  1. Hiya all.

I am again here asking about some help on the I-134.

A part of the form (question 3 to be exact) asks for your Marital status (the person that the affidavit is being executed on their behalf), would you need to put "single" or "engaged" there? And does either one make a difference on the form?

Also, would a male co-sponsor need to also fill out any other forms along with the I-134?

    Thanks!

    You would put as

    marital status : Single

    Relationship to Sponsor: Fiancee

Your Sponsor only needs to fill the I-134 and provide all necessary proof as required by the I-134

    Good Luck

  2. So as i filed for adjustment of status and paid the $1010 basically its lost and i need to apply for another visa to get back to my wife and wait for months to get it and then apply for adjustment of status again. Is there no other way. We are married and cant be apart for this long again. There must be some other way.

Im sorry to hear what happened....

But, now might be a good time to contact an Immigration Lawyer too...

    Good Luck !

  3. Hi All

I am gathering all my I-134 documentation now and the Letter of Employment/salary verification I will receive form my Company will not come with the Company Letterhead logo and information. Apparently they receive this from a third party vender...

Can I still submit this, or will I need to transcribe this information onto a document with the company letterhead and have my Boss sign it?

    Thanks for your help,

    Scott

  4. Hi Everyone,

We are near the end of our journey, we wait the interview letter as the Embassy in Brazil received our documents from NVC today.

    My Question:

We are filling out Form DS157 and there are a few places that the space available is not large enough in questions 12, and 17(work, and school history) also the dates of employment, and dates attended do not accept more the 1 mm/dd/yyyy format.

What is the best resolution for this?

Thanks for all your help !!!

    Scott

  7. Can we just have a marriage license or do we need to have marriage certificate? There is not enough time for us to set a church date and to plan everything and also for my fiances family to fly here (since it takes long for visas) What is a good way to get married in the 90 days and then later me & my wife can have a big reception??

You MUST be married within the 90 days. The marriage License is not good enough.

You can have the civil ceremony in the Court House, and have the CHurch ceremony at a later date, but you MUST be married within 90 days

  8. Ok. Really dumb question...

Section II "Supporting Evidence" of the I-134, Affidavit of Support, states in the fourth paragraph:

"The sponsor must submit in duplicate evidence of income and resources, as appropriate"...

When they use the word "duplicate", what are they really asking for? Simply two copies of everything, or is there another meaning?

    Thanks again, VJ community!

I'm gonna have 2 copies of all (notorized)

Im not using assets as a requirment as my salary is well above the poverty level so I will have paycheck stubs, tax returns, and Tax transcripts, letter from employer.

Good luck to you !!!

  9. I have a question. When calling NVC, after it asks you to press 5 for an operator it gives the list of options. Does the #1 option (for immigrant visas) also work for non-immigrant visas? Meaning, if I put my receipt number into it, would it tell me if they have a record of it? I'd rather do this than have to listen to a customer rep's little auto-response of "wait a few days" every time I find out they don't have it yet.

When I called I pressed 1 for English, and then 5 to speak to an operator. I didnt go through the options..

After a few minutes of waiting they answered.

When he came on the phone he asked me for my receipt number (WACxxxxxxxxx)

I knew there was good news when he started to ask further questions, something that hasn't happened in the past.

    Good Luck !!

  10. Just wanted to update, I called CSC again today and they said that our case was mailed on the 13th! And it should be in their system in a few days. So maybe some other people will be getting updates soon!

    Hi Everyone,

I just called the USCIS and they said that our petition was mailed Dec 12th to the NVC.

So, I called the NVC and YES THEY FINALLY HAVE IT !!!! We received our NVC Case Number and we are now waiting to be shipped to Brazil. The Case worker at the NVC said most likely by the end of the week it may ship

A word of advice, Keep calling the USCIS if the NVC did not receive your petition. I called the USCIS 2 times since the 12th and both times they said didn't ship and today the case worker confirmed it shipped on the 12th..

