funny enough we got an RFE last week. my fiancé used her diplomatic passport which is valid for 5 years as a proof of US citizenship and they send up RFE refusing the passport and asking for another proof of citizenship. they only accept 10 years valid passports for citizens over 18 years old . our RFE was received yesterday so now we just waiting for their decision

No one can say for sure, but I'd bet that there is enough information already in her personnel file that a concise review should provide the answers that USCIS is looking for. We don't know with any certainty how long it will take. Keep your expectations low and when the approval does arrive you will be filled with joy. Good luck and stay engaged.

    Hello,

I am Feb 12 filler and still waiting for our NOA2. I see more and more February cases getting approved both cases actually before and after I got approved this week. I know it is different from one case to another. But I want to set my expectation.

My USC fiancee has been living around the globe for the last 10 years (she is a former department of state foreign service officer), and now works for a different federal agency. Does that mean her background check will take longer? Should we lower our expectations for when we will get our approval?

    thanks

It's rare that a bonafide I-129f, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) application is NOID (declined). So, you have that to remove from your plate. Next, yes you do need to change your address. The immigration process is ripe with rules and procedures, none of them can be or should be circumvented or you will face exactly what you are advocating in your post that you don't want to happen. Play by the rules and you will be fine. This is not a process where you get to pick and choose what you want to do or submit it's about following their guidelines.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

        • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
        • it will take as long as it will take
        • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
        • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
        • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
        • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
        • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

    Good luck on your journey

Received a USCIS Text alert this morning at 530am (I live in California). 🙏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Probably the best thing to wake up to! Thank you everyone for the support and the advice and positive energy. Those who haven't received their approvals- your time is coming up soon 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Im gonna guess- that this was possibly approved yesterday and that their system doesn't update approvals til the following morning- unless they have a very enthusiastic agent that likes to work at 530am 😆😆. Either way , Im super thankful!

    NOA1: Feb 6
    NOA2: May 6

The second picture is a screenshot from the Lawfully app. Their estimate of approval timeframe was May 6- June 5. So they were pretty spot on in their guesstimate.
