  1. Hi all! I got an RFE notice today regarding a copy of our marriage certificate, proof of ongoing relationship, and a medical form. Now my partner did the K1 medical, which was done I believe in October of 2021 and I just want to make sure we don’t have to pay for another one. This is what the notice said:

Submit a completed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. A USCIS civil surgeon must complete and sign the form, and you must also sign the form. If the civil surgeon refers you to a specialist, the specialist must include his or her medical exam results and complete the proper sections of the Form I-693 before the civil surgeon may sign the form. Once everyone has signed, the civil surgeon will place the completed Form I-693 in a sealed envelope and give it to you. You must submit the sealed envelope containing the original Form I-693 that the civil surgeon signed and the medical exam results; we will NOT accept photocopied Form I-693 and medical exam results.
Civil surgeons must use the current Edition of Form I-693. You can find the current edition of Form I-693 on USCIS’s website at www.uscis.gov. In addition, the civil surgeon must ensure that all parts of Form I-693 were properly completed.
Please Note: All Forms I-693 signed by civil surgeons on or after October 5, 2022 must use the 07/19/2022 edition of Form I-693. USCIS will not accept the 09/13/2021 version (or any previous editions) if the civil surgeon signed the Form I-693 after October 4, 2022. Therefore, the civil surgeon administering your immigration medical examination must complete and sign the 07/19/2022 edition of the Form I-693.
Reminder: Effective October 1, 2021, applicants subject to the immigration medical examination must complete the COVID-19 vaccine series before the civil surgeon can complete an immigration medical examination and sign Form I-693. This applies to Form I-693 signed by civil surgeon on or after October 1, 2021.

No updates whatsoever.  My partner's grandmother is not doing well, and it is heartbreaking not knowing when he can visit her.  8-14 months is 'within the normal timeframe' here in Connecticut for the I-485- and it's absolutely maddening thinking it may be till February till we have any movement. I don't know what is up with the EAD and AP, I really hope we hear something soon.

Our date we can even inquire about our case isn’t until December of 2024. My local office says 21 months for AOS. But seriously at least give us AP & EAD we are also barely holding it together with a very elderly grandma back in Denmark.

  3. Good morning VJ!

My husband and I are beginning to run into some issues. At least where I am, most rental homes want ALL adults 18+ to fill out an application and submit documentation for rental homes, so simply putting everything under my name only isn't possible. Plus I would love for both of us to be on the lease for our AOS interview since my bank is being difficult about adding him with no SSN.  I am a USC and he is adjusting from K1 and we have been married almost 6 months already and our case appears to just be sitting in a pile since biometrics almost 3 months ago.  I did not get him a SSN while his i-94 was valid, which is turning out to be a nightmare!  I've offered to send over copies of our marriage certificate, our AOS NOA1 or notice of biometrics, or even his A number.  The rental company does NOT want any of that. They want an American ID and SSN, period. Any advice from couples in a similar situation? We already gave our 60 day notice at our current place so I am a complete stress ball.

Just a question, Can I apply for a stated ID/DL before or it is done after? I've been reading around the forum but it seems like most posts about it are older, so just checking if anyone from January 2022 filers have requested for a State ID/DL while waiting? Thank you!

It depends on your state! Some will allow you to get certain types of DL. I believe Nevada won’t allow a Real ID without SSN, but we haven’t looked into it because my husband is a non driver.
