@MarmiteC see this guidance on the UK Embassy & Consulates page: However, the turnaround is pretty quick so you don't really need to rush to get it given the stage you are at. I opted for premium service and it only took a week to arrive, I don't think the regular service is that much slower. If you want to get something done while you're waiting, you could pull together everything listed here that's required to apply for the certificate. 10 years' address history was a pain for me, and you'll need address history since the age of 16 for the DS-260 at the NVC stage anyway, so might as well get that togther. I don't think this is correct - see the official ACRO website. 'No trace' means there are no convictions, cautions, reprimands/warnings or conditional discharges. 'No live trace' means there is a criminal record but this information does not appear on the certificate because it has been stepped down. Per the website, there are four types of certificate that ACRO will produce:

Sorry @Crazy Cat - another quick question. As part of obtaining membership of a professional association in the US for my work, I need to answer the following question: The question is obviously worded in a slightly odd way, but I think I take it to mean: So - would that date be (i) when the consulate issues the visa; (ii) when the visa is stamped when I enter the US for the first time; or (iii) when I receive my 'proper' green card in the mail after I've entered. Hi folks I'm towards the end of the process for obtaining an IR-1. I understand that the visa is 'issued' only once the visa in the passport is stamped with the I-551 stamp on first entry to the United States and LRP status is granted from that point. I want to know whether the immigrant is given their A-Number at that point (at the port of entry), or whether you have to wait until the proper green card is issued to get that. Thanks!

Thanks - we've already completed NVC submissions, but in any event the medical will take place less than 6 months before our second anniversary so we should have a buffer of a few weeks at least. What I'd like to understand, however, is whether I could travel to the US immediately as the consulate approves under an ESTA, but before the visa is added to my passport, i.e.: I attend consulate interview Consulate approves in person I tell consulate that I have immediate travel plans, and that I will send in my passport for visa to be added once I have returned from that travel I travel to the US after interview, and enter under an ESTA On return from the US, I send my passport to consulate for visa to be added I then return to the US after our second anniversary and enter under the visa My thinking here is that by doing this I'll minimise the length of time we can't see each other between approval and 'final' entry after our second anniversary.

Really rubbing it in... 😕
