    Hello all,

My wife and I submitted our documents in January and was accepted by the NVC and we are waiting for the interview date. Any ideas on how long it is taking from anyone that turned it in within the last 3-4 months? With the consulate open again I was hoping that they'd be able to start getting interview dates again.

April and may is fully booked. They don’t know when they’re booking interview for June and July.

I’ve been waiting to be scheduled for an interview for IR1/CR1 since September, and still haven’t heard anything. Every time I wrote to the embassy to ask them if they were still scheduling cases from Denmark (and then Norway) because of the entry ban, they wouldn’t give me a straight answer. I spoke to someone from Denmark who originally was scheduled for January, and they kept having to reschedule their interview every time the entry ban was extended. So from what I gather (and what my attorney thinks too) the embassy isn’t scheduling new cases from Denmark and Norway as long as there’s an entry ban in place. I tried to tell them that I was willing to go to another country and quarantine to then go to Sweden, but that didn’t seem to help any. They never actually replied to that email, so I stopped pushing because there wasn’t anything more I could do.

So that’s my story just as an FYI. If anyone has had a different experience then please share, but for now I’m not expecting anything until the entry ban ends.

Thank you so much. Wow, you’ve been waiting since September that is crazy... It says on the embassy website that the backlogs are substantial, but I did not expect it to be this bad.

Btw I see you’re going to end up in the twin cities, me too!! Cool.

My mental health is deteriorating fast because of this waiting. I just turned down a really good job offer, because I can not accept new things atm, since I don’t know how long I’m staying in Norway before I get my visa approved.

It’s a sad situation for all. Is there a Facebook group for Scandinavians waiting for CR1/IR1 interview? Would love to be a part of some supporting community right now.

I'm talking to one of the K1 round two plaintiffs from Denmark on Messenger sometimes, and she told me that most of them got rescheduled from March to April because of this. I think one girl from Norway(?) got to keep her appointment for this month but the girl I'm talking to didn't know why, and if I remember correctly the Norwegian girl have to quarantine outside of Norway for 14 days to get into Sweden for the interview. The Danish girl ironically could have gotten into Sweden, she thinks, due to her parents or something like that. So it's a bit confusing, but I wouldn't count on an interview as long as the ban on Norway is in place, though. Unless the embassy have different rules for CR1/IR1, but even so you might have trouble crossing the border if you try going directly from Norway to Sweden👀

Thank you for some info. Yeah I’m considering going through Finland or something. But the ban is probably going to end before they schedule me for an interview.

Back in September it took two weeks for us from we uploaded the last documents until they DQed us, don’t know how long it’s taking them at the moment, but hopefully it’s not much longer than that 🤞

Oh I know, I cried for days when I had to leave my husband last time almost five months ago 😢 Hang in there! ❤️

    Thank you ❤️❤️

Some first hand experience from the weekend: The previous replies in this thread are correct, you'll mainly need to have your marriage certificate and a copy of your spouse's passport as proof. However, I personally ran into several issues, one of them being that my ESTA got cancelled (not revoked, but set to expired) roughly 12 hours before scheduled departure and as I noticed that just in the morning I didn't have time to get this corrected and ended up moving my flight by a day. Seems like CBP are proactively canceling your ESTA once you appear on a passenger manifest.

What did you do when they canceled your ESTA?

  6. Yes, I know, but I have read on different forums that they had to call the airlines first to confirm that they were spouses etc. because they did not have immigration visa, only VWP/ESTA.  I just wanted to know if there is some extra work I have to do before booking tickets.

  7. Hey! Just wanted to join in here. Send I-130 January 1st, now stuck in the waiting game. The Schengen travel ban does not affect me (immediate relative), was considering going for at trip in July on ESTA, but none of my travel insurances are valid due to the Norwegian "do not travel" advice. Don't wanna get the rona' and end up in the hospital without insurance... This situation is next level waiting game.

I wonder if the I-130 approval speed changes due to the recent changes in the Trump immigration politics?

  8. Hello.

I am preparing for the approval of my I-130, and have a question about the upcoming I-864 form. We have a joint sponsor, so everything is good there. Questions:
    1) If my petitioner was not required to file taxes for the last three years (income under $12,200), what is he supposed to write in post 24a-24c? (Tax year and total income).

Is it better to write the actual income ($10,500) or N/A? The petitioner's current annual income is zero.

    2) Does he have to attach a written statement, as stated in the instructions for the form? "If you were not required to file a Federal income tax return under U.S. tax law for any other reason, attach a typed or printed explanation including evidence of the exemption and how you qualified for it. "

    3) He is self-employed as an artist, and current income is zero because of the coronatimes. Will he have to attatch some evidence for this?

    Thank you!

  9. Hello.

My spouse (USC) has not filed taxes the last 3 years, even though he should. We are now starting the CR-1 visa process and he needs to get his s*** together..

He has been self employed and makes above the minimum requirement for sponsoring a spouse for immigration.

1: Does he have to file the last 3 years or is the last year enough?
2: We just got married. Should he file the last years as single or married?

3: What is the best way of filing taxes that should have been filed a while ago? I know nothing of the US tax system, I just wanted to get some more knowledge.

    Thank you.
