  1. Here's a further update. I heard back from the consulate about delaying my appointment to November, and they told me to just email them in October to schedule it for then. In both my case and in another case I've heard about, they scheduled appointments for less than two weeks out, so don't be surprised if you get one that is relatively last minute. That said, it was really easy to reschedule, so I wouldn't worry about it causing problems too much. I've also noticed in looking at everyone's timelines here, they seem to be scheduling these interviews at random. I have the impression that I have a comparatively late priority date and DQ date and was scheduled first. It's really crappy that they do that, but it does seem to be the case.

Did they specify documents we need have...regarding public charge

The email included this link: https://de.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/iv-application-instructions/ and this text:

Please submit the following missing items on your visa interview day:

    • Visa delivery registration. Prior to the interview, you must provide an address where you want your visa package delivered after issuance. Detailed information can be found here: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/de/de-niv-passporttrack.asp. After logging into your profile, please click on “New Application/Schedule Appointment”, select “Immigrant Visa” and then “Immigrant Visa Delivery Registration”. Make sure to print out the confirmation page at the end of the process and bring it with you to the interview.
    • Photo. One color photograph for each applicant, regardless of age, is required (less than 6 months old, without glasses). Please write the applicant’s name on the back of the photograph. Further guidance is available on our website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html
    • Original version of all civil documents uploaded in CEAC
    • Passport

I don’t see anything public charge related

Do they just write to you and tell you the interview date, or do you get to pick the date?

(We are applying through Frankfurt as well, and wanting an interview as soon as possible, but also wanting to be able to plan one week of holiday in Sept without that being the week the interview is scheduled).

They just told us the date, but you can email them and ask to change it if needed

  4. This happened to me just recently in Frankfurt. I got an “interview cancelled” email, then a “case expedited” email, and then an appointment for Aug. 18th for a CR-1 interview. I did not actually request an expedite (we actually had to delay the interview because we can’t move to the US until March), so I guess this means Frankfurt is starting to do IR-1/CR-1 interviews.

  5. We were just given an interview for 8/18 in Frankfurt after DQing a couple of weeks ago. I did receive an “expedite approved”  email a few days ago from NVC, but I didn’t actually request that. Oddly enough, COVID seems to have accelerated the whole process for us to an unbelievable degree, so I had to ask for a later interview date since we can’t move until March 2021. In any case, it would seem there’s good reason to think things are really getting moving.

    Hi everyone,

on Friday July 31st, I received an email from NVC saying that they canceled my visa appointment. Before that I have not received any notification on an interview date so it was a little confusing.

Today I received an email saying that my expedite got approved even though we didn’t submit an expedite request. They also updated the status to “in transit” to the Frankfurt embassy.

i guess things are moving forward which I’m very happy about but it’s still a little weird. Hopefully we will hear from them soon on an interview date. Just wanted to share.

This just happened to me as well at the Frankfurt embassy. We only DQed a couple weeks ago, so I think there’s a good chance they are going to catch up quickly.
