  1. It seems like you don't have experience with guns.

So, DO NOT BUY a gun before trying many different guns and calibers.

Go to a range where you can rent different guns and try several options.

    Couple of reasons:

What is the point of you buying a shotgun but you can't handle the recoil? FYI, shotguns in real life are quite different than in movies. real life = big recoil and you have to aim it.

What is the point of a 357 magnum if you are going to flinch and likely miss your target? real life = big recoil, big flash and deafening loud.

As I said, it is all relative, for example, I keep a 357 revolver and a CZ75 9mm loaded at home, but I also have a Ruger Mark III 22lr loaded for my wife. She can't handle my first choices, but I don't recommend being on the receiving end of her 1st choice.

Lastly, after you zero out and have your gun, make sure you practice, practice, practice and practice smart.

We, wife and I, practice, 3-4 times a month.

  2. Just curious as to how often you have been to the Philippines and seen how much things costs. I guess I am not curiput and you may call me bobo, but what I do for my fiancee and her family I do becasue I want to and can afford to. No one asks me for anything and I don't have her aunts, uncles, nieces or nephews asking for anything. She would not allow or tolerate it. I help her family ; i.e., mama, papa, and siblings because I want to, not because they want me too. When her father retires from the police force in 2 years, he will have a large retirement paid at once nad then I won't have to do anything. Amping.

You can read my replies to others on your posts. Take care.

First of all, I was answering the OP, but since you asked for clarification, why not?

I've been in Phils many times, am married with a great pinay and among other things have 3 adult step anak Filipinos, who have their own families.

I am very familiar with the everyday life, and struggles, over there.

What you or the OP do with your money is your business. It is up to you to send it all, burn in your back yard or use it in any other way.

Oh...well... Another "philanthropist" that fell for the "it's Filipino culture" thing, the sad part is that one day you will find out, the hard way, what people over there really think about you.

or not if you keep the flow.

What if your wife had married a pinoy? What would be the expectations?

Let's be real, not even close to what they've got now.

    Wishing you the best.

  3. First of all, are you aware that $250/month is classified as a high income household in Phils?

The vast majority of households do not make this sort of income.

A security guard makes like $110-150, this is when he is not off of his contract.

What you send is a manager's monthly income.

The problem you have now is that you already opened a precedent, or should I say precedents with all the other extra monies you sent. So, the pressure on you, your wife and consequently in your relationship will continue forever, that's a giving.

IMHO, your only way out is to stop. The issue is how.

I would suggest establish a plan to phase down this bleeding and you MUST stick to it.

Don't give in to any of the black mail that certainly will come.

Trust me, you earn more respect by saying "NO" than giving in to any amount of money they request.

They will call you curiput, but I suspect they already do, so what's to loose on this part?

  4. Please note that if she stayed more than 6 months in any other country (Aruba, etc.) she will need to present a police clearance from that country at the interview.

So, new passports are to no avail.

OTOH, if she does not have any convictions recorded on these police clearances there is little the local embassy can do unless she volunteers information. They won't do an investigation in another country.

There are many Filipinas that did the same kind of work in Japan that successful obtained K1 visas. They were asked what kind of work they'd done in Japan, and the response was always the same. They were entertainers.

IMHO, tell a lie to an immigration officer should never be done, but volunteering unwanted information shouldn't be done either.

  5. I know is easiest said than done, but can you get a part time job?

Anything will likely bridge the gap, your pension plus the new "future" income will get you there.

You just need to proof that you have the income now. so this projected income is in most cases accepted.

In other words, you just need a pay check and a letter from your new employer.

    Wishing the best.

  6. First of all visit the Ohio board of nursing to know the requirements for applying for the license.

It varies from State and from the country where you graduated and you will need to gather the documentation needed.

Second, besides the suggestions above, you can also visit the local library, where I live they had several of the prep books so you can borrow instead of buying them. It is particularly good for obtaining practicing tests.

Finally, the NCLEX is normally different among whom take it cause it is not a fix test. For example, if you respond a question incorrectly, the test gives you more questions of the same subject to identify if it is a weakness or just a simple error.

The ones that answered the 75 and passed likely answered all correctly. You can technically pass or fail with any number of answered questions above 75. It all depends if you made up for errors or not.

  7. I had one of these "nice" stops when I flew from Manila to Detroit. Flight into US was MNL-DTW.

Not a single issue when traveling several times from Manila to NY via Tokyo. Flights into US were NRT-JFK.

I think if you are in a specific age bracket, male, travelling alone directly from Manila, you might trigger the search.

Kind of stupid cause one just needs to buy a ticket connecting through Tokyo and is home free.

    The real criminals know that.

  8. You just did that right here. Any self-respecting gun nut would never say they have enough ammo because it's impossible to have enough. Are you sure you're not an Obama-loving socialist lefty **?

