I just got back from Denver, and everything went great. I arrived really early -- about 7am, so waited outside until a little after 8am, then went through security and checked in. My appointment was scheduled for 9am, but I didn't get called back until 9:20am. Once I was taken into an office, I did the reading and writing test, then the civics test. The officer only asked six questions as I got them right. Then there was the standard multitude of yes or no questions about character. The officer apologized that I couldn't take the ceremony today, so I'll have to go back to Denver again in the coming weeks, but he did give me a letter that said he'd recommended me for citizenship. I had taken a lot of supporting documents, but the officer said that what I submitted with my application was sufficient (I'd sent payslips, tax returns, etc. with my N400 form) and only asked to see my ID, Green-card and UK Passport. The officer allocated to me was very friendly and chatty and made me feel at ease throughout the process. The interview itself lasted about 40 minutes. Before I'd even left the parking lot, I got a text message to say my application had been updated to reflect my new status.

My interview is tomorrow morning and I'm nervous as heck now! I've arranged for my kids to sleep at a friends tonight and go to school with them tomorrow as I'll have to be up at 4am to start the several hour drive to Denver for my 9am appointment, (I'm aiming to get there about 30 minutes early.) I wasn't nervous until today, and know I've got all the relevant documents I may be asked for, and know the civics requirements, so I don't understand while I feel this way. I'll certainly be glad when all this is behind me! 😌

I've just added myself to the Phoenix lockbox above. I hope I did everything correctly. I received my interview appointment letter yesterday for 08-30-18 in Denver, CO. 

My only concern at the moment was that I lost my old expired UK passport that originally had my original K1 visa in it. It was several years expired when I lost it. I have a current UK passport again now, so will take this to the interview, but will my lost (and long expired) passport cause any issue? I did report the lost passport to the UK government already, (and filed the necessary documents so I could get another valid UK passport from overseas.)

Hi, I've not used the site in several years until today, and am trying to update my timeline. However, I'm having issues.

If I go to edit timeline, (and even don't make any changes) and submit I get this error:

You should try to get the copy of the first letter from https://my.uscis.gov/account/applicant and check the address for where it was sent. It might have been sent to your lawyer if you have any. 

Thanks, I didn't know I could see any documents online, but just checked and sure enough there it was. The address was correct, and my original appointment was 17th January. Gah. I'm annoyed at myself now for just waiting for standard mail contact. I honestly didn't expect things to move so fast.

Yes, lesson learned there! I will check it pretty much daily in future, I'm sure!

Thanks for replying. I did ask the question to the lady I was talking to and she said everything should be fine and to contact them again if I hear nothing within 30 days. I guess I just needed further reassurance from this forum. (I've missed this place!) I've read lots of horror stories online since yesterday about applications being considered abandoned and people having to pay to reapply again. Hopefully, all will progress along fine now. Thanks again.

Hi everyone. I haven't posted on here in many years, but here I am again.

 

I came to the USA back in 2008 on a K1 visa and have had a green card ever since around 2011 when I finished that part of the process and became a full permanent resident.

In late December, I sent off my N-400 package to become a citizen. I received an I-797 a few days later stating that they'd received my package and to set up an online USCIS account, (which I did.)

I didn't expect anything to happen fast, but checked me email often to see if there was any further actions, although I had no further contact. Last night I logged into my online USCIS account and saw the following though:

"On December 30, 2017, we scheduled you for a biometrics appointment and mailed you an appointment notice for Receipt Number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your appointment notice by January 29, 2018, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

Of course, I immediately freaked out. While I did receive a form with the same receipt number, it didn't not have any details of a biometric appointment contained on it. It was just a letter confirming my address, (which hasn't changed since 2008). I never received any letter containing any appointment.

I spent time on the phone today with USCIS and they gave me a reference code (no idea what that is for), and said they have contacted the office to resend an appointment letter to me with a new date for biometrics at my "local" field office, (a 300 mile round trip.)

Is everything now back on track or do I have anything to worry about? I was freaking out last night in case my application was going to be abandoned.

I'm happy to report I've just checked the USCIS tonight site and got this message:

On February 3, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

Good luck to those still waiting. I'm feeling relief more than anything as I was the earliest CSC applicant in October still waiting and was beginning to wonder if the 60-70 pages I'd sent was missing something USCIS wanted to see.

I'm the earliest CSC applicant to be approved in October now out of the few left. I'm getting a little frustrated that my application still states it's waiting a response to an RFE on the 18th November despite my calls to them to tell them the RFE was nonsense -- the letter was requesting my to make a biometrics appointment when I already had one booked for the 29th November, (that I attended.) My account hasn't been touched since the day of my biometrics.

Thank you for your post regarding the letters. I'm going through the exact same state of limbo here and the dates I received those letters on are very similar to yours. I'm kind of concerned now because when I last called USCIS, they asked me to disregard the RFE if I have already gone in for the biometrics and that because my case is inside the given time frame, there is nothing they can do about the notice. The person I spoke to did not however confirm whether USCIS received my biometrics for which I believe I should call them in the morning now. This entire process is just horrible. Online Status of my case still shows the RFE they had sent out on November 18th and my case has not been touched since November. Depressing!

