  1. Well Sunday 1-13 -08 My husbands mom got a call. They couldn't find the home so they called instead. Another home investigation. They wanted to know if his parents approved of our marriage. And If his mom knew we had a age diffrence. If she knew my name and she told them Cheryl and then she told him that i just traveled back home. The man was shocked. Then he talked to my husband for a while. I'm not getting my hopes up. We all know how Cairo works.

    Good luck...

They asked his mom if she knew about the age difference???? OUCH....We have an age difference...his mom KNOWS Im older..but not by HOW MUCH. (My age isn't anyones concern). His mom knows my name...but not my age..just that Im older. We can only hope and pray we get to skip a home visit...since we are K1..maybe they will figure we will have to deal with AOS interview more....who knows.... but good luck..

Have you met your fiance's Mom?

    Good luck by the way!

I am going to our interview and will meet them then...I've talked to her on the phone...mailed her letters and will meet her this next trip. We just never said how old I was...and she never has asked...she saw my pics and knew I was older.

  2. thoose are the same questions my fiances mom was aked... strange a phone visit.... well at least they are working on the case

Mellinda...did he have to pay for his??

  5. We are waiting for interview and we did not get the packet3 yet in the mail. We are going to go ahead and mail all the forms in and his medical apt is this coming Saturday. He has everything from me. So hopefully by next week it will be mailed. Im still in highschool so my mom is co sponsoring me. She is well over the income limit so that should not be a problem or atleast I hope. surely if my age was an issue they would not have approved the petition right? Im 17. would it help if i was there at the interview??? would they let me in too??

I had emailed Cairo on it...and they said that I was able to go. Weather they let me go up to the window is a different story but I certainly may sit with him. I think if you went it could show that the relationship is more valid..but I know Many here did not go and still had favorable outcomes...main thing for you is to show parental approval...I personally would get a notorized statement from parents showing approval to take along to interview. I know i will be attending and sitting with him...Im not young (not as you are)...but we do have an age gap... As I said before...copy and paste the email from the other thread into word...print it..and send it with the packet. Once they get it and you have verified they got it...start to email them for an interview date....stay proactive in this process...

For all others...stay proactive...I think Cairo needs to know we are watching our files and that we wont let them get dusty....dont overdo the emails...but stay proactive...any other suggestions for staying on top of things with Cairo....????

  6. Faith, Thanks for starting this thread...I too am waiting an interview date....just waiting on the last town for the police checks...hope to have packet 3 out the end of the week?! And then waiting for the interview and hope for the best on AP......good luck to everyone, melinda

I really didnt expect the police certificates to take so long...I know my packet 3 information didnt specify translations as being needed...and also know of members here that sent in packet 3 without them and had no trouble. I really think where they come into play is in the AOS. But I'd check on that...It may save you some time melinda...ask Tarek if his packet specifies he needs them. If it doesn't...he doesn't have to send it.

  7. I wish I could count myself among those waiting for interviews or AP, but we haven't even filed yet and won't for some months.

It makes me really really happy to see everyone here getting visas, but it's hard knowing that I haven't even started the process yet, and that going through Cairo, I'll probably have 9 to 12 months from the date of filing, possibly longer!

Anyways, my best wishes to everyone waiting in AP and on interviews.

I know how hard waiting is, no matter the reason for it.

    :star:

No matter where you are in the process, you are welcome to join us. You to are waiting for an interview...you are just earlier in the process than some...but your needs for a positive, supportive place is still jjust as needed...so welcome...the thought of the time and not knowing is overwhelming to say the least...and knowing you MAY be in for a long wait makes it harder. What has been hard for me is just not knowing....the endless black hole of lack of information....

    Good luck with filing...

  8. I would like to add that I will be keeping all of you awaiting your interviews in my thoughts and prayers. I consider it a privilege and an honour to lift up your requests to the Almighy God, and to offer encouragement should any of you need it.

Thank you. I know for myself, my process is relatively short so far compared to those in long AP waits..but seems no matter where you are in the process you need the support and encouragement from those around and the wait seems long....no matter what part of this you are in. Your encouragement is certainly needed and appreciated..thank you

Hi, I'm not MENA but I am waiting for an interview. I filed for K-1 in June 2007 as well. It took almost 6 months for my approval and then another 6 weeks in AP at NVC. I'm trying to remain positive and not stress out. My file arrived at the consulate this morning and I've already emailed them asking for packet 3&4. I hope it doesn't piss them off, but all they can say is No, right? So, we'll see. In Ghana, you get packet 3 and 4 at the same time and the interview dates are currently being scheduled for May 2008. I'm praying for no more AP. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed too. I'm considering call my congresswoman to get help with a sooner interview date. I haven't used her for anything, and I'm sort of sick of waiting. I actually thought this was a six month process soup to nuts. I didn't realize this would be a year. I'm trying to see if I can plan another trip to be there with him, even if only for his interview. I just miss my fiance a lot! Oh well, I know I'm preaching to the choir here.

We are glad you are here....a wait is a wait...MENA or not.....Iknow the Ghana wait is soooo very long til the interview and seems no matter how long, be it a month or 6 months...the wait for that interview to finally arrive seems forever. We are with yoiu and surrounding you with positive thought and prayer....I pray you dont have AP after all this as well.

  9. So far your processing has been relatively fast.

I wish you have a fast processing all the way through.

    Best of luck to you.