So, the world is either black or white, no other colors, right?

You can not have guns if you are not a gun nut.

You are either a "Obama-loving socialist lefty **" or a Limbaugh-loving conservative right wingtard.

It might shock you, but there are people, like me, that think independently, that enjoy guns but are not paranoid or obsessed, or is critical of Obama, but is not easily manipulated into fear with no facts to back it up.

Please don't see this as a defense of Obama's term, I can offer plenty of criticism in many areas, but we are addressing one issue, gun control. So, tell me one thing Obama did regarding our guns that you disagree with based on facts.

  9. First of all, Obama might have many faults, but you can not say that he is retarded.

Only a retarded politician will mess with gun control.

The fear instigated by the right wing is so strong that even if Obama issues fully autos to anyone who wants one will be seen as a maneuver to discover who they are so later they can invade their houses to seize the autos and any other gun they have.

    One word PARANOIA.

I like the comparison with the "end of the world" thing and the inevitable postponement.

Poor Obama, he will take to his grave the gun control freak that never was.

Talking about prepping, I made a mistake of watching couple of episodes last week.

OMFG! Their plans are so full of holes that they better pray, as of praying helps with anything, that nothing will ever happen or they are screwed.

The only positive thing is helping the economy with all the $$$$ they spend prepping.

BTW, no, I'm not a gun control freak, among other things I enjoy going to the range with my wife, and yes I have enough ammo at home. :)

  10. 1st, Please note that all gun orders were placed WAY before this unfortunate FL incident. This trend is long coming.

2nd, every election year is the same, look at gun sales in 2008. The reason is fear. "what can Obama do to your gun?"

As far as I know the only thing he did was signing a law that allows carrying concealed at Federal parks. Very gun friendly if you ask me. He is not stupid to mess with this bastion of American society.

The newest fear is civil unrest, "Obama will ruin this country so bad that the economy will collapse, so get your gun to protect your family and property while you can".

I'll add to this, don't forget to build your bunker and stock pile ammunition, food and water for many years. OMFG!!!

I bet all gun industry will vote for Obama this coming November.

  11. This time, or like of there of, is not a requirement, so you can not be denied based only on this.

However, it is a red flag which can bring a more close scrutiny to your process.

At filing this won't likely to be brought up, but when comes to the interview there is a chance that this will be asked.

So, make sure you have her prepared to answer/explain the relationship in a clear, objective and concise way.

FYI, although separated for a long time from our previous spouses, I filed for my wife's K1 not too long after legally divorced. In her case, annulment, I filled for her K1 just days after her annulment court order.

We had no related snags or were ever asked about it.

    Wishing the best.

  12. My step son, K2, was also skin tested positive for TB in Manila, but cleared through the X-ray at St. Luke.

Here is what happened and what you should do.

He was told to report to our local health department at POE.

We reported at our County Health Dept., where new x-rays were taken.

The County Health Dept. put him in a preventive protocol, taking the medicine for several months. In his case I just had to stop by once a month to pick up another free bottle.

He followed the protocol and we got a letter from the Health Dept. stating that he complied with the protocol.

    Regarding the AOS.

At the interview the IO asked for some form of document proving that he was addressing the TB issue.

I did not have any, i.e., I did not know I needed one.

So, a new interview was scheduled for 30 days later.

I went to a Civil Surgeon with the records from the Health Dept and the Civil Surgeon called the local USCIS office to ask what they need in my son's case. So, the doctor did a general exam and fill out a sealed form.

I took it to the 2nd interview and the GC was issued.

As you can see, it is not a big deal.

If I had the documents ready at the first interview I am sure I would have sailed past it, as my wife did.

    Wishing the best.

  13. It is amusing how people jump into major conclusions based on few lines posted.

Most people that posted so far, has little to no idea of what an arranged marriage is, me included.

The little I know comes from either friends and co-workers that experienced these arranged marriages or what I read.

In other words, "your mileage may vary" (substantially).

Do you have the slight idea of what is going to be her life after being shipped back to India divorced because she had an affair/abortion with a married man prior to her marriage?

As far as I know her life will likely be ruined beyond repair, while for him it is a clean sheet and soon another arranged marriage.

I'm not defending her, or him, but there are too many possible scenarios coming from the few lines posted, from the simple ones to very complex or absurd ones. Perhaps some questions might help all posters to think.

How many hours did he talk with her alone prior to the marriage?

Would you expect her to tell him about her affair/abortion with a married man and cancel the marriage?

What sort of pressure would be coming from her and his families if she did tell him?

If she was forthcoming, would he have married her?

As far as I know all the issues posted so far should have been sorted out by the families prior to the arranged marriage, so if there is some "kind" of blame, I would say the families do bear a major responsibility, but no one had pointed this out.