It's definitely worth a call I'd say just to ensure things are moving along and not held up because of the phony RFE. That said, some people who received the second notice did nothing and their removal of conditions was approved just fine. I'm surprised every at the California Service Center haven't been briefed on this problem and that every pending case hasn't been checked over to see if it was affected by this issue. It seems strange if they operate a "Do Nothing" approach until contacted by the petitioner. Good luck!

I didn't see this thread originally, (it was on the third page of the index), so I posted in the October 2010 filers.

I had the same problems outlined here too. I contacted USCIS today who told me my application was in "suspense", (odd phrasing).

My original biometrics letter was dated 11/1 for an appointment on 11/29, (which I attended). I received another NOA dated 11/18 telling me to make an appointment for biometrics, (which I didn't as I already had one). Apparently, even though I had my biometrics on 11/29 my case was still suspended because of this second letter being sent in error to me by USCIS.

Hopefully further to my call today, things will shortly start moving.

As this was posted in the Removal of Conditions section, I assume your wife is already living in the US with you and has adjusted status and is now seeking to remove the conditions on her residency. that being the case, then if her Green Card is now expired, make sure you also take the extension letter, (giving an extra year of residency), you should have received within a week or two of submitting your Removal of Conditions application too.

I logged on to this thread to post my experience a few moments ago before reading the latest posts.... after posting it I see others are having the same issues! (See my reply #267 above I just posted). Make sure you contact USCIS and explain the situation if you are in the same position -- don't assume it will all fall into place once your biometrics are attached to the case, otherwise your case might be suspended.

Hi everyone. This is just a heads up in case anyone else received a second I-797C that may have stalled their case without their knowing.

I'd already received my biometrics appointment letter dated 11/1/10 for an appointment on 11/29/10, which I attended and had my biometrics taken on that date, (I received the stamps, etc. on the NOA letter.)

In between those two dates, dated 11/18/10, I received a second NOA stating that "In processing your case we have reached the point where we need you to make an appointment to go to one of our Application Support Centers to have your biometrics taken." As I'd already received the NOA with an appointment date of 11/29 I disregarded this second request assuming that it was just duplicity and that once the biometrics from my original appointment were in the system.

Fast forward a few months and I'm starting to see approvals on these VJ pages, so I thought I'd check the USCIS website and see where I was at yesterday. I was shocked to read this:

"On November 18, 2010, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Today, I decided to call USCIS to resolve this matter as it would seem that even though I had my biometrics taken on 11/29, the case was in suspense due to my not making a second biometric appointment -- even though I hadn't even had the first appointment at the date the letter was sent!

The lady I spoke to at USCIS kept stating that sometimes the biometrics need to be taken a second time if there was an issue with them. Despite me explaining several times that at the date of the second request I hadn't even had my first biometrics appointment yet she didn't seem to grasp this fact for several minutes! Eventually after explaining the situation again, she realized her error and placed me on hold to escalate my concerns. The second person I spoke to was initially of the same opinion until he grasped the dates involved, but then put me on hold for several minutes while he sorted things out and promised me that my original biometrics were in the system and unless I had an RFE for further information required there should be no reason why my case can't progress as normal now.

So, if anyone else received a second NOA asking for you to make a biometrics appointment, (before you even had gone for your first appointment), you might want to contact USCIS and make sure they haven't placed your case in suspense for no good reason. (Of course, sometimes a second biometrics is necessary if the original results are indecipherable or lost by USCIS. In my case though, I hadn't even had my first appointment before my case was put on hold due to not having a second biometric appointment!)

I had my biometrics appointment this morning at 8am in Denver, Colorado. Other than having to get my family up at 4:45am for a long drive in the snow, it was fine. There was a big queue of people waiting in the cold outside when I arrived about 7:45am, so I just sat in the car until 8am when the doors were opened. I filled out the form quickly so got number 6, and was seen within about two minutes. Everyone was friendly and chatty, (I'm sure it was the same lady who took my biometrics last time when I did my AOS), and I was in and out within ten minutes.

Just FYI, I also received a weird NOA letter asking for me to schedule a biometrics appointment within the past week too, (obviously a long time after receiving a biometrics appointment date NOA.) I ignored this new NOA as it did say lower down the page that certain applications have biometrics appointments scheduled automatically, (or something to that effect - I forget exactly.)

I haven't seen that one yet although plan to as soon as I can. I did see "Crooked House" (The BBC Ghost story for Christmas) and really liked Mark Gatiss in that even though it wasn't a comedy. I think I sold all my LoG DVDs when I moved to the USA, I wish I hadn't now, I might rebuy them again to see what my American wife makes of them!

Back on topic, my biometrics is at 8am in Denver. Colorado at the end of this month. As it's over a two hour drive away from here so I'll have to leave here before 6am, and I don't know anyone who could look after my kids at that time so I'll have to take them with me, (they are two almost three year olds). Does anyone know if that will be problem?

Updated with my biometrics appointment as I received the letter today, (dated 1st November for biometrics on 29th November.)

I've also updated IMSE82 and SASHALEE'S records with their NOA's confirmation and replaced the instructions that STEPH0814 keeps deleting

IMSE82 - The date required is the date on the letter , not the date you received it. This date below will probably need to be revised.
