Ladies,

I am at my wits end. I haven't been around the message board for a bit because I guess I was hoping I would have some answers or stuff would work, etc. It has been over two weeks since I've talked to my SO and I don't know what is going on or what has happened. He won't or can't take my calls. I've called cousins of his and friends. They were hopeful at first and said don't worry. One of his friends says he keeps trying to call him but is not getting through. I've asked his cousins to get me more contact numbers and they haven't called me back in a couple of days. I just don't know what to think......except that this has happened before.

We've known each other for over five years. We filed for a fiance visa back in 2003 but very tragically his oldest son was killed in an accident and my SO lost it which is understandable. He was all consumed with caring for his youngest son after that who was only 14 at the time and he cut me out and we broke up. During the last five years we reconciled and we were both ready to get married and make a life together so I filed for the fiance visa again.

Now we were as far as receiving Packet 3 from the embassy. My SO mailed in a form which I later found out was the wrong form, hence we still haven't gotten an interview date. Basically, my last conversation, as brief as it was, was that he sent in the wrong form. He didn't believe me. We made a date to talk later to go over the papers over the phone and make sure he gets the correct one sent off. He didn't answer my call. The next day I got ahold of him but he was busy so he said he would call me after church the next day. The next day he did not call and ever since I haven't gotten through to him.

I just can't believe we are so close and once AGAIN it seems he is losing it. More hurtful is that I just plain don't know what is going on. We didn't argue. No big drama.

May I request a prayer for peace with the issue and things to work out to God's plan. I honestly believed it was part of God's plan that he and I were together again. I haven't completely given up hope but it doesn't look good either.

WOW - that "2nd Request" on the email to the embassy works wonders. I got a response already.

Here is the bad news - my suger pie, honey bunch, light of my life, sent in the wrong form. That is three weeks wasted. I wonder if the embassy would have ever let us know???

I am going to do my best over the phone this evening to help him to fill out the correct form and make an appointment for him to drop it off at the embassy.

At least it is not some disastrious error. Thanks for all the support today! Now I feel a little silly.

May I request a collective prayer? Something is up with the DS-230 part 1 that my SO returned to the embassy. They received it two weeks ago and have not assigned an interview date. I have sent two emails and I've gotten no response. Please prayer that whatever the problem may be that it gets resolved quickly and that the interview gets assigned. This is making me nervous. Thank you ladies!

Did they tell you there was a problem or are u assuming there to be one. It can take up to 1 month to get the DS230 finished if they are not actually working on your case. Once they receive it, it just goes in a pile and then they work on them in order they are recieved. So it could be that it is fine. Did you call and ask if you got an RFE?

I sent another email to the Embassy with "2nd Request" along with the case number in the reference line. I have gotten confirmation emails back so they are getting my emails.

I guess I assumed there is a problem. The lady at NVC said it has to be approved (I wish I could remember her exact words). I will call back on Monday to see if I can get further clarification. It just seems out of the ordinary for a K-1 fiance visa - but maybe my SO missed a line or something.

I forgot to put "second request" in my email. Poop. I could send it again???

I did call the 202# yesterday. The only info they could give me is that they verified the Embassy had received the DS-230 part 1. My SO, despite my suggestions to drop it off at the embassy, chose to send it by registered mail. The person I talked to at NVC said it had to be approved by the embassy. I will call back on Monday to see if I can get additional information. It just seems weird.

I just sat on hold forevvvvver (ok - only 17 minutes) with NVC to see if the Embassy had assigned an interview date and not yet. Argh. It seems something may have been wrong with the DS230 part I that my SO sent in. I will try sending an email to the Embassy again to see if there is something I can do. Lawd! This tests a girl's patience.

Hey ladies, those of you who like a little adventure, here on the east coast NY to DC or DC to NY. There is a bus company called the MEGA BUS, they have tickets as little as $1.00 each way from NY to DC or DC to NY. There are other tickets prices aswell, it depends on what time you are willing to travel. I just purchase a friend of my SO a $2.50 round trip ticket from NY to DC over the 4th of July weekend.

In DC the bus stops at the METRO subway stop, but soon will be at Union Station . In NY it is at PENN statation. This is not the (chinese bus), this is something new. Go to www. MEGABUS.com

That is weird that you mention the Megabus because I saw one last night on my way home from work here in St. Paul and thought there must be some catch - like $1.00 one way - the other way back is $857 or something like that. That would be a really cheap way to get to Chicago, especially with gas prices these days (sometimes I do sound like an old codger).

In reference to work authorization I want to throw this out. Check out this link. Specifically look at section "C":

Apparently K-1 immigrants are authorized to work upon entering the US - with or without the EAD stamp - is the gist I got from this.

So I asked the HR person of my company awhile ago what would happen, hypothetically speaking, if we hired someone who didn't have a SS# yet. There is a procedure for her to set up a temporary tax id number and then the new employee would have a certain amount of time to get the SS# or provide proof that it has been applied for.

What does everyone think? I guess you would have to find an employer willing to accept this understanding of the rules and also be willing to go through the extra paper work of a new employee not yet having a SS#.

Just curious.....mostly confused by it all but curious what you all think.

I received a nice email from the embassy today informing me that my SO's information had been received and that he is now eligible to be scheduled for an interview and as soon as the system assigns his interview date he will be notified as soon as possible. I wonder how long that's going to take.

That's excellent news! Slowly but surely......

Another lesson I am learning in dealing with my SO is that sometimes I just have to let go. He is an adult and he can make his own decisions and I just have to say "whatever". Either go to the clinic and deal with or don't go and deal with it. Being so far away there is only so much you can do. That is my two cents.

I can't remember the name of thread but there was one that had something to do with advice on how to help with the adjustment of your SO to the USA. Lots of lovemaking, patience, be flexible, etc. One of the tips was to live near a Jamaican community. As far as I know I am no where near a Jamaican community here in Minnesota. There are Jamaicans here. I just don't know any. Any VJ'ers from Minnesota? Anyone know anyone here?

My SO says he knows some people that have moved up here so I told him to start getting in contact with them. He also has family scattered all over....but none in Minnesota.

I just wanted to let you know that I made the pilgrimage to the Lush shop at the Mall of America this weekend. I had so much fun trying whatever products I could and chatting with the salespeople. They really seem to like their jobs, and the company and the products.

I tried the bar shampoo this morning and my hair smells great!

Please deliver us safely to the embassy and guide us along the way. Please give us strength so that we'll say focus and get a through the interview. Also, please watch over Wakey...she will also be there. Please protect her and Dwayne and keep them safe and focused for their interview as well. Lord, I know emotions are running high as people are still waiting on interview dates from the Embassy in Jamaica, please guide the workers so that they can get things moving and that husbands can be with their wives and wives with their husbands. Lord, please protect those that are pregnant...please continue to bless them and delivery them safely. Until DJ figures out where she is living or gets someone to spill the beans, we have no clue - Hopefully he can find someone she knows that is crooked enough to accept a payoff to rat her out.

I have been checking in with this link all day and one of my co-workers finally came in my office to ask what was all the laughing about?!?!?!
