    Anyone bring their child to AOS interview??

    We have our AOS interview on the 6th of November. :dance: However, our first child together will be just 1 month old at that time and I'd rather not leave her with anyone. So we're opting to bring her with. My 3 y/o will be staying with my sister while we're gone. I know someone who took her daughter to their interview and just had her sit on her lap...but I wanted to know if anyone had brought a infant along for theirs. I'm really not ready to leave our daughter with anyone for that long (we'll have a 45min drive both ways plus time for the interview) and I'm hoping it won't be a problem. :unsure:

    yeah i hope for the final invitation to an interview :P so i can can calm my nerves or at least a transfer ... btw they email you if there is a transfer correct??? how about when they send appt notice did you guys get any emails about that??? im going mad (slowly but surely!!!)

    We recieved our interview notice in the mail yesterday but never recieved a email saying it was sent out. Our I-485/I-130 haven't been touched since July when we first filed. lol

    Recieved interview date today!! We go November 6th @ 12:30! Not too early so we won't have to be up at the crack of dawn to get ready like I thought lol. Should be a interesting drive as we'll be taking along our then 1 month old daughter. :blink:

    JelloShotGirl - Our AOS hasn't been touched since July 17th and it still doesn't state they even sent us the interview notice so don't worry about it not being updated! You could get surprised like we did!

    EAD recieved today

    My husband recieved his work permit in the mail today. Now we'd like for him to get his SSN. Should we wait a certain amount of time before we go in to see about applying for one?

    I don't see any reason why you should wait, i received my EAD Sept 15th, applied for SSN Sept 18th. I had no probs.

    That's good to know! I just read a few threads where people had to wait like 2 weeks because they weren't in the system yet??

    @Lansbury, Oregon has different DMV rules than IN - IN does not accept any foreign DLs - asked and confirmed. I have 4 yrs of driving experience and still received a LP.

    I wasn't quoting Oregon I hopefully clearly said the agreement is between the UK and the US. If for some reason IN do not accept UK licences than a person holding an IN licence would not be able to use it in the UK, as the agreement is that all driving licences issued in one country are treated equally by the other.

    OR only allows a resident to drive for 30 days on a non OR licence but when I asked about my UK one I was told that they have to abide by the agreement in place and it was good for 12 months. I first became professionally aware of the US/UK driving licence agreement in 1977 it was certainly in place long before that, and applies to licences issued in all US States and the UK, and hasn't changed. If a State is refusing to abide by it the matter should be pursued by the applicant.

    How would people be able to say hire a car in Indiana using a UK licence otherwise.

    The 12 month agreement is true for IN. My husband has been driving on his UK license since we got a car. His 12 months will be up come December. The license branch knows he only has h is UK license right now and there was no problem for him to plate and register our car. He was also able to get car insurance no problem. I do not drive as of now so he's the only one who drives our car. That's why I asked if he'd have to go the permit route b/c the IN book states that while driving on a permit, you are only supposed to be in the car with another licensed driver. Which I am not licensed to drive and we need him to be able to drive us where we need to go as a family. KWIM?

    I only know about Indiana as I came from the DMV a few days ago after asking about what I would need to do. To get a learner's permit you need to sit a 50 question written test. 16 of these questions are road signs and you can miss one only.

    If you pass they give you a piece of paper saying that you can start to learn to drive, you cannot take the practical test for 60 days. Whilst this is going on they send your details to Homeland Security, who then do a check to see if you are a genuine immigrant. They then can issue you with the official learner's permit. You cannot take the driving practical test until you have received this permit from DHS.

    As your husband can already drive (I think?) the best thing you can do, and the surest way to find out any information, is actually go down to your local DMV rather than relying on information here that may or may not be correct for Indiana.

    I received my IN LP immediately after passing the 50 questions test (Lake County).

    I noticed a few people mentioned the salt & vinegar chips not tasting the same as Walkers - So I thought I'd post a website my husbands sister sent to him.     We just got word that my DH EAD card will be mailed so of course he'll be going to get his SSN. I have a quick question though as far as him getting a drivers license. Will he have to go about getting it like a American? He thought he heard before that he could just get his license transfered over here but I'm not so sure. I figured he'd have to go about getting his permit and holding that like everyone else and then taking the driving test. Am I right? We live in Indiana if that makes a difference.

    We are already registered online and also set to recieve emails but have never recieved any before. As far as sending it certified...we sent it usps and they said we couldn't get any kind of tracking on it since it was going to a PO box. :ranting: So now we're just waiting to see if we hear anything back or just recieved a interview date. I'm kinda anxious that they'll never get back to us and we'll be screwed. :whistle:

    Two bar codes means an order for biometric collection for two cases. In this case one for your AOS and one for your EAD.

    Your cases were both touched today because there was an entry made that the biometrics have indeed been collected.

    You will have to respond successfully to your RFE before any interim benefits will be issued.

    The nice lady at the office was just telling you how the process normally works. I'm sure she had no idea you have an outstanding RFE. It will need satisfied before the card will be issued.

    ahh ok. Well we're working on getting that mailed in HOPEFULLY Monday...just waiting on my dads info in the mail. Oh and AOS doesn't state it was touched today at all. Just the EAD.

    Question about husbands biometrics appt today

    So my hubby went for his biometrics appt today. He just told me the lady who did it told him something about his EAD he's waiting on (ok ok he said he told me earlier when we left ISCIS but I don't remember lol). Anyway, he said that right before he left the room she said in 3-4 weeks he'd recieve his permission to work. ?? I didn't think they told that kind of info at the biometerics? Also, we're currently waiting on tax info from my dad (joint sponser) to send back for a RFE we received...and it stated on that RFE that his EAD wouldn't be processed any further (along with AOS of course) until they recieved the RFE. So my questions are: Is what the lady said true? He'd get his EAD in 3-4 weeks? What about what the RFE states??

    Oh and also, I'm wondering if it IS true b/c I just checked the case online and the EAD was touched today. The I-485 and I-130 haven't been touched since July 17th.

    Mark had his biometrics appt this morning at 11am. We got a later start then we wanted since my son is sick and no one could watch him...but we got there 10 minutes before his appt. Was fairly easy to find (parking cost us $5) as well. After checking in he had a form to fill out and was called back (with 2 other people) within 3-5 minutes if that. He was back there for barely 15 minutes. The only bad thing about this "visit" was that my son got sick while we were waiting for Mark to get back but the security guy was very friendly and without even having to ask he told me where the bathroom was. :blush: The best part was it's practically down the street from the big Indianapolis Zoo so we took ds for his first zoo trip!! :thumbs:
