    Congrats!!!

Mine was at 9am, I must have seen you at some point hahaha.  There was a big group outside because the conuslate didn't let people in.

Great that you didn't run into extra screening like I did.  I still don't know why they issued me the DS 5535 though.  I don't even travel very much and I have a very clean record.

I was coming out around 9am, short, chubby, grey hoodie, blonde hair, lol. My fiance went with me because in the email they said it was allowed but he wasn't actually allowed in. Pretty annoying, they won't even let people in 5 minutes before their appointment. What a coincidence though, I was pretty sure I was the only k1 that day as it didn't seem to be a popular visa compared to others. Pretty cool.

I really hope they clear you soon. Wonder if they do "random security checks".  Hopefully you won't have to go back for a 2nd interview. I know some people are qualified to Skype. Keep me updated, and again, I REALLY hope they clear you soon. 🍀 <--  for good luck.

My visa interview in montreal was on february 26 as well!

I got a follow up email DS 5535 and got put in administrative processing though lol

I hope yours is not the same as my case.

Huh, mine was at 8:30am, wonder if I passed you at all. There were quite a few people waiting to be let in when I left.

    DS 5535?

I haven't had any emails or anything yet. No status change.

  3. So, my k1 has been approved as of Feb 26th 2020, the interview went well. The lady said "looks like everything is in order. Congratulations" and with that I left the consulate. And then worries started hitting me.

Was I supposed to stick around after the interview to sign anything? They scanned my finger prints and did the oath and all that. I haven't heard anything since.

The https://ais.usvisa-info site says my current status is "appointment". And the https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ just says my number is invalid but I've heard a lot of people have that issue.

Do I just wait? She said it'd take about 3 weeks. Anxiety inducing with the unknown.

Does anyone know what the packet 4 letter looks like? Two days after submitting packet 3, I got this email that starts with this:

"This office has completed the review of the below-referenced immigrant visa case. You are now ready for an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal, where all interviews for immigration to the US from Canada are processed. This letter provides information on the next steps you must take to continue with your immigrant visa case."

But the only mention of packet 4 looks like this at the bottom:

"Appointment letter: (Packet 4)" with no link or pdf attached.

Is this confirmation to proceed with scheduling everything?

The email itself is packet 4 as I understand. Where the email tells you your next step is the medical and booking the appointment, yeah?

Print out that email, you'll need it for your medical.

Next step is to create an account using the link provided(U.S Department of State Visa Appointment Service)in the email, they ask you to pay the application, about $250. Then you can pick a date for the interview.

Print out 2 copies the information they give you for you're interview once you book it and proof of payment, it should be emailed to you if you pay online. You'll need a copy for your medical as they want proof that your have an appointment and one copy for your interview as they want to make sure you paid.

I had my interview literally less than an hour ago. I was approved. I'm sitting in my hotel room in Montreal as we speak. The Best Western plus on Drummond St is in walking distance of the medical place and the visa place.

    Good luck!

  5. So, I got an email back.

And they said... "We encourage applicants to pursue their K-1 visa applications as soon as possible, since the validity of the I-129F petition is only 4 months. Although consular officers have the authority to revalidate the I-129F petition for another 4 months, they are not legally required to do so for every case. These decisions are rendered on an individual case basis at the time of the interview."

So... I booked. Less time then I wanted and honestly... one day after the 4 month mark. I'm HOPING that's fine. We paid a day before he 4 month mark too. Man, I'm cutting this way too close.... My high anxiety was making this whole thing a massive challenge. I'm so glad I found this website full of lovely helpful people.

    Now onto booking the medial....

That I'm not sure about. I've never actually encountered anyone who paid the fee without immediately jumping on the first interview slot they could find, including me! Maybe someone else out there knows the answer. Just be aware that paying the fee alone doesn't grant you any special privileges or dibs on the next available interview or anything like that ... you'll just be a person who gave money to the US govt. in advance without securing the service that accompanies it. When dates open up, it's first come, first served. If you forget to check a month from now and people have already booked them, you'll have to wait for the next round.

The slots beyond February are greyed out because they're just not open yet, and probably won't be available until at least this time next month. They usually only open them up as the date approaches, so you'll never be able to (for example) book an interview in June when it's the middle of March.

Ooh, okay. I just want to make sure I have the funds and everything in place with time to spare. I have emailed the Montreal consulate, hoping they can fill in some blanks. You've been incredibly helpful, thank you!

There's no phone # to call, the Montreal consulate works solely through email communication.

I know saving up funds is tough, but the general advice is book an interview when you have the chance and book what's open. The slots fill up quickly, and you may find yourself waiting another two or three months (from that point) for more interview times to open up.

Oh. But as long as that fee is paid, I have don't have to book immediately(as long as its in the one year of said fee is paid)? Currently the only spots that are open are every Wednesday in Feb, beyond Feb is all grayed out. I was hoping to book something for April. Is it okay if I wait to book closer to April?

    Also, thank you for helping!!

  8. So, I went to register the interview appointment online, paid the fee and then realised that I can only book one month in advance, when I need a least two months to save up some more funds for the trip. After paying, can I wait to book the interview closer to the month I want or do I need to call? (I have phone anxiety)

  9. I received packet 4, where I have to make appointment for medical and interview. My issue is, there's only 5 approved physicians listed(on the gov website) for ALL OF CANADA, and the closest one to me is all the way in Surrey BC, while I'm in Alberta. And the interview is all the way in Montreal.... Is there anything closer that I'm missing? Is there anything I can do to make this easier? Or do I just have to travel across the country...?

Also, for the medical, what kind of cost am I looking at?

  10. I received(at my home in Canada) the packet 3 instructions a couple months ago while I was abroad in the States with my fiancee. I only got home recently. Now I'm scrambling to understand and acquire all I need. However, I am struggling to understand much. I'm scared and overwhelmed.

If someone could help me by simple step by step instructions and a list of exact documents/paperwork I need, for things like "Evidence of petitioner’s domicile in the United States" and "Evidence of relationship between petitioner and beneficiary" that'd be great. Luckily at about 5 things don't apply to me on the check list.

I'm just so terrified of not having all I need, screwing this up and getting denied.
