Yes, we had our interview on the exact day they closed the embassy, March 17, 2020.

How they schedule interviews is the question. My fiance’s supposed interview was April 2020.

We received an email last week of June saying they approved the expedite interview on July 15 - that is after receiving an email 2 days ago that they are only doing age out K1 interviews etc etc. And we did not request an expedite interview.
Btw we are plaintiffs of a litigation against US embassy. I’m not sure if that has any bearing on this.

I don't know why exactly why the Consul told us that we can call them again next month (we called 3rd week of Oct) like maybe after election.

Before the last phonecall (we call them atleast once a week for updates) they told us that within this year they "maybe" give applicants appointments with restrictions.

They never tell us exactly why or if its the expedited but when my fiancé  called them from US they gave him few things what he can do if my Medical is about to expire.

Ohh okay. I always inquire thru email and I rarely receive a response from them. I really hope they open up for interviews. I don’t get how other visa classification can interview while fiances are still on hold. It’s not like fiances have the virus. 🙄

I havn't seen anyone updated their profile yet but the Embassy told us to call them this Month (after Election).

My fiance did his medical on June8. I was asking for an expedite due to expiring medical exam. They emailed me back saying CDC extended validity of med exams done up to June for 30 days. Meaning my fiance’s medical is valid until Jan 8. They still did not approve my request for expedited interview tho.

may I ask why they were asking you to call the embassy after elections? Is it about expedited interview requests?

Now I'm worried. Is the one year visa fee validity applicable for F2B as well? We paid the visa fees since 21 July  2019.

Oh I’m not really familiar with f2b visas.. let’s hope the president won’t extend his immigration freeze so you can proceed with your visa process

You paid your visa fee in November 2019, the fee is valid for one year so by November 2020 that will be invalid.   If you haven't completed the interview before the one year date of paying the fee you will be .. SOL

Extending the petition validity had always been "automatic" with USEM, but a month the embassy sent out this information for extending the petition validity

Hopefully the covid lockdown won't extend until November 2020. We are ready for the interview by now. Just need to complete medical at slec on june 8. i check for interview slots opening everyday.

Technically K1's do not exceed 1 year... Since you talk about marriage I assume that is a K1 petition. Maybe you can push the argument of Covid-19 since embassies are closed anyway but there is no guarantee. You need to contact your local embassy and NVC

Yup I am a K1 filer. I did contact NVC. I sent an email to all the visa related email address I found. They were actually quick with their response. They said, "if the petition is expired, the applicant is still able to proceed with an interview and the determination will be made at that time. The revalidation happens, when approved, at the time of interview, not in advance."

    Thanks!

  7. can someone please help. my fiancé's petition has been approved April 2019 and we are at the stage of visa processing at the embassy. but due to unforeseeable events(ie multiple deaths in the family on both sides), we decided to delay processing since we thought that getting married around this time would be inappropriate. I know that they automatically extend the status for up to 1 year so I thought it would be okay. We paid for the interview fee around November 2019 so they would not think that we abandoned the case. my fiancé was supposed to have his interview on april 16 but it got cancelled due to the community quarantine and now our case has expired. can I still ask for extension from the embassy? if so, how do I do that? thank you in advance for your input.
