  1. don't mean to burst anyone's bubble but even thought citi and discover are better cards to get they are harder to get, i dont think the OP, with limited or no credit will get approved for these, not all secured cards report as secured, a store card is a good idea but if that fails i do recommend a secured card, capital one is ok to start out,all you need is 6 months of good payment history and u can upgrade to a better card.

  2. be offended if you may, but this is what get from reading this entire post(i have nothing better to do):

the OP is basically in love with someone who doesn't even care about him/his feelings much less love him

and giving advise is like beating a dead horse...(its going nowhere)

hey gills(sp) if you want to stay in this "marriage" and be treated like a doormat then so be it, there is nothing anyone on here can do for you that you cant do for yourself

    good luck

  3. I've been resident since 04/05 (Resident Since field on I-551) and am thinking about applying for naturalization.

My wife and I are currently living apart (though not formally separated or divorced). That being the case I'm wondering if it will be possible for me to apply for citizenship under the 3 year rule for married couples (as we were living together up until the end of 2009) or if I would have to wait until April/May and the 5th year anniversary.

if i'm reading your post correctly wouldn't you already be eligible for the 5 year citizenship?

  4. i have a family member that was here in the us on b-2 visa, the individual ended up overstaying(despite being told not to do so) and some way some how ended up in Canada(i have no idea how they got across the border), anyhow said individual got married to her high school sweetheart(who by the way is a Canadian citizen) and has applied for adjustment of status or whatever they call it over there.

my question to you guys is, is it possible for her to adjust her status without any visiting visa or proof of entering Canada legally?

she (is a known liar) tells other family members that, she already received residency but yet she is still unable to travel, if this is true why is this?

  5. i have read through most of the post in this thread, there have been some good advice given about how to go about establishing and maintaining good credit, so i'm just going to give some (maybe the same) advice based on my experience...

ok for starters for people who have zero credit you can start off by opening a checking account at your local bank or better yet your local credit union(credit unions offer better/lower interest rates on loans and cards etc.)

you can then get a secured card with the bank/credit union you are with or if you choose to go with another bank, also you might want to consider getting department store cards, some of the more easier store cards to get are, macys, target and walmart...(its best to apply for these while you are in the store making a purchase you have a better chance of getting approved)..

words to the wise, please don't go on a card application spree because each time you apply for somthing and inquiry is added to your credit, having too many inquiry on your report in a short period of time will drop your credit score and looks bad to lenders/banks.

after you have applied and recieved your card you have to make you payments on time do not carry high balances (i do not suggest any balance above 20% of what the card is worth so for example, if you have a $100 card do not have a balance higher than $20 this is just my suggestion)

after using your card and paying ontime for about 6 months you should have a decent credit score and be able to attain credit limit increase with the cards you already have as well as other cards. be careful though as some higher limit cards tends tends to look at the length of your credit history and that would just have to come with time.

good luck hope that helps some

  6. May be I am asking like a noob, but then i am new in this country and i need help from VJ ers in this matter.

I understand from earlier posts that for a new person who has just got his/her SSN its best to apply for a credit card(capital one), add to car loan/ house mortgage loan, a department store. Now i have some queries . I have listed them below :

    i) my wife has a bad credit score . Now wd it be safe for me to join her cards, house mortgage loans ?

If she pays on these without being late then her bad credit has nothing to do with your credit

ii) Wd these department stores, credit card companies offer me card if i apply with my ssn , even if i dnt have any job ?

alot of them would not but its best to have some proof of income or u might be able to use your "household income"

iii) what about a credit card from a bank where we hold joint a/cs ? wd they offer card inspite my wif e`s bad credit score ?

If you go in and ask for a secured card i dont think they are going to check your wife's credit if she isn't on the application

iv) something like Bank of America. do i have to open a cheking or saving account with a small amount to apply for thier card ...and do we open it singly in my name or jointly.

I dont think you have to open a checking or saving account with BofA or whoever the card is with, but it would make it easier to have history with them, yes you can open the account in your name only.

All helps wd really be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  7. if you 2 year green card has expired but you've got a 1 year extension letter, but still no official 10 year green card is is still possible to apply for citizenship....will this put our process in limbo?.....i'm confused as to what to do, because at the pace the uscis is moving its seems the time for citizenship elegibility will come around before we recieve the 10 year card.... can we apply for citizenship with the extension letter and the old expired conditional green card?

  8. My I-751 package was received by TSC on Aug. 10. My check has still not cleared either, so you are not alone.

    Alie

guys don't feel bad maybe they are just late my app was sent out on july 20th a week after i could see where the chechs were cashed but i didn't recieve a notice until yesterday (august 24th) and my notices said that it was recieved by them on august 3rd  anyways i have biometrics on 9/11 ...

  9. IF YOU COULDN;T SUBMIT THE FORM 3 MONTHS BEFORE EXPIRATION, WITH THE FORM YOU SHOULD SUBMIT A LETTER EXPLAINING THE REASON WHY THAT HAPPENS. THAT'S THE WAY IT IS BEING STATED IN THE FORM INSTRUCTIONS. GOOD LUCK.
You don't have to file exactly 90 days before expiration, you cannot file more than 90 days before. You can file anytime between 90 days before and the expiration of the card, no explanation required.

Some explaining would be needed if you filed AFTER the card expired.

Thank u and to explain a bit clearer I did file before the expiration date but its just that they haven't send me anything yet
