We do all things and trust me i had to jump thru hoops to do a 4 page RFE for immigration,  so i know 

It could be worse. We are grateful that she is well. The embassy didn't request the test. Nor the dr. 4 pages RFE! I shouldn't complain about some random technical issue then. 🙂

So the physician selected "no" in the check box next to the Hansen disease.  But the form didn't automatically update the testing check box appropriately. Seems like technical issue.

embassy says u gotta do it and sorry but it has to be done by either that dr or another on the list of your embassy qualified drs

The embassy simply suggested to follow-up with the physician when I explained to them what were told at the hospital. Another approved hospital said no, we don't do that test, nor can you redo the whole examination. 

And thank you for confirming my initial thought. The hospital staff still insist it is the CBC. 🤯 no idea where did they get that from.

There must have been some indication of the illness or history of family illness  to prompt the dr not to check the yes,  no or NA box and by not doing this it has already changed her class to Class A (suspect of having the illness)

 

 

Meanwhile,  u need to get the test done or the case will go no further 

you will more than likely need a second test to confirm a suspected illness is now clear if she is positive and has to go thru treatment

 

it will tell you whether she needs treatment and that can start 

then read the section under Hansen's Disease and Travel to understand when she would be able to come

Thank you! That explains a lot. So since the physician is not recommending to take the test and may be not willing to refer us to take it somewhere else, should we redo the medical exam along with the test in another hospital? I am just not sure what is he waiting for from the CDC. Surely they will not approve not having the test if he suspect she has it. 

I cannot claim to be en expert in immigration, nor am I a lawyer. I like to believe I have decent amount of common sense. But that is not really helping me understand the physician who conducted the medical examination. Long story short, the embassy asked during the interview whether mother did the medical examination or not. Which to me, means they are not aware of my medical examination conducted 20 days prior to the interview date. Passport was returned and I was advised to return it to the embassy when the medical exam is delivered. 

Fast forward. The physician isn't really clear about his dilemma. As far as I understood, there are tests to be conducted if required. The physician has an option to select yes, no or not applicable. Then he would upload the form to the embassy portal. 

He claims that there an issue with the form where he is unable to select yes , no or not applicable for the Hansen disease test. Mother isn't showing any Hansen disease related symptoms. He is also advising not to take the test as this would escalate mother's case to a different category that would result in denial. Even though she would test negative. 

We contacted the embassy explaining the issue with the physician and they advised to follow-up with the hospital who is awaiting for the "CBC" recommendations. In his own words, the physician said that they conducted about 200 medical examinations this past month. Only mother's is having this issue. 

Does anyone know what the "CBC" is? Do they mean the CDC? Can I have the medical examination done at a different hospital? How is going to affect the case? Do I need to retain a lawyer? There's not much to do but to wait while scratching my head over this.

Not much can be done but to follow what they say.

I already asked the lady at the hospital to do the test to get over with but she said we don't do that test here, we don't need to do it.

Hansen's disease is Leprosy 

Did she show any signs of the disease at the embassy like loss of eyebrows or eyelaches or patches of dark and light skin?   look up the illness and signs on internet to understand this better as i don't think they usually test for this

No, she don't have any signs of the disease, i wonder why they asked for that test. But mind something the hospital didn't send the examination result before the interview day.

My mother had here interview last Thursday in Cairo it went well but the medical examination wasn't sent to the embassy from the hospital so they gave the passport back and told us to send it when the examination sent to them. I contacted the hospital on the same day and the lady there told me we couldn't send the examination because they wanted and extra test which is Hansen disease and we don't do this test. The hospital contacted the embassy and the embassy told them to contact the cbc they did so and the cbc is off due to holidays and they will answer them after January 4 ...what the cbc could be and whether Hansen disease test is required for select immigrants ? And what could be done if the hospital where the medical examination is done is being not very straightforward about why there is a delay in delivering the results to the embassy ? 

Can i do the examination in another hospital?

It depends on what kind of visa you are applying for and where your interview will be held. in my case as a DV Winner and my interview location is cairo i don't need this form but i was thinking about taking it with me as an extra support.

While filling in form i-864 , page 4, parts 5 Sponsor's household size, item 1 and 8 box is not active. I am unable to enter the number of household. Is it ok to print the form and handwrite the number of house while all the other fields in the entire form are entered on the computer? Same issue with part 6. Sponsor's employment and income, item 1 and 2. And item 20 on page 5. Should I print the form and handwrite all the answers or is OK to type some and handwrite some?

I864 is for family and employment based applicants where the petitions require a sponsor. DV is self sponsoring and an affidavit of support is not required, but may be requested in cases where public charge considerations can’t be overcome. , Per 134 instructions, “Form I-134 may be used in any case in which the foreign national is inadmissible on public charge grounds, but in which he or she is not required to have Form I-864 filed on his or her behalf”.
