Hi guys, So i just finished filling out the AOS forms for my brother. On trying to upload the forms it says only 2MB allowed.

So how do I compress the file to the required size. I'm struggling with it. Can someone assist me please thanks

Do you really want to scan I-864 plus other sensitive documents with an online tool? I would say NO WAY. Heck even NVC does not show uploaded sensitive docs.

Buy a printer scanner combo from office max or online. Seriously, how much money are you spending on this whole thing? Few hundred dollars ain't gonna hurt. You can always use this type of printer for rest of things in your daily life.

Here is a workable solution once you have the printer scanner combo:

    a) Complete, sign, and print the documents.

    b) Scan the document as .pdf, but use 100 or max 200 dpi resolution. 100 may work, but check it after scan is complete. 200 dpi usually comes out fine.

I have not had a single document that went over 2 MB limit with 200 or less dpi resolution. If you have to break up a doc....put a note explaining in notes section during NVC upload.

I neglected to scan or photocopy my 2019 tax return before mailing it out on March 8. I still have the files I used to print it, which have the numbers already filled in, so I could conceivably print it again, but it doesn't have the original signature / date on it. The wording on the instructions is a "true copy", so while the relevant content of another print-out would be verbatim, it is not, in fact, the exact copy that was sent out. Would that sort of printed-again document be accepted for the I-864 proof of income? The mentions of perjury and penalties on the form and instructions are making me anxious about doing anything out of line.

I know I should just request a transcript for my return, but as my return was mailed-in instead of e-filed, it will probably take at least until mid-April (6-8 weeks, according to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/transcript-availability) to be able to do the request over the phone, and then another couple weeks for it to arrive. The convenient online IRS tool for downloading transcripts don't work for me while living abroad.

One other avenue I was considering was entering 2018 as my latest tax year (conceivable for people living abroad and filing close to the deadline) and using the transcript from that year, which I can do quickly and with a mostly clear conscience. I worry that that might just lead to an automatic rejection until I can provide evidence for 2019, though. And while it's not an outright lie, it isn't exactly honest, either.

Maybe it's my just deserts for getting my wife pregnant in January 😓

    Cccl.

Why are you so eager to add year 2019 tax transcripts?  2019 Tax deadline is 4/15 that means your prior 3 years would be 2016,2017, and 2018.

Just a FYI - To avoid hassle, back and forth with NVC, its always good to add IRS official tax transcripts over own copy of 1040 etc. I would think you are in good shape

if you have added IRS tax transcripts for 2016.2017, and 2018.

If your parents filed taxes together. One of your parent has to do the i864a. The i864a was the correct form since my 1st submission. If you're in the same boat as me, I'd try expediting as well.

    imjustintime,

You are in right direction here.

    andynguyen,

This is how I see it working from personal experience. Let me make some assumptions first:

    a) Your mom is the joint sponsor since your income may not qualify on its own if that is true then she need to file a I-864 of her own as joint sponsor.

    b) Your father will need to be added as household member of your mother (under her in NVC portal) and there he will need to upload his I-864A form. Here he will  also need to add proof of his citizenship or GC, US domicile, and marriage certificate.

    c) My guess they file taxes as marriage filling jointly so one set of IRS transcript will suffice added with your mothers documents.

    Hope this helps.

I'm having the same issue - been trying to upload one document for the past 2 days. Have tried Chrome, Opera.

What time did you upload? Did you do it early morning or late at night?

    GM,

I believe, It was late evening eastern US time. I used Firefox. I was not hopeful it would work, but to my surprise it worked with few forced logouts.

Only thing I can say is keep trying and you might catch a break.

IMHO its not a local computer issue, if it worked before it should work now as well. The issue is on NVC system side.

    one Question to everyone here!

do the Civil Documents have to be translated? ours are in Spanish, or am I understanding this wrong?

    Step 7: Collect Civil Documents

After you complete your DS-260(s), you and each family member immigrating with you MUST collect the civil documents required to support your visa application.

Your civil documents MUST be issued by the official issuing authority in your country. Please refer to the Document Finder to learn about the civil document requirements for each country.

Please note that all documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country from which you are applying, must be accompanied by certified translations. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that:

    • The translation is accurate, and
    • The translator is competent to translate.

Important Notice on Missing Documents: If a required document is unavailable per the country-specific guidelines, you do not need to scan the document into your CEAC. However, if you cannot obtain a required document for another reason, you must submit a detailed written explanation to NVC when you scan your other documents. During your visa interview, the consular officer will determine whether you must obtain the missing document before a visa can be issued. As a general rule, any document that is listed as “available” on the country-specific guidelines must be reviewed by a consular officer. Failure to obtain all required documents will delay your case.

No they don't need to be. Here is why from your quote directly right out of state dept website:

"Please note that all documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country from which you are applying, must be accompanied by certified translations."

They key here is: Not written in English, or in the official language of the country from which you are applying.

This simply means if you are going to have the interview in a country where the official language is Spanish then you are good . No translation is necessary.

Reverse would be true for example: You were going to have an interview in Poland and all your docs are in Spanish then you must translate them to English.

    Clear?

btw I just saved you lot of money and more delays. So, send me a friendly hug :)

I'm glad you did, we are working with a lawyer and his assistant so I'm not sure if they are trying hard enough. if it was me I would try until I get it but I don't think they have the time to try until they get it and they said they were going to try each day but I think they are just trying one time and if the system doesn't work well they just try another day. I'm about to call them and tell them to send me the files so I can try morning evening and night until I get them uploaded (it doesn't seem hard to do) but I don't want them to think that I want to do their job :(

    I hear you.

Their sense of urgency is not same as yours. Not all, but like doctors’ lawyers get sanitize. They do not understand the plight of immigrants. One thing I learned about this country be a Pitt bull and not a puddle when it comes to your affairs.

After all they charged you and not doing any favors. Be respectful and humble, but keep at it until it gets done.

I did everything on my own. It never occurred to me to hire a lawyer. If for some reason USCIS and NVC is hell bent to deny your case..not much these lawyers can do.

There is no appeal for immigration (meaning immigration court) decisions. Their decision is final. I better stop my soap box and let you go after this lawyer office :)

  7. I am having the same issue. Unable to upload any documents. This has been going on since yesterday and its still broken. I am trying to upload a corrected document because they rejected the previous.

To be precise, below is the message I am getting while trying to upload the documents via NVC site:

I have used every browser know to man and messed with all security settings, but nothing works.

Customer service is nonexistent at NVC. Plus they have a pretty incompetent IT staff because this website is pathetic.
