please DO NOT underestimate the time Required for the preparation of AOS with the new Form I944 added into the mix.

 

Laura - I would not wait for the SOCIAL

 

it takes time too - I received mine after fighting a small battle -

 

furthermore  despite having a Social- the credit Bureaus Still Doesn’t recognize the social- that can take 90-120 days after issuance. 

Thanks for your suggestion. I will do what other suggested, of going online to Credit Karma, or any other free credit site,  type in the SSN and take a picture of the error message. And yes lets hope that USCIS see how much of a struggle this process is for people that enter the USA on a K1 visa.

Thanks for all the suggestion, we will definitely have to do was some of you suggested.  My husband and I are also dealing with this same issue of not having a social security number. He came here on a K1 visa in Feb, we married March 3rd, and now ready for the AOS. I was told this morning by an agent at Equifax that they DO NOT send proof of no credit history by mail to someone that does not have a social security number. 😢. So she suggested we go to the social security office and get a number. I must send his AOS packaged by May 2nd, so after getting his number, even though it take a long time for the system to recognize it, we will have to screen shot those error messages saying there is not proof of credit history for that number and send that, along with a type note to USCIS. 

This process has been so frustrating! Specially since we, the couples dealing with this I-944 form are the fist batch. But on the brighter side, after this we will all be pros, and we will be able to give advice to others. Wishing a smooth process for everyone.

I am new here and I see that we are all feeling nervous about this  I-944 form 😤.  My now husband came here on Feb 3rd on a K-1 visa,  we got married March 3rd and are now ready to submit the AOS forms, but I am  stressing about the credit reports and score for him since he does not even have a SSI yet. Also this question about showing English proficiency, I mean he speaks 6 languages, but never went to school to study them, he just learn them on his own. I really hope USCIS rethinks about having K-1 visa applicants submit this form during the AOS process, nothing in this form applies to him/us. Well just wanted to share a little about how I am feeling. Good luck to all of us the will be dealing with this in the next coming months.
