Hi, on the NVC webpage is says documents written in the language from the country from which you are applying do not need to be translated.
In your experience: does NVC accept documents that are only written in Dutch?

I was looking for it too and my fiancé found it using the web archive website. Hopefully it works for you too!
https://web.archive.org/web/20210330132147/https://photos.state.gov/libraries/netherlands/19452/public/IVNIVVOGAPPSUPP.pdfThanks. In the end it actually worked out by simply taking a screenshot of the NVC webpage and sending that along with the VOG application form.

Yes, the link is broken. But I already got it from other source anyway, thanks for your reply.
Could you list the source? I also need the letter but the link is still broken on the original .gov website...

Hi everyone!
I am Italian/American and my boyfriend is Dutch. We live together in Italy.
I feel stuck because we don't know what to do. He visited Iraq in 2013 and because of that cannot visit the US without a visa... but the consulate(s) are not processing visitor visas and we don't know when they will start again. We want to visit the US together before finalizing our plan to move to the US, as our move depends entirely on whether or not he feels comfortable in NYC where I am from.
Unfortunately I think you are out of luck...the only remedy would be if he visited Iraq in official capacity as part of the Dutch Military or diplomatic corps.

Handig!

Hi all,
I am very new to this so I apologize in advance for asking any questions that I should have been able to find, but didn't or if my question is in the wrong topic.
My girlfriend and I met during the pandemic online... This is a first time for me meeting someone like this and falling absolutely crazy in love.
I'm based in The Netherlands and she's living in New York. Of course we want to meet as soon as possible, but we all know that the current travel restrictions aren't really allowing for that to happen. I have applied and gotten my ESTA this week, just in anticipation of being able to travel at some point. With airports opening up again, I am hopeful things might change.
My question for now is; do I need anything else besides my ESTA to be able to visit her for just a couple of weeks? I have traveled to the US before on just an ESTA, but that was of course pre-COVID and for business reasons. I just got a bit confused with all the visa things that I read about and it would be great if anyone could help me out with this question.
Also if anyone has more information about US citizens traveling to The Netherlands and if any exemptions are possible there.
I'd appreciate any advice or answers!!!
Thank you so much
Madelon
There is no ban for European travellers to the US. There only is a ban for people that have been present in the Schengen area. If you really-really want to visit the US you could go to for example Mexico, spent two weeks in there and then travel onwards to the US.

Hi allen!

Somewhat different question: do any of you have experience shipping possessions (furniture and some boxes) from the Netherlands to the US? We're planning our move for early July (fingers crossed there will still be flights available at that point) and are thinking of taking some of our furniture and possessions with us. We'll have to put it in storage for a while once it gets to the US, so we're not necessarily looking for door-to-door service.
We shipped part of our stuff across the ocean (NL->US) last year. Feel free to DM me with any questions.
General info:
We paid 3150 euro for 9 m^3, with full door-to-door service. The company we used also offered to temporarily store on arrival.
Add to this:
- cost of insurance [if you want that]
- outside elevator [if applicable]
- parking permit [if applicable]
- extra costs due to US customs (they charge money when your container is flagged...).
Timeline
- June 12: Stuff picked up at our house
- July 24: Departure from Rotterdam
- August XX?: Arrival in NYC
- August 30: Delivered to our house in Connecticut
We did not have a full container, hence the wait time between pickup and departure from Rotterdam (they combine shipments in a container).
Also our container was flagged by US Customs, which happens frequently, adding some more time.

Adding to the discussion: because you were a non-resident alien last year, you do not have to comply with FBAR, i.e., fincen form 114, when doing your US taxes for 2019 (due april 2020). Lucky you -;)

Sounds good, thanks! Did you also not translate the VOG?
