  1. Hi everyone,

Our interview is finally scheduled for next week, and we got the medical exam done two weeks ago.

We just noticed on our copy of the medical exam, in the top right corner of the medical exam it says that it expires 10/31/2020?? That’s less than three weeks after the exam was administered. Is that a federal date only? Does that matter??

    Thank you for any insight!

  2. Hi everyone!

I was hoping that someone who succesfully changed their interview country would be able to help with this. (If you haven't but know the answers, I'd appreciate that too!)

We currently want to switch to a country where the beneficiary has been living for the past the couple of months, and where she currently holds a permanent residence. They just resumed interviews today!!!!

I just had a few questions that I was hoping you would be able to help me with! The NVC isn't really answering the phone right now....

    1) Did you have to update your DS-260 form as well stating that you were (living) in a new location? OR did you just send them an inquiry with the proof of residence?

    2) What documents did you send along with your inquiry? She has a permanent residence in the the new country, but I was wondering what else we might need to send with it? Rental invoice is enough?

    3) Can you share what your email looked like? I want to send something that worked in the past 😀.

Thank you so much for your help!

  3. Again, just to clarify what I meant in my original post:

Is it possible that he will breeze through the entire process in less that 6 months? Yes.

Have most people been waiting much longer than their "estimated times", and have been waiting almost two years already? Also Yes. When people were applying in 2018 almost all cases were completed in less than a year. Now thats the outlier.

The most frustrating part of the process is the wait game, false expectations, and uncertainty. Just because thankfully people are currently getting faster approvals, and it seems to be going quicker now, shouldn't give the OP the illusion that this is likely to take less than 6-12 months. It's possible, and hopefully thats the case, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The fact that lots of other visas are currently suspended will likely help but almost all the embassies are still closed for interviews and if there is a second wave of COVID, don't expect any movement for a loooong time.

So yes, maybe it will take you only a few months, and nobody could answer that question with certainty. Get your application in as soon as you have all the correct information. Prepare in your mind that it can take 2 years or more (as you can see by many comments on this thread). Thank your lucky stars if you get a fast-pass, and keep us updated with good news :)

  4. Hi all,

I have a simple question, that I would appreciate your help with.

I received an email about a month ago from the NVC with the subject line "Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case becoming Documentarily Qualified" NVC has received all documents and fees, and will work with the consulate etc...

However when I check case status online it still says "Case at NVC", shouldn't it say "approved" or "DQ" or something like that? Or is it only because all the embassies are still not processing the cases so technically the case hasn't moved to the next phase, even though everything is ok. I know this is probably a simple question, just want to double check.

Another question, in regular times, how long does this part of the process take until the interview?

    Thank you very much!

  5. We were also initially confused at first about this. You are not required to submit the Police Certificate. Our application also requested police certificates from the country of every address we've ever held. It seems to be an automatic request for all countries that you've ever lived in. But if you call or email them they will remove the requirement. OR potentially you can click "submit" and leave an explanation.

You would only need the certificate if you are a National of that country, or you're currently living there, or you've lived there for more than 12 months. We didn't submit the certificates from the countries that didn't fall into the category (even though they requested them), and we got approved a few days ago.

I am only talking from personal experience. But what I'm trying to say is that even when they request documents, sometimes its in error.

I believe that in your situation it is required only if you would have lived in Norway for more than 12 months at anytime after the age of 16.

    Hope this helps.
