So...I do not know how I feel about this...

Filed September 2019 with my back then husband. We separated February 2020 and our divorce was finalized one month ago. I hired an immigration lawyer to help me make the changes. TODAY I check the app and it says New Card is Being Produced. Now I should be happy and everything but I am most certain they approved it under the belief that we are still married. I reached out to my lawyer to see what she thinks we need to do but I literally opened the app, refreshed it and went WHAT?! And started crying....Not sure if I should be happy or concerned :(

    Congratulations!!! Celebrate!

Not a lawyer, but I think If that child is registered in school or daycare, show them that you're allowed to pick them up and you're an emergency contact. Or if you have them on your insurance plan etc..

Add recent tax returns, bank statements, pictures, rental agreement or maybe even a receipt of the last few months of rent..

@Mwar as you can read, I said I can’t have him on my insurance because his dad is ordered by the court to have it. Anything else school related, I have and I will provide those no problem.
and like I said, my first post was a quick reaction after I got the letter but the more I read thru the more I understood.

and TBH, I posted this so I provide clarity to everyone here. Some people leave open-ended posts which I don’t think it helps this VJ community.

    Thanks.

That seems unlikely and unusual. There are plenty of couples who've been approved without children. Are you certain that USCIS has requested that you procreate in order to obtain a 10-year green card? This is the first time I've seen anything like this on VJ.

It puzzled me at first too but here is what I think it is. My wife has a son from previous relationship, so I “think” they want to see if I ever proceeded to adopt him. I love him and treat him like my son but his father has a court order of paying child support, insurance, and legal rights to his son. Plus all the visiting rights. So when my wife and I get insurance, we don’t have him on ours. He loves his son too and he wouldn’t arrow me to do anything ordered to him by the court. And I respect that. Laws are very strict.

see the attached pic. (Honestly I thought I had provided enough in the beginning)

Yeah, October 2018 here. About to get to the point where people who filed a YEAR after me are going to start getting approved.

    It’s not chronological.

It has been more than 18 months. Have you tried to contact them and expedite things? (I assume you have. How did it go?). Have you gotten an RFE that probably slowed things down?

LIN filling 9/6 as well. I checked today and I got an RFI. I gotta wait for the mail to see what’s in it and what they want. Until then, any help, suggestions is welcomed.

    i am a bit nervous.

So the RFI arrived in mail. 2 major things they want to see:

    1. A child together or adoption

    2. shared property or lease.

The truth is my wife and I have waited a little bit to have a child until we are stable, plus she was on 3 year Birth control (sorry for TMI) when we got married. When I submit I-751, we had a lease ending in August 2020, and now we are on a month to month basis (our landlord allows it but with high fees) because we are looking to buy a house, then covid hit, and we slowed down, but still looking for a house. Our lease is now on monthly basis. I am hoping my explanation in a letter will be enough. I will see if we can get medical records and send the landlord letter of going month-to-month.

Not sure if that will be enough.

NOTE: one thing I can note tho, USCIS highlighted all evidence we submitted, which shows that they are really looking into it in details.

share your advice, comments, a s advices.

    thank you

    Hello there !
How do you see what exactly cases were approved, when it only says “ card was mailed “, and doesn’t say it was I-751?
mine is LIN2090003***, and I see many cases were approved. I filed mine in September, the fingerprints were taken in November .
Good luck to all of us! We are receiving  our GC in the mail 🍀 in few days 🕉

@luckylola you would need to have followed cases early on. you can only tell if a case was I-751 up to when the "fingerprints" updates. after that, the online status doesn't specify if it was an I-751 or anything else.

Usually what i have seen here people do, once you file and you get your case number, chances are that cases 3 months ahead of you are still specifying to be I-751. so you write those numbers down somewhere and you keep an eye on their progress. otherwise you are on the mercy of someone giving you their full case number which i dont think will happen.

and as you will see, there are less than five I-751 cases in 100 consecutive case numbers. it can be daunting task, thanks to the tracking apps like "Case Tracker" that helps to sort them for you.

I just noticed a LIN filer from August 30th has been approved, very good news today!

This case is within a 1000 of my case :)

    A very good news indeed.

Thank you for sharing. I hope everyone stays patient (I know it's hard for me) and that all goes well and at least everyone gets their approval under a year from submittal day.

@Paul4GC I am also a September filer and my status has not changed from "Case Was Received" even though I did my finger prints on 1/23.

@Walbrzyszanka221 We are in the same boat. and I have accepted their slow/late online updates.

But I wanted to ask if anyone has a clue as of why Nebraska (LIN...) is moving slower than California or Vermont or other offices. Or, why CA and VT are moving faster than other offices?

(I get this idea from watching posts on the I-751 timeline thread of this visajourney website, and checking other LIN numbers on USCIS website)