Bottom line, my advice is that based on what the OP posted there is no base to claim fraud, and divorce is not a switch where you turn off, then turn on to marry again. So, I suggest him to put himself on her shoes and think what you would have done.

  14. Obviously only you know most of the components on your situation, not all cause there is the saying: "his version, her version and the truth", but based solely on what you wrote.

The relationship had red flags while she was in PHils, she could not do anything and you had to go and hold her hand for the visa process. I bet there were many others you, intentionally or not, chose to ignore.

Your post is full of red flags since her arrival, mistreating your accepting family, not wanting to do anything, etc.

Now the reasoning, if she is doing this before acquiring "tenure" (marriage), just imagine what is coming down the pipe.

If you ask me, you are quite lucky to find out before you get marry, most unlucky guys won't find out until is way too late and VERY expensive.

I understand the emotional/time/financial investment and I also bet this is what's preventing you to cut her loose, but trust me, the sooner you take action the smaller will be the toll on you.

I know it is tough, but just imagine if she was a local girl, what would have done?

    Wishing you the best.

  15. This is incorrect. You did your process 4-5 years ago. Things have changed since then (or rather, there is some official change to the I-9 employment eligibility form that clarifies this issue). K-1 is NOT work authorized.

Yes, you are right. I looked it up at USCIS and apparently it has changed indeed.

Honestly, I think it is actually appropriate, cause the premise of a K1 is having the beneficiary here for a "trial" period, which can or can not be successful. In the unfortunate case that it isn't, allowing to work could raise the risk of the beneficiary overstaying.

  16. Quick fix for the Mosin recoil is picking up a $20 "limbsaver" at Walmart.

You need a size small if you have the regular wood stock.

I have an ATI Monte Carlo stock, so for mine is medium.

It also helps making the wood stock a little longer if you have long arms like me.

The "limbsaver" recoil pad brings down from "kicking like a mule" to "yes, I'm alive", which for me is one of the pluses of having a M-N.

  17. You made the right choice. It's still illegal (CBP was wrong, you need your social AND EAD) and it doesn't look great to come and immediately start working illegally.

Actually a K1 is allowed to work until the I-94 is not expired.

After the I-94 expired then the K1 beneficiary needs either an EAD or the GC.

Technically, a K1 can arrive, get married, file for EAD (w/ the AOS) and be able to legally work after obtaining the SSN with no interruption.

However, in most cases there will be a gap between the expiration of the I-94 and the arrival of the EAD, cause it always takes time adapting to the new country, waiting for the SSN, waiting to get married, waiting to file AOS, processing of AOS, by then the I-94 already expired.

  18. Unless the US Citizen is self employed, having the employer's letter is a must.

I've seen cases where for some "unknown" reason the employer was not giving the letter.

What I suggest is for her to write the letter, put her supervisor's name as the writer, print using company's letterhead, and take it to her supervisor to sign, then Fedex it to you.

It does not need to come from HR.

Remember the letter must contain her position, how long she has been working for the company and her salary.

  19. just wondering if you finally got the chance to get hold usem??? i got same situation as you do, so pls. if you have any idea on how to call and follow-up visa status, pls give me feedback on how you do it. hope to hear from you soon...thanks!

Call right at 7:30 Manila time.

Granted, it was couple of years ago, but that was the only way I could get a human being on the other side.

  20. Non-refundable contracts are not bulletproof.

If the party receiving payment fails to fulfill their side of the deal then you can sue them for the fees to be refunded.

How do you prove they didn't do their job? Simple actually...

File the I-129f per the guides here (not including all of the extra ####### the Lawyer is asking for). FWIW, as simple "Letter of Intent" is all that's really needed to prove intent to marry.

Once you have your NOA-2 in hand you've proved that he didn't do the job you hired him for.

You can give the lawyer 2 options, issue your refund or file a complaint with the Bar and sue them for the fees.

Stop this lawyer BS, follow the above advice to a "T".

This lawyer is likely setting you up so you will quit and he doesn't have to do anything.

When dealing with bureacracy you send what is asked nothing more nothing less, and what he is asking is not required.

People! Never use a lawyer for a vanilla K1. It cost more, invariably introduces more waiting time and possibly errors.

Follow the guides here, pay attention to detail and Viola'! Cheaper and faster.

  21. The only question not clearly answered yet is:

How did she obtain her current status? (came via a tourist visa and adjusted status after marriage, etc.)

If she is currently married in Phils, as it seems, the outcome will be likely deportation with the only possible exceptions being some form of extreme hardship or if she came here legally and did not obtain her USC through her marriage.

In the last exception, she would be just committing bigamy and that would not be a factor on her status.

Any combination that involves her marriage with the naturalized US Citizen could only have be obtained through fraud, like omitting her previous marriage in a 325 form.
