When was your interview scheduled for?

I never had an interview scheduled prior to this email, hence why this autogenerated message did not apply in my case. As for a future interview appointment, that has not been scheduled yet. Hopefully should find out soon once the consulate receives our packet from NVC 🤞.

Good day to all. Very wonderful update for my family! This week we received notification from the Visa unit that our request for expedite was approved through the Montreal Consulate for my wife's IR1 (I am the petitioner as her husband). We requested this expedite directly to the visa unit via my congressional representative vice using the NVC request form. The visa unit responded with the following:

The Visa Unit has approved the expedited scheduling of xxxxxxxxx case, and will provide the applicants with the necessary instructions regarding the appointment as soon as the case has been transferred to our office. The U.S. Consulate General in Montreal remains ready to provide visa services as local conditions and resources allow.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Consular Correspondence Unit (LMR)

    U.S. Consulate General

    Montreal, Canada

In this instance where NVC was not involved in the expedite, when should I expect the IV unit at the consulate to notify NVC of this approval and request for transfer of my package to their office? Just trying to manage my expectations. TIA

Update to my post: Received today the following *NORMAL* autogenerated cancellation email from NVC when they receive notification from the Consulate to forward a case directly for expedite:

****************"We previously notified you of the date and time of your immigrant visa interview at the U.S.Embassy/Consulate General in MONTREAL, CAN.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to cancel this interview. We will schedule a new interview appointment as soon as possible and notify you of the date and time. There is no need for you to take action at this time.

If you have any questions, please contact us by following the instructions at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry.

    Regards,
    National Visa Center,
    U.S. Department of State

    "****************

I never had an interview to be cancelled, so I knew that this was not correct and a couple of other threads have documented this happening with expedites and wanted share to save anyone the potential panic attack if they experience a similar circumstance. Had I not been following these forums for the last few months it would probably have thrown me into a panic spiral as well.

  3. As I'm sure you all have searched this forum, I would say there isn't a clear "this is the main way" to get an expedite approved especially when there isn't a clear life or death emergency. Be specific how your case is differentiated, be it a specific parenting/childcare reason, medical care, or financial reason (that can in someway be linked to the negative impact and lead to more serious consequences if delayed) that goes beyond the background noise of "we're in the middle of a pandemic and life is hard for everyone right now." Humanize your situation, be sincere, be respectful, and that's all you can hope for. I hope that helps.

@Tbeck, check back into the private message group you left a few months ago...

Please add me to the group as well if possible. Thank you.
