ok yah i read those before. maybe i worded the question wrong. what is in pack-3 & pack-4 specifically?
-
i have been checking timelines of other members. with the same uscis processing location & country my fiance is from. something occured to me. i don't even know what packet-3 & packet-4 are. i'm thinking one is a notice for me to gather support & other evidence, and one for her to get her things (nbi, nso, local police, medical, etc). is this correct?
-
What did you mean by "if you want to stand up you can"?
The phrase "gimme train" is inherently insulting to people you accuse of being, um, on it.
YES if they do not try to stand up they are riding the "GIMME TRAIN"
Stand up- get off assistance programs
if i insulted anyonr i'm sorry.... but, if the truth hurts... do something to change it.

Clearly, you had some edges most in poverty do not- as I have as well ( A parent with a degree, and a very high IQ, and a middle class family). Most of the poor do not come from middle class families.
And you are correct- spanking is a cultural/generational issue. I was trying to make the point, that violence is more common in poor families.
I congratulate you on your success, and also my success. But, it certainly is not the norm, I believe, because the culture of poverty does not allow it to be.
The stress on a school child from poverty- is very different than that of a school child from adequate ( if basic middle class) means- and seriously affects school performance and life success. (i.e.- having a painful cavity for 2-3 or more weeks because you don't have health insurance- how well can you do in school?; having to babysit younger siblings after school, prepare dinner, do baths.... and check homework because Mom is working- when does your homework get done?; having to work the 3-11 pm shift- walk home and wake at 4 to do homework so you can be an "A" student and break the cycle of poverty.)
The worry, stress, and hopelessness that come with growing up in poverty creates a permanent poor.
It is superhuman to break out of this. And it totally depends on parenting that raises you to be resilient and persevering. Many hopeless parents cannot embrace and preach resilience and perseverance if they don't believe it exists.
Just my thoughts.
I agree! Jamal grew up 'poor' in North Philly. He found that the military was his only escape. He's very clever but due to certain situations in his life he did not get the grades needed to go to college. He grew up knowing what its like to be hungry, wondering why he was even here and having to work from the age of 10 to support his family. He is a very strong person and I'm so proud of him that he overcame the things that happened to him early in life. He tells me that many people who grew up on his block are still there to this day. It's not they chose this life, its because they are not as strong as him and its very wrong to blame these people and say its their fault, they chose this poor life.
my point exactly Jamal didn't want to ride the "gimme train". he saw an out in the military & took it.
look i'm not downing anyone on any assistance program. the programs are there for a reason-to give a hand up-, too many use them for a -hand out-. if you don't try to do it on your own. you are riding the "gimme train" your whole life.
You missed her point. She's saying her husband's exceptional motivation makes him the exception. You are still blaming his old neighbors. You can be poor, and not accepting/qualifying for government assistance; so how is it fair to make fun of all those people as being on some sort of "gimme train" (which I can only assume means that you see them as asking for handouts instead of working)?
uummm NO i think you missed my point. if you want to stand up you can. and i never made fun of anyone

This thing is such a clusterf*ck that they need to trash it.
couldn't have said it any better.

then get off your soapbox.
i was raised by a single mother w/ 4 kids, working 3 crappy jobs. NEVER did we get on welfare. i graduated hs/college. i live pretty comfy now. why? because i made the Choice not to take hand out...oops i mean gov't assistance live style. people in the US do not understand what poverty is. poverty is something you can not escape. being on the gimme train is a different story.
The poll is asking about poverty in America, and as was clarified subsequently, defined as living below the poverty level. Saying that poverty in America does not exist like it does in other countries is really beside the point.
yes that is what the poll state. but, then we go on a whaa whaa session about how the deck is stacked against people.
-
Ok,
Not to soapbox, but this issue is closest to my heart and political being. America is designed to keep the poor - POOR, and to keep the rich- RICH.
How else do you explain our CONSTITUTIONAL public education.
(Oh- and by the way- YES - I did break out of poverty- as did all of my 3 siblings- I believe God, luck, and a hyper-religious Catholic mother who home-schooled us played a part in this)
If education is the key to economic success, how is it that I taught in Central PA- where $3,000 is spent per pupil- porta potties as toilets/ and imagine the quality of teacher they attract at 28,000. VERSUS- Our district where $27, 000 is spent per pupil- average starting salary over $50,000?
Which child do you think is more equipped to succeed?
With the 14th amendment (calling for equal opportunity of all citizens) how is it we base education on property taxes.
Please tell me after 12 years of schooling- who indeed is more equipped to succeed?
then get off your soapbox.

it depends on what you call poverty. i personally did'nt understand true poverty until i was outside of the US.