    Good Luck to ALL :dance::dance:

  11. Hi ALL

We found this on the State Dept Site today

    http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2007/dec/97384.htm

Application Fees for Non-Immigrant Visas to Increase On January 1, 2008

Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. non-immigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process. This increase applies both to non-immigrant visas issued on machine-readable foils in passports and to border crossing cards issued to certain applicants in Mexico.

Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee before January 1 will be processed only if they are scheduled and appear for a visa interview before January 31. Applicants who paid the prior $100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference -- $31 -- before they will be interviewed.

The Department is required by law to attempt to recover the cost of processing non-immigrant visas through the collection of the Machine-Readable Visa application fee. Because of new security-related costs, new information technology systems, and inflation, the $100 Machine-Readable Visa fee is lower than the actual cost of processing non-immigrant visas. In fact, the $100 fee was already lower than the cost of processing non-immigrant visas when the fee was reviewed as a part of the cost of service study in 2004. The Department has been absorbing the additional cost. We are now collecting 10 fingerprints from each applicant, and the cost charged by the FBI to review those fingerprints no longer allows us to do this. The application fee has increased twice since September 11, 2001, the last time in 2002.

  12. I got a letter today from USCIS saying that they cancelled my AOS interview due to "unforseen circumstances". They are sorry for any inconvenience and will notify me later.... And this is after the AOS interview appontment letter I received just a few days earlier this week. Did anybody have a similar experience????

I would call them and ask what the "unforseen circumstances" are...

  13. The e-mail came this morning. Talk about a weight off our chests!!!

Application Type: I129F , PETITION FOR FIANCE(E) Current Status: Approval notice sent. On December 13, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

I have updated my timeline and am thanking God right now. I am hoping that everyone else who is waiting will get their NOA 2 quickly. Ours took 140 days from when I sent it.

Good luck everyone. Thank you for all of your help and advice!

    Congratulations!!!!

  14. Hello everyone.

This is the first time I am reaching out to everone for their opinon, so I appreciate all of your comments.

I am currently waiting for my NOA 2. I did the RFE trick on 12/10 and received a touch on 12/11. I called back today to inquire about the touch and was told that my K1 is now being reviewed by an officer. The USCIS representative (who was very friendly) said that it will take up to 30 days before hearing an answer.

Does anyone know how long it typically takes for this review? I am hoping sooner than 30 days!!!

    Thanks again!

I was told that two weeks ago. Still no touches.

So... i think its just lucky draw.

Ouch. What a time game. The sad thing is that there is not a whole lot that anyone can do unless it exceeds their "estimated processing times"! What I (and many others) wouldn't pay to expedite the K1! Just imagine the gold mine USCIS would have if the offered expedited K1's!!!

I get the impression they dont' much care if it exceeds them or not. I've exceed their six month estimate and when I called I was simply told to try again in two weeks, and check the website, don't call again, kthxbai.

I'm sure someone has mentioned it before, but did you try calling your congress representative? Or, are they saying 6 additional months from asking for the police report? Why did they ask for the police report? Was it a result of IMBRA? Sorry for the questions, I am just trying to learn more about what to expect... Thanks.

    Hi Dais_Melhores

    do you know this site?

  15. I also just called and found out my packet has also been sitting on a "staging area" since 11/30, she said they do shipments once a week but that is bull otherwise others should have been sent and told me it should ship by December 30th. This is ridiculous and something needs to be done.

I too called today and spoke with someone and she said the same, that it is the Staging area and should ship in 5 to 7 days arriving ast the NVC late next week. waiting 140 days for the approval, and now waiting while our file sits in a box on a loading dock waiting to be filled to shipp in bulk.

Damn, I will drive there myself, pick up our file, and maill it myself...there is less stress on the LA freeway then sitting waiting too hear it was shipped.......:unsure:

    good luck to all

  16. I need advice as to which visa to apply for. I am in a relationship with a Ghanaian man. We want to get married but aren't sure if we should do it here in the U.S. where I am from, or if we should get married in Ghana. I have heard so many different things about the advantages/disadvantages of each visa. I really could use some clarification as to which option is the best/easiest/fastest means of getting him here. Thanks!

    This should help you alot...
