  1. As far as I know it is standard procedure and I would assume yes to a standard document. The police station knows it is for the embassy. Do you know about the contents sent in Packet 3?? Is there a packet 4????

Ok, than, you have nothing to worry about. It's good you've started taking care of it in advance.

As far as I know there is only packet 3 that your girl gets in the mail. It's ONLY ONE packet in cases with Russian K1 visas.

There is a description of papers to bring, types of photos to take for the visa and such-like stuff in packet 3. Nothing to worry about. But I am not 100% sure. wait for others to reply here.

  2. Another classics is Интердевочка. 2 parts, the first one is funny, the second one is sort of sad, but the movie might be helpful, it might explain a lot... And the direction and acting is high-class. Sort of melodramatic, though...

  3. Yes she said the main guy had to do it. They will send her a letter in a month and then she can pick it up 2 days after. She lives in Vladimir. I will be there in 1 week so when I get there I will look into it further.

Just surprised why it's taking them so long... Probably because it's a big city. Strange! Do they have a standard procedure and a standard document for it? Very interesting...

That's really good that you are going there! It will be very helpful for the whole process!

  4. My fiance went to the police station for her police certificate. She will get it in a month.

In a month? That seems a bit long! Where does she live? A girl I know did it in a couple of minutes - she just went to the local police station and didn't talk to clerks - she got straight to some major and he wrote and signed everything in moments.

  5. Us men are quite simple creatures when it comes right down to it... All you've gotta do is keep our bellies full of good food, make love to us every now and then, and try not to bother us too much on Sunday afternoons when we're watching the football games, and that's it - we're good to go!

Yep, that's right! It's also great when your gal can sit through a couple of games with you and cheer for your team every once in a while!

  6. Anyone know where to find Russian movies with a region 1 encoding and English translations and/or subtitles?

(Specifically looking for Lichny Nomer ("Countdown" in U.S., I rented it from MoscowFlix already, and it was only the foreign language version that wouldn't play in the DVD players. It worked in my computer, but didn't have any English.)

There are a $#!tload of good Russian movies out there, where have you guys found them?

torrents.ru is the best. But I don't think they have subtitles though... And you have to have BitTorrent program to download them.

If you buy a licensed disk with a movie on-line or in a store in Russia they usually have the subtitles and work everywhere. Just check the description.

  7. My fiancee had her interview this morning, and everything went smoothly and her visa was approved! :)

Next step is for me to order her airline ticket. She can't come until after July 1st, so the best deal I've been able to find is a one-way Air France flight from Moscow to Atlanta on July 3rd for $1,027.

    Great!!!!! Congratulations!

Try Airflot or Delta for tickets, might be better. Finnair is decent too. 1-stop flight might be cheaper...

  8. hello everyone...my fiancee is finishing up her school and will be here in july...i was wondering if anyone could share their experience on translating the degrees there spouse brought over...like how the process worked...did they look at the grades also or like a pass/faiil thing...any information is appreciated...i looked for previous topics about this and found only one which wasnt quite detailed...

fyi...my fiance is going to kazan pedagogical university...sorry about the spelling!

    thanks in advance

    That's very easy:

    I used http://www.iee-usa.com

You just print out all the applications from their site (they do the translation so you don't have to bother), and mail it all to them together with the diploma. The fee was more than $100 but less than $200 (I don't really remember). They are reliable, helpful and relatively fast. You can call them and they will explain all the stuff. They have good credentials.
