  1. Was she not taken into the Immigration office after the initial Point of immigration?

When my wife arrived, she was taken into the office and processed. This took about 30 minutes. The first immigration officer advised her that she was here on a K1 Visa and had 90 days to marry. SHe then was escorted to an office where she was questioned, and given the I-94. We also arrived in Houston.

I would call USCIS, this may save you a flight back to Houston for a 30 minute process. Many major cities have an immigration office so I would check this option first.

    Good Luck !

  4. Hi Everyone,

My wife received a letter from DMV in California to show proof of residence to renew her drivers license. She was given a 1 yr "temporary" license last May.

We provided a copy of her green card, and still have not heard back from DMV with the "ok" to renew.

Has this happened to anyone else, and can we go to our local DMV office to renew without their reply?

her license expires in 3 weeks..

    Thanks in advance

    Scott

  5. the instructions clearly state you must file 90 days prior to the end of the 2 years. 6 months expired is a bad thing, and you should really think about an immigration lawyer. Tey will be able to tell you the proper steps.

I have heard that people were removed for having a CG expired, it happened to one of the guys I work with. He left to go to Mexico for Christmas 2 yrs ago and when he tried to come back, was not allowed back into the states. His wife, and kids remained here, so telling you this...again...seek an immigration lawyer.

    Good luck

  6. Im surprised they let her back in without her advance Parole document. The K1 Visa is a 1 time entry visa so I would suggest NOT to attempt leaving the USA without the advanced Parole document. They will not let your wife back in and she will be considered as abandinging the K1 (AOS) process. then you must start all over again as K3

Yes, your Visa will expire as it is only good for 90 days with the understasnding that you are to marry within this time. The I-94 document is required for a SS card too. Keep this document, you will need it in the future.

Did you apply for the advanced Parole along with the employment authorization?

  7. Hey guys, I have a simple question. I had a california drivers license which is expired now due to the expiration of I-94.

Now I am just waiting for my EAD for the past 7 months so I can get a drivers license so my question is will I get a

permanent license like a U.S resident, valid for 4-5 years or it will be still a temp license like I had before? Thank you.

Each state is a bit different, but your new drivers' license will probably be valid only for as long as your EAD is valid.

Can anyone confirm the above comment regarding the California DL? Will your California DL expire when the EAD expires? If so, can the expiration be extended after you receive your green card?

My Wifes DL will expire after 1 year, but she recieved her GC already so I imagine that it can just be renewed. It may onlt be renewed for another yr after as her GC is a 2 yr right now. After the Lifting of conditions, I think it should go to a 5 yr license.

  8. My wife and I had to take an emergency trip to Brazil two weeks ago. She has Advance Parole. I returned before she did, so I could go back to work. She is now traveling back to Los Angeles as I type this post.

On our way down to Brazil we had to connect through Mexico City Airport. Even though our connecting flight was in the same terminal, we were required to go through Mexican Customs as "transmigrants". They gave us no hassle going down; they took a photo copy of her AP and our marriage certificate and we went to our gate.

On my wife's return, she needed to go through Mexico City Airport by herself. Customs was not so friendly to her this time. They kept her AP, Brazilian Passport and marriage certificate. They made her wait in an immigrations room. They did not allow her to go out of the room to get bottled water or food. She had a FIVE HOUR layover. Although my wife can understand Spanish, she is not fluent. The immigrations officers did not speak English nor Portuguese.

From what she could understand, they told her that they would take her to her plane before it would leave. My wife called me on a pre-paid cell phone that I gave her for any emergencies. She was very upset and scared as it was about an 1 1/2 hours before her plane would leave. I called the Airline (Aero Mexico) and begged them to help. They could not help me. They gave me the phone numbers to Aero Mexico in Mexico City as well as the Immigrations office. I called and the phone just kept ringing without anyone answering it.

Literally 10 minutes before the plane departed, they gave back her documents and escorted her to the gate. She made her flight. Dealing with this, my stomach was in knots. I can only imagine how stressed out she was.