SWEET!!! CONGRATS.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way. There was a good question there about whether her first name IS her signature. My signature is basically a glorified line.
Ask her how she would sign it in the interview. These problems are simple to overcome without reason to delay yourself further.
yah it was a good question. but, i've seen her sig & it's first & last. still my fault. it won't happen again.
-
well maybe im just a chicken. but, its not my neck i'd be sticking out if i fudge this form. its my fiances. what if it goes all the way to the interview, the interviewer is having a bad day. then she signs infront of the interviewer & signatures don't match or the hand writing is different?
i can not put her in that position. i'm pretty sure if you get busted playing games w/ immigration its GAME OVER! its not worth the risk. its only 1-1 1/2 more months worst case. i couldn't live w/ myself if something went wrong and we could never be together. ITS MY FAULT I DIDN'T HAVE HER BETTER PREPARED!!!
-
it just keeps getting worse. after i looked everything over again.....she only signed her first name
. i'm gonna type her form G-325A & send it to her tomorrow. its only a month longer
but, what else can i do?
-
OK i've got another issue now. go figure!! i just got the paperwork back from my fiance. i don't know if the passport photo will work. i told her a paasport style photo 2" x 2". she sent me a photo measuring. 1-3/8" x 1 3/4" the exact size of my photo on my passport. in the instructions for form I-129F it says passport style photo w/ no dimensions. the state dept. website recommends 2" x 2". do you think i'm ok?

pushbrk
after i thought about it you're exactly right. no need to give anyone a reason to make it harder on us. i'm still going to send everything else, just no western union info. basically because i already have it printed. i got the letter for my fiance w/ her G-325A, passport photo, & letter of intent. but, i was'nt home so, i gotta go pick it up tommorrow at the post office. so, after i get it. i just have to organize everything & mail it. Pushbrk you helped a lot-you answered a ? i had about the G-325A the other day as well. people like yourself, & timsdaisy should get some kinda medal. it's great that you guys can give good advice & calm people down when we're stressin so much.
i'll be posting a timelime soon. thanks again!
Hey I saw all that was posted in this thread and I sent probably all of that info that you wanted to send but I made sure my fiancee had the exact orginals that I sent to them for her interview when that day comes. I think it proves how serious you are about taking care of your fiancee whether it helps or not who cares but I don't think it hurts, or I don't think they will throw it away. Good luck Also I have been to the Philippines 3 times since 6/23/06 and I sent them all 3 ticket stubs and receipts did I have to no but I did.
yah, im sending everything in the app. except the transfers. i think pushbrk is right- don't giv'em a reason- and like everyone else is saying " i don't need to show support yet ". i will keep the transfer receits & everything else to send my fiance after the I-129F is approved. im gonna go ahead & contact the irs for my tax records. thats the only thing i see me really stessed about once round 2 starts. i'm gonna check the site to see how to, but if anyone reads this & knows. please let me know.

