  1. No no of course not. she’s not planning on moving to the US. she just wants to visit for a holiday 😅 not everyone wants to live in the US lol. It’s only because I’m living here now. she would rather stay in Europe to be honest lol. Also, Asia has better food anyway 😂😂😂
  2. Is the i-94 usually different for everyone? eg at POE the officer gives you 3 months generally or it’s up to them to even give 2 weeks (for example)? does it depend on the return ticket?
  3. Right got it, thanks everyone. Just asking as before I was in the US we never really travelled to this side of the world, so wasn’t sure about procedures etc but good to know incase family or friends want to visit in the future. Yes of course. We have never overstayed anywhere ever from all the years we have travelled to different countries.
  4. Hi everyone, so I would like to ask a few questions regarding a B2 tourist visa for my mum to visit. She is intending to visit for a month (let's say 4 weeks). 1. If she decides to extend another week whilst she's here because she wants to suddenly visit some other places, would I need to send a request to immigration? or once she has entered, she is allowed anyway depending on the date that she must leave on the i-94? 2. She is under my joint bank account in home country, and also under my fixed deposits which are sufficient for her trip. But my husband does not mind being a secondary sponsor for her trip (not that she needs it), but just to show more evidence, would he need to fill form i-134 (declaration of financial support) just incase they question more about her funds? (she's retired, not working, my brother and I support her now). Thank you
  5. I added about....10-15 pages of text messages (4 per page)... The officer was cringing at all our texts. Also chose some lovey dovey ones
  6. Hi all, sorry if wrong forum but I think this is for travel related questions too. I literally (and perhaps for most) have not travelled since 2019 because of Covid (and because I was waiting for the GC), and a lot of things seem to have changed. I have some questions as I've been reading stuff here and there regarding customs etc. I am going to visit Malaysia next week and have many friends and family whom I'm bringing food and snacks (of course) for from the US. I would like to ask for those who have travelled to Malaysia recently: 1. Is there a customs declaration form now we have to fill in? 2. Can I bring 1 regular sized pack of strawberries? Do I have to declare this? 3. Can I bring in 2 sealed packs of salami and cured meats? (like the ones from Costco already packed from the shelves, not from over the counter deli). I wasn't sure about this because it's pork... 4. My luggage is pretty empty. How much snacks (chips and chocolate) am I allowed to carry? (is there a limit? eg under US$100)? Any help is appreciated, thank you!
  7. Hi everyone so I just wanted to check how this works. I am about to travel abroad with my GC. So I would book the tickets to and fro with my passport name (with non-married last. name) My GC has my married name (last name) on it. When I leave my destination country back to the US, I would show my passport upon leaving... ...and then when I arrive in the US, I'd show the GC? Reason why I'm asking is because I thought when you leave a country with a passport, it would have some record that you had left, and that you arrived. but if I was to arrive with the GC, then it would be as if my passport did not have conclusion to the end of the trip?
  8. If helpful - for non-US residents. When I first came in under K1, I was also looking for my i-94 and could not find it online (I needed it to submit AOS). You have to contact them, let them know. I believe they were very efficient and I saw my i-94 on the site the next day/2 days later.
  9. Also, don't staple. I used the two prong clip on top of folder: https://www.amazon.com/Fastener-Folders-Reinforced-Designed-Organize/dp/B076HZNZVM You can do a makeshift one - buy a plain folder, and those 2 prong clips separately. But when I filed for mine, I read around here to do that.
  10. Mods: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum! Please move where appropriate! Hello everyone - this is probably a question for those who have been pregnant or who's wife had been pregnant and travelled. So I finally got my greencard and can finally travel to see my family abroad in Malaysia. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and I am not sure if anyone has travelled internationally within this timeframe. I am planning to return when I am about 26 weeks. Whilst I understand most would ask and say "why are you travelling" / "you should not travel" - it's not as easy as it looks as I have to sort some personal stuff out, I also need to go and also to see a family member who is unfortunately quite ill at this time. My potential flight will be split into two: - 11 hours, 2 hours layover, 7h 50 mins. I am to speak with my doctor on Monday, but I will have to book tickets asap as I would have to travel in 2 weeks. But would like to ask anyone here who has experienced travelling internationally with any potential tips and advice
  11. Ahh apologies I misread. I just checked my personal timeline, I received my K1 NOA1 on Sept 2020, and then NOA2 in April 2021. This was when Covid was high and processing was slow and there were restrictions on travel.