    Nutty

Compared to some..yes..I agree...thank you. And thank you for your wishes. We hope it will be speedy as well. I know there are a few others waiting, such as from Ghana, where the interviews take about 6 months to get through...

  10. I thought this would be a great place for those of us waiting for interviews in MENA to meet for ideas, information and support...a place to share, laugh and cry. This process is hard to say the least..and for those of us waiting for our interviews...it can be nerve wracking...So come on in and join us as we support each other through our interviews and beyond if needed.

My name is Faith. My fiance is from Egypt and we filed for our K1 June 2007. We just recieved an email for packet 3, because Im to impatient to wait for DHL...lol... Next week is his medical and we will send our papers on or around the 24th. We are both very nervous. I for one am nervous about the interview and more so the possible AP to follow. I will be traveling to Egypt to be with him for the interview.

Welcome to this thread...may God bless each of us as we travel through the MENA part of our journeys.

    Faith

  11. yeah, i noticed theres a lot of DV interviews even in jan...but there are very very few K1's???? I know the other two waiting are just hitting the 10 BUSINESS day time frame..due to holidays, weekends and all that....just seems like a long wait...but I hope they check the interview site or email in case they didnt get packet 4 for some strange reason...

At least Cairo is predictable in ONE thing....and that is that they are predictably UNpredictable...heheeh

  12. if you dont get packet 4..how do you know when the interview is???

I emailed and asked if an interview date had been assigned and you can watch the embassy website for your case number. :)

how long after returning packet 3 can we expect an interview date assigned...i've noticed a few recently, sent in packet 3 around dec 25 and still have no date for interview...

I just went back and looked at my email and about two weeks after returning the packet three, we were assigned an interview date for about 10 days later.

wow...ok..fast...comforting to know...scarey to....im soo nervous about being stuck in AP. I see others that have waited soo long..granted more of it is K3 but some k1's wait a bit to...

  14. I understand now, thanks PB! Well, here is what's shady... as far as the P4 is concerned my SO did get that but he was told by the DHL driver he wasn't going to hand it over unless my SO fork over 50LE !

Um yeah, another sh!tty thing about the Cairo consulate: they only send coorespondences by DHL, and the reciepient has to pay  They don't pay anything on their end. He will have to pay for anything they send him exept the visa (which he will pay anyway at the consulate after the interview)

so he will pay to get packet 3???:blink: nice to know...not all keep money like that handy...how much...for packet 3??

Unless something has changed in Cairo, no one should be paying for packet 4! My husband never even received his in time for the interview and he showed his ID card at the gate and was let into the embassy. Cairo has a list of all interviewees at the gate anyway.

if you dont get packet 4..how do you know when the interview is???

  16. Thanks, he has about 10 pics just in case...we got extra of everything.... Our petition hasn't been in Cairo long...but I emailed to find out after 3 days if packet 3 was mailed...instead of saying yes...they emailed the information...so who knows if it was mailed or what....is DHL not reliable in Cairo? Its not regular mail...I'd think it would be fairly reliable... I do know that fed ex... our first 2 shipments I sent had no problems..but the last one...they said his address wasn't right...(odd...it was the same one used in past..AND had his phone number listed..). So Im sure it was the laziness of the delivery driver or someone in sorting that just didn't take the time to find out information about the address.

I don't think the problem is with DHL.

Me neither, I think it's the consulate... if you go back and look at the pkt 3 info I posted (it's been floated around for awhile) this is exactly the email I got (well, with an extra statement about extending the approval bc it took so long). The attatchement with the doctor's info as well, I don't have a scanner.

Well, I agree...seems to be the consulate...My email didnt have the medical attachment...thank Allah I got it from here from someone with recent information....

  18. I emailed Cairo yesterday to find out if and when they had mailed out our packet 3 and they sent back all the instructions via email and stated to have my fiance collect that information and send it to them via DHL. Soooo, we dont need the actual packet 3? Just a print out of this email and our information will do?

Soooooooooooo, just mail this with the requested documents/info and we are set?? Sooooooo cool....

He had his labs done today and has physical Jan 23rd and will return Jan 24th for the sealed envelope...

We are excited that this is finally moving...even if its for a short time....

  19. Thank you for the information. He was told to go get lab work done tomorrow...then come for physical a week later...my understanding is they told him he'd leave with the papers since he did the lab work a week ahead...maybe this doctor is different?? Who knows....nothing seems consistant there...

That's what happened with my SO, so it sounds about right. It takes about a week to get lab work done here in the US as well. After they have the results, you go back for the rest of the physical and are given the info to take with you.

Don't forget to ask for copies of everything! I didn't tell my husband, but they gave them anyway and told him he would need it.

    Im lost, copies of what???

  20. THE EAGLE HAS LANDED...I REPEAT THE EAGLE HAS LANDED....

Our petition was recieved in Cairo this morning at 8:05AM Jan 10, 2008. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Anyways..I can call NVC to see when they mailed out the packet 3??????????????????????? Did i read that right? If soooo, way to cooooool. I'll call tomorrow if I can....

Also, I've been back and forth..my mother went to hospital yesterday on suspected stroke...she has been diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease and they are still determining transient strokes or other issues for other symptoms she has non specific to parkinsons...I ask for your prayers...

So, yeap...I have two of them...Dad with the all to rare Pick's Disease (works in opposite way of Alzheimers, but with end result being the same...) and mom with Parkinsons and a host of other issues.... so pray that Cairo doesn't drag its feet......Please dear God...let this go fast...
