update soon. It adds to the general frustration that they're constantly making changes to the website instead of focusing on speeding things up! Although what do I know, maybe they're doing they're best

Hey guys, it's been 6 months now since I've applied and no biometrics reused or appointment yet. I'm beyond frustrated, should I try to call and see what's going on? I thought this would be the fastest process, guess I was wrong.

Same! I'm trying to work up the courage to call them over the next few days. It's funny how they keep changing the layout of the profile page on the Myuscis website but no real updates!

Called today after 140+ days of nothing.

The woman on the phone said they have reused my biometrics and that I should just wait for my interview to be scheduled.

She also said that it was being handled at the Montgomery office. This contradicts what they said on the email that it was being handled at the Birmingham office. That makes me think things are moving - or somebody gave me wrong info.

and there were no changes on your online status? Did they tell you why?

Hi there! I filed 10/1 and still haven't received bio notice either :( . I'm in Atlanta.

    Hey guys,

I'm in Brooklyn, NY. I filed 10/9 and haven't heard anything either. I'm waiting until January before I try to get in touch with them (I am also afraid of being scheduled while traveling but "thankfully" I'm stuck here until the Spring 😅)

  11. Hello everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster here! I am about to start the naturalization process and would love to connect with people who are going through the same steps - also, I do have a few questions. My N400 priority date is October, 10th, 2020. I am a DV lottery winner and I am applying based on the 5 years rule. I plan on applying online; I know you can pay by credit card - but what about debit cards?

Also, silly questions but can I start filling out the forms now, then save them and submit them when the time comes?

Best of luck to those of you waiting on your interviews!
