Did you make it to the US? I hope you're safe and well there now!

Yes! I made it, I am sorry it took me two days to share with everyone but my port of entry was JFK and I had absolutetly 0 problems or extra questions, the officer didn’t even ask me for proof that I had been in Croatia 14 days.

Boarding the flight in Serbia though I was asked such question, I just presented my boarding pass from when I flew into Croatia and I was good to go!

Good luck to everyone still on their way to the U.S.! I am sure you will all make it!

He should be okay if it’s just a layover they have no reason to give him a hard time in Amsterdam. Serbia doesn’t question anyone when they come in. There’s an American girl in my hotel that came for tourism from this week and she just passed through no questions asked. Same for me and someone else that came in from EU on Tuesday.

Me, and a Polite Parrot came from Croatia to Serbia to catch the flight from Belgrade tomorrow, and we had no problems crossing the Serbian border. So that’s another positive data point!

    Hi guys,

So I live in Zurich Switzerland and own a home in Florida and also my boyfriend lives there.

After thinking about it for a long time- I decided to go to Croatia on the 24th and fly to the US on July 9th. For me this is the easiest way since I can easily drive to Croatia in 7 hours.
I know many people are unsure about Turkish airlines however with everything there is a risk and starting July they will have many new flights (my brother is a pilot in Switzerland and has some insights).

I hope everything goes smooth and as of now the only thing I’m concerned with are the flights from Istanbul to the US (probably New York)- keep your fingers crossed for me please. If anyone went to the US from Croatia please share!
There are risks no matter which way you decide to go- I’ll update you if there’s anything new!

Sending everyone a lot of strength during these crazy times-

    Jenny

I am in Croatia right now and my advice is the following: go to Serbia and fly from there. The Belgrade-NYC route seems to be working just fine, I wouldn't rely on Turkish.

I’m confused about Croatia to the US via Istanbul. The travel restrictions seem to imply if you are a national of the U.K. and various other European countries you may not enter Turkey (nothing about transiting) and then says that if you are a national of those countries you may not board the aircraft?
    https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-gb/announcements/coronavirus-outbreak/travel-restrictions/

So basically if you are a national of any of the listed European countries you are not allowed to enter Turkey, same thing if you have visited any of them on the past 14 days, but if you are a national of any of the countries and have not transited any of them in the past 14 days you are allowed to transit Turkey.

You can read all the restrictions further here:

    Is transit in Turkey allowed?

I was actually typing that answer as you posted!

Wow. I'm still so confused about Turkey. I just read in Forbes yesterday that Turkish Airlines plans to resume international flights to European destinations only, from June 18. No mention of flying to the USA...

I guess worst case I can try to do Croatia-Belgrade-NYC but we ll see, the agent i talked to said to check this website for updates: https://www.turkishairlines.com/es-es/announcements/coronavirus-outbreak/cancelled-flights/ he also mentioned that you are not allowed to even transit Turkey if you have been in the Schengen Area in the past 14 days but I doubt anyone will have an issue with that since it is exactly what we are all trying to do.

  6. Hi all, I've been following the thread for quite a bit though this is my first message. I am on an F1 Visa and have an internship to start in the U.S. by June 22nd. I am waiting to see if restrictions concerning the Schengen Area are lifted this week, but if not I will be travelling to Cancun June 4th or 5th till the 20th or so. If anyone would be interested in tagging along I think it could be a lot cheaper for us since the price stays the same getting two queens vs a king bed. Also I would rather be in an all inclusive in Cancun rather than in Mexico City, even though is more expensive I would have less to worry about. If someone is interested please let me know!

Additional details: I intend to fly Madrid-Mexico City-Cancun and then Cancun-NYC(JFK as a port of entry)