I know that the Mexican Government requires Brazilian citizens to obtain a visas to travel to Mexico. However, she was traveling as a "transmigrant". Not only that, she had Advance Parole and EAD from the US Government. It was obvious that she was simply changing planes to make a connecting flight. Why would the Mexican Immigrations treat her in this manner?

One things for sure... We will scratch Mexico off our list of places to vacation (or change planes matter). Thanks, Mexico, for your hospitality...

Same here, We'll take Mexico off our places to visit list too...We dont need the hassles from them either.

At least she is home safe now....

THIS IS TO ADVISE YOU THAT, DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAVE CANCELED THE PREVIOUSLY INTERVEIW ON TUESDAY, AUGUST AT 1 PM FOR THE ABOVE APPLICANT ,WE REGRET ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MAY CAUSE.

The same thing happened to us, we got a new appointment letter before our cancelled interview date.

  10. We received a RFE for I-693 although we submitted the ds-3025 with our paperwork(it is not a year old yet). So after reading here I am really confused b/c I thought that the ds-3025 was acceptable. So my understanding is that I have 3 choices now..

    1. To resend the Ds-3025 and assume that they misplaced or did not receive the first one in the AOS packet

    2. To have another medical done all together here in the states

    3. To try to find a civil surgeon that will convert the info from the Ds-3025 to the I-693 for a fairly cheap price

    Please help me guys.....

I would do 3. To try to find a civil surgeon that will convert the info from the Ds-3025 to the I-693 for a fairly cheap price. That is what they are asking for.

The doctor should only charge around 20-25 dollars to transfer this info to the I-693

  11. Whooo Hoooo !!

Now we can relax for 21 Months... whew !!

When you receive an email "Card Production Ordered"... Where is the card actually produced or mailed from ?

Is it from the Local Field office or the National Benefits Center or one of the 4 main processing Centers (California, Texas, Vermont, Nebraska).

    Does anyone know ?

    Hey Journeyman

Our card was produced in USCIS Missouri Service Center in Lees Summit, MO and we live in California

I guess this mat be the National Center for production?

  12. My wife came up on a K1, we got married and are doing the AOS "thing". However, she is bored to tears at home all day. We are thinking of Cosmetology as a way of giving her something to do and keep her mind busy. It is a private school and they require minimal documentation (SS card which she has) etc.

As long as she doesn't work until her EAD arrives, there should be no problems, correct??

    Thank in advance!

    She shouldnt have any issues...

    Good Luck

  13. Hey everyone,

Our interview is coming up Tuesday, 22nd, and I've got everything put together ( i hope) and I was wondering, online the case status says its still in the Missouri Service Center, but our interview is in Atlanta... what is the deal with that??

AND ALSO ANY INTERVIEW TIPS, ETC WOULD BE APPRECIATED AT THIS TIME, TO HELP US GET PREPARED!!!!

THANKS AND BE PRAYING FOR US (=

    JILLIAN & ALAN

    Hi Jillian and Alan,

On the bottom of the apt letter is the address you are to appear at.. Pay no attention to the online status, our status wasnt updated until after our interview and was always days behind.

As for tips, Relax, take a deep breath and dont worry. HAve all your paperwork in order and know what each one is.

The questions they will ask are only the questions they have the answers to in all the paperwork you provided.

Answer only the question, do not get nervous and try to elaborate.

Im sure you are well prepared, just focus on the outcome....the green card for your spouse.

    Good Luck

  14. Just wondering if anyone has processed a K3 spouse visa at the US consulate in Rio lately.

My case(I129F) was forwarded down there last friday so it should be there or arriving shortly.

I want to be prepared with all of the necessary documents ASAP, so I'm wondering if anyone has an up to date list of docs.

I have found the list on the consulate website but I would prefer to hear from someone who has actually been through the interview.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks to all of you.

    Bless

    Hey Jonbless

The embassy info is quite good, I used this when I was preparing for my interview in Rio.

    the best of luck