  12. Still early! My NOA1 was early 2021 and I only got approved yesterday. So, in the span of 11 months, 8 months since biometrics.
  13. It is what suits you best. I did mine during the pandemic but chose K1 as CR1 was impossible for either of us to do - as both of our countries blacklisted each other because of high Covid so we couldn’t visit each other at all. It depends on what your country does in terms of marriage processes too. For me, getting married in my home country is complicated - you have to go through many processes; registering, wait a month, and then come back for part 2. Obviously since my then fiancé couldn’t come in, it was impossible to do. My process started in Aug 2020 with lots of paperwork and I only got approved yesterday. It was considered fast in the middle of crazy Covid. My husband’s friend chose to do CR1 but only saw his fiancé maybe 2-3 times in the span of 2020-present, and still waiting for her to come in, whereas I got to see my husband immediately from Dec 2021. Depends on your situation. In our cases, my K1 was quicker than husband friend’s CR1.
  14. Thanks so much. It definitely makes sense when you explain in that way! i honestly need to check my papers as I can’t remember what I wrote but before, I received NOAs with my original name and it’s only the latest RFE letter/approval letter that it came with my married name 🤔 I did remember writing in my OG name on i-485, and there was a section where it said “other names” and I wrote the married name. honestly not sure which one they used, will definitely have to see which one when it arrives. May have to carry copy of marriage certificate but thank you again.
  15. So I was finally approved of my AOS! but I think they are going to naturally use my married last name on my green card. Since this is my first time I will travel with it, I am not sure how it works. My last name on my green card will be MYCURRENTLASTNAME (hyphen) MARRIEDLASTNAME. but obviously my passport has my unmarried last name. Do I have to carry my marriage certificate with me? I am not sure how it works coming in and out of the US with it. thank you for any help
  16. Does this mean I can travel immediately once I receive the green card? p.s. - Asking as I'm desperate to see my family and hopefully get to see my aunt soon. p.p.s - (sorry asking as I was always confused about this - AP etc and all the separate forms).
  17. Same thing that just happened to me! My EAD and AP - still no news but just got approved of AOS.
  18. Hi everyone!! So my i-485 has finally been approved today! I'm really happy because last night I prayed for any answer as my aunt was ill and I just prayed I wanted to go back home to see her asap and my family too. Date Filed : 2022-02-23 NOA Date : 2022-03-07 Bio. Appt. : 2022-04-06 RFE(s) : 2022-12-07 Approval Date : 2023-01-26 My Employment Authorization and Advanced Parole strangely has not been approved. It was sent together with the i-485. Will this come after or together?
  19. Hi all, So I'm going to move in 2 weeks and need to change my address on my USCIS account. Probably a minor thing but when I key in my address, I get a pop-up stating the following: and was just curious about this because it IS the correct address as on the lease, so just wondering if it's a big cause of concern...
  20. Hi everyone, So in summary: I got a RFE for my K1 AOS to show marital evidence since my wedding date, and one of the points they add was to add some sworn affidavits from friends and family. I understand that this is not as strong as the other evidence, but I would just like to add this regardless. I have searched this forum, but there were 1 or 2 threads about it but not really solid. I would like to ask: 1. Does the family member or friend HAVE to have had attended the wedding? I did not have a wedding party, only the ceremony during Covid where 2 people were allowed (spouse's parents came only). But I did meet up with spouse's cousin after that for a photoshoot. (I was going to have a wedding party in my country after approval of visa.) Was thinking of asking cousin because spouse's parents first language is not English and it will be easier with cousin. We were also going to ask my spouse's friend who knows we got married but only met a couple of times and have pics. Again, no pics at wedding because I had no wedding party as of yet. 2. Do these have to be notarised? I do not see any info that they have to be but I am unsure. Read in another thread that notaries don't notarize these sort of things. I have attached an image of what is being stated on the RFE. Thank you for any help and I hope my thread will be useful to others in the future too.
  21. Thanks for this! But i guess there's definitely a lot of things I could not do without the SSN. Will write those letters explaining situations without SSN. Thanks!
  22. I've just checked online and yes you are right, my EAD has been way delayed. I took biometrics in April. I just assumed they would issue it together after the i-485. Perhaps not. Will chase the on it tomorrow. And yes, I did notify on the forms where applicable that I needed a SSN number.
