Hey, everyone! Since I am to applying for AOS after the Public Charge law went into effect, I think I must fill this form: I-944. Could you confirm? Also, is my wife considered a member of my household?

A medical is considered expired if it is past a year since you did it. When did you do yours? When are you planning to submit your AOS packet?

I did my medical around November and yes, I'm planning on submitting my AOS packet soon!

Yes! Today I went to a Deferred Inspection Office and handed the packet out.

I have another question about the medical forms for the AOS. Did you guys have to certify the Form I-693 by a civil surgeon? And what does  "If overseas medical expired" mean exactly? How can I check?

Hi, guys! Thank you for sharing your experiences. It's very helpful. I have a couple of questions.

I got to the states on a k1. The doctor seemed to mess up my i-693 ( I didn't notice at the time ) because the one she handed to me is only one page and some parts of it are missing. We know there is another one in the packet but we are not supposed to open it but when I got to the states, the immigration officer didn't open out my packet or anything.

1) Can the fact that the officer didn't open up my packet bring me problems for AOS?
2) If not, should I open the packet and take the i-693?
3) If so, what should I do?

I agree with Buenos Aires and putting the contact information you have. Just be honest and tell how everything is. If they have doubts they will ask you in the interview. 
You don’t need to translate the BC for the interview, but yes for AOS. I translated myself and did a certification letter signing that I was fluent in the lenguage

Hey, completely unknown user for me, I just said Buenos Aires. As a point of contact, I wrote my fiancees family and then I said I had no family members in the States.

Everyone else: Hi!! I was wondering if you translated your birth certificate and if so, how did you do it? Did you translate it yourselves or did you pay for a service? If the service is Argentine, do we need a certification from the college of translators?

To obtain your Acta (if you don't have the original): https://www.buenosaires.gob.ar/tramites/solicitud-de-partidas and select "Partidas pagas" so you get a certified copy. They will email you a PDF or you can pick it up at your closest civil registry. Cost: $315 pesos

 

SECOND

Once you have the Acta, you must legalize it with the Ministry of the Interior (Av. Leandro N. Alem 150): https://legalizaciones.mininterior.gob.ar/public/controller/index.php Enter your info and then select a date and time to appear in person to have it legalized. Cost: free

 

THIRD

To use your Acta in the U.S. (for AOS/EAD/AP, etc.), it must be apostilled with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Esmeralda 1214): https://www.argentina.gob.ar/legalizar-o-apostillar-un-documento Same as above, enter your info and select a date and time to appear in person to have it apostilled. Cost: $300 pesos 

 

FOURTH

Translate everything (including apostille) into English using a certified translator. We used https://www.daytranslations.com/ for other documents we're submitting. We scanned everything, uploaded it, and had the full translation/certification in 24 hours. 

 

For the interview, you really only need step 1. But we're doing everything else in advance since it's easier and faster while still in Argentina.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hey, everyone! One question: We have the PDF of the Acta, and I was wondering, should we print it to have it legalized, apostilled and translated? Or should we restart and get a physical copy instead? Thank you so much for all the help. This thread has been priceless throughout the whole VISA process.
