You do not NEED a Lawyer

I 130 is what you need to file and the guides here help.

You’re the best. Thank you so much

Here is the guide for the I130 process you are about to start.  We are here to help answer questions, but the form is fairly simple and can be filed and paid for online.  You should also study the N400 guide for yourself as even though you have two years before you can naturalize, you can start doing research now.

    Good Luck!

    Thank you.

Being married you have changed your marital staus.

No need to change your last name, purely a personal choice, I did not.

Thank you so much, you’ve been really helpful. Do you know the first thing I have to do in order to start the process? Do I need a lawyer? Sorry I’m asking too many questions. What’s the first thing I have to do?

That is going to be a looong time.

F1 could definitely be tricky but the only way of finding out is to apply, one of the things he will need to do on hos application is to declare is his US Spouse.

Presumably he can show adequate financial resources? I tend to think of CZ as a cheaper option, US is the opposite.

Presumably he declared you as his spouse on his B application?

Can you throw more light on this? Are you saying it’ll take so long to petition for my husband even after I become a citizen?

  4. Hi people, I need some guidelines pls. I am a GC holder in the United States and I recently just got married last December.

My husband lives in Europe(CZech republic) and is a student doing his masters, almost rounding up and is thinking of doing his PHD in the US because we thought about me filing for him and It’d take more than 2yrs before he comes into the country.

We’ve been together for 3yrs and we re tired of being separated from each other, we are looking for ways to be together.

My question is, should we go ahead and start the filing process or should we go ahead and look for schools in the US for PhD before starting the filing process? Is it going to be complicated if I we start filing before he gets a school for PHD?

He went for an interview in December in order to attend a conference in Jan and got denied because he was told he didn’t have strong ties in CZech. He has a stable job and is also a student. I don’t want us to make mistakes that’s why I’m asking. Please somebody help. I have until 2026 before I become a citizen. Thank you in Advance.

By your definition of "Traditionally", i assume a bride price was paid, right? If yes, then you're officially married in the eyes of the law. Traditional Marriage is one of the recognised type of marriage in Nigeria. You need to approach a Local registry to register such union. Traditional and Court Marriage are two different types that does not meddle with each other as identified by the Nigerian Law. The only difference is that Traditional Marriage isn't suitable for Immigration purposes as it allows Polygamy but it still does not rule out the fact that its a union within the jurisdiction in which it happened.

That said, the chances of your partner with a Visitor's visa is slim since he's a student in the UK and by your union might be assumed to have immigration intent as he has a very low ties to the U.K where he's not a resident.

You can give it a shot if you've got a couple of bulks to blow but i wouldn't get my hopes high. Still, like a saying, you loose 100 percent of a chance you didn't take.

Also, don't ever lie to Immigration Officer, they always find out things. If you decided to try and the question pops up, makes sure he paints the exact picture and not hide specifics. Cheers

I wasn’t going to lie to them. I am yet to change my status to Mrs since I do not ve a certificate In order to start filing for him. I just want to know the chance of it being granted. I am trying to get a Visa to Europe myself since I was told it was going to take 15days but den, I stil want to know if he should apply.

Looking at 4 months to get an appointment.

  6. Hi Guys, I need your help no matter how little it is. I am an LPR in the United States, a Nigerian, a newly Wed. My husband is currently on a student visa in Europe due to his masters. We’ve been away for 8months🥲and we re looking for a way he can come visit me for the Christmas holiday and then go back after spending a week or 2 with me. We really don’t know if it is a good idea for him to apply and he’ll b granted, we don’t even know where to start from, should he apply, should he not? We just got married in Jan and ve been away since March, is it a good idea for him to apply and not get refused? Can he apply for a Tourist visa or?

  7. Hi Guys, it’s been 4 months and some days since I entered the United States with an immigrant visa and my green card has not been issued yet. I called the USCIS and they asked if it’s been over 90 days since I got here and I said yes, they collected my receipt number and said I should call back in 30days if I’ve not heard anything about my green card. Any suggestions on what to do? Is there something wrong? Any help will be appreciated

  8. Thank you guys, I appreciate sincerely. You guys have been really helpful and I cannot wait to thank you all once I’ve gotten the Visa. My brother said he has applied for the Tax Transcript so he should get it by Wednesday and I can forward it to them by Thursday. Hopefully God finishes the rest. Thank u all, I do not take your helps for granted.

It was your job to tell the co-sponsor ahead of time that it would be needed. You didn't bring one of the most important documents of the entire process and you're wondering what went wrong? You failed to read and follow the instructions, this is on you. No one can tell you how long it will take, especially through Nigeria(one of the toughest consulates) in the middle of a worldwide pandemic.

I don’t know how this thing works, I don’t know anything about Tax Transcript, I went with all the docs he asked me to go to with. My Co Sponsor is my brother and I felt everything was complete cos I know nothing about tax and I kept on asking him if everything was complete and he said yes. I don’t even know what a Tax Transcript looks like to begin with.

That makes no sense.  He can absolutely send it to you electronically.  There is no reason why it would need to be sent via the post.

And, it will take as long as it takes.  Sounds like you went to your interview without all of the requested/required supporting documentation, so naturally it will take longer for them to arrive at a decision about your case.

I went with all they requested for excluding the Transcript. I told my Co Sponsor and he said he didn’t know it was going to be needed.

  11. Hi guys, Good morning y’all. I am worried and I need someone to tell me it’s okay. I went for my immigrant Visa interview yesterday, after all said and done my passport was returned to me with a white paper saying I should submit my Co-Sponsors IRS Tax Return Transcript  for 2019 or 2020 which he’s working on already and It’ll take almost a week because he has to send it to Nigeria from the states.  Is this something to be worried about? Is there a deadline to this?