VisaJourney.com > Step-by-Step Guide on How to File for a K-1 Visa for your Foreign Fiance(e)
Step-by-Step Guide on How to File for a K-1 Visa for your Foreign Fiance(e)
These are the basic steps required by the US Citizen. These steps should be followed as a guideline and not as specific requirements for any given case. Every case is unique and this does not address that uniqueness.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: For an overview of the K-1 process, please see the K-1 Flowchart.
Download the Following Forms:
1. I-129F
2. G-325a
The above forms can be filled out on your computer and printed. Make sure you sign and date them as required. Anything you cannot fit by typing, you can handwrite (very neatly) in black ink in the blank instead. You should always verify the current forms at www.uscis.gov.
Assembling the I-129F Package: Checklist
Forms and Documents (follow these assembly instructions. All supporting documents must be in English or be translated as noted here.):
1. Payment as required by USCIS. Use a personal check so you can track the payment. Money Orders are also accepted.
2. Cover Letter (see example). Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-129F), a table of contents (list everything in the packet). If you need additional room to explain your case, attach a separate sheet (list the attachment on the cover sheet). Make sure to sign and date the cover sheet.
3. Form I-129F: Petition for Alien Fiance(e) (see example)
4. Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page attachment regarding question 18 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it.
5. Original statements (from both the US Citizen and foreign fiance) certifying an intent to marry within 90 days of entering the US on a valid K-1. (see example)
6. Proof of having met in past two years. (click here for examples)
7. G-325A (all four pages) filled out by the US Citizen signed and dated (see example)
8. One passport-type photo (see specification) of the US Citizen. Write the full name of the US citizen on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert US Citizen's Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.
9. G-325A (all four pages) filled out by the foreign fiance(e) signed and dated (see example)
10. One passport-type photo (see specification) of the foreign fiance(e). Write the full name of the foreign fiance(e) on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of (insert foreign fiance(e) name) ". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.
11. Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport issued with a validity of at least 5 years or a copy of the US Citizen's naturalization certificate (front and back). This is used to establish citizenship.
12. Copy of final Divorce Decree(s) or Certificate(s) for the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) if either has been previously married. If the previous marriage of the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) ended due to the death of their spouse then include a Copy of Death Certificate(s) documenting that fact.
13. Proof of Legal Name Change if either the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) is using a name other than that shown on the relevant documents. You must give USCIS copies of the legal documents that made the change, such as a marriage certificate, adoption decree or court order.
14. In regards to Section C Question 2, if applicable provide certified copies of all court and police records showing the charges and dispositions for any specified conviction(s) (in accordance with the IMBRA). See section 9 of the I-129f instructions for more information.
Documentary Proof of Having Met in Person in the Past Two Years and an Ongoing Relationship:
Use as many of these items are possible. There is no minimum,
but the more you can provide the less likely you are that you will receive an RFE. 1. Copies of all airline boarding passes, train passes, itineraries, hotel receipts, passport stamps (make sure you can read the dates on the stamps), and other documentary evidence that you have met within the last two years. You may want to highlight or place post-it notes indicating the dates and locations on the copies (to make the adjudication easier) for the person reviewing your file.
2. Color Photo's of you and your fiance(e) together. Make sure you write your names, date, and location on the back of every photo. Provide two to five photo's. If you only have a single copy of the photo, then make a color copy and send that. If it is a digital photo, have it printed at a company such as ofoto.com. You can also make duplicates of photo's at your local photo store (Walgreeens, CVS, etc). Place photo's in a plastic bag or photo sheet and label the sheet. Note that you may not receive originals of photo's back.
3. The following items will not typically show proof of having met in the last two years however will show proof of an ongoing relationship: Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)
Mail the I-129F Package to the USCIS
Section 12 of the I-129F instructions lists where you should mail the completed form(s). If you live in the United States this will be the Service Center with jurisdiction over the petitioner's place of residence. Mail the package with return receipt requested / delivery confirmation. Send via USPS.
IMPORTANT!
Make TWO copies of the entire package before you send it in. This includes the money orders too. You want to have a perfect replica of the package you are sending in. All Forms that you submit must be originals with original signatures. Supporting Evidence that you submit may be photocopies. Retain ALL original supporting Evidence since the USCIS has the right to check them by issuing an RFE (Request For Evidence). If you receive an RFE, follow the direction exactly, and make two copies of what you sent back. During any future interviews the USCIS may also want to examine the original supporting evidence.
-
Letters are good, but don't stress about sending them now. That quoted text is from the horse's mouth - not made up - and is good information. Including them won't hurt you - but it won't help either. Make sure, if you elect to send unnecessary items, that you send ONLY COPIES and keep the originals. You can use them later at the interview (though you'll want to gather some new letters and phone bills from the time between filing and the interview as well).
Don't panic - including the right evidence is easy once you know what it is. USCIS should include the information I quoted above (from RFE letters received by many people) in the instruction form on the I-129F. But they don't.
Ditto on the copies. The one thing I would definitely leave out now and later is the evidence of money transfers. Those actually do not help and can cause suspicion of visa fraud. Don't lie about them if asked but don't give them something they might require you to explain.
how would money transfers cause suspicion of fraud? they are going to her not to me, and its common since why i would send her money. she lives in the Philippines, the economy isn't that great. i love her..anything i can do to make her life a little easier, is going to happen. IMO the money transfers is a no brainer.
-
yes i have letters also. thanks for reminding me. see how scatter brained this is making me?
thanks everyone.
-
okay, i've got my I-129F completeted, both of our G-325A's completed. proof of citizenship, my fiances birth cert. & copies of her passport. now i'm worried about getting a RFE, this is what i have.
Proof of having met in person in the last 2 years: A RECEIPT of my trip to philippines printed on a Cathay Pacific boarding pass ticket. it shows flight #'s and dates (my actual boarding passes were destroyed in a small garage fire). my passport w/ philippine date stamps. 8 receipts from resorts we went to while i was there. my cell phone records showing calls made on my phone from within the philippines. 6 pictures of us together.
Proof of an ongoing relationship: western union money transfer receipts (9 total), my cell records from the last year-call & text. copies of the envelopes we sent cards & letters to each other (6 total).
I think it's enough, do you?
-
List any professional organizations you belong to. My wife for example listed,
Turkish association of Nurses..
Women Educators Society (something like that)
Things of that nature.
what if i am professional but not working it is include of association?
no, i don't think so. i would just put none or n/a there.
-
All I did was punch the two holes at the top and separated each part by application (K-1 petition, G325a, etc.) didn't use clips of any kind. We were approved shortly thereafter. Nothing special about how we presented the information...just made sure they had what they wanted. No RFE either.
Some people get so caught up in how it's presented...and still some get RFE's for missing info. Just make sure everything is there and in order. IMHO that's all that really matters.
yah i know info before show. i just wanted to make sure. i'm planning to do almost exactly what you did. i'm putting it in a press board flip folder w/ paper clips to bind documents w/ forms.thanks!
