My husband had his interview this morning. He was approved. The one thing that they asked about was his new passport. They said it wasn’t uploaded but I had uploaded it into CEAC so not sure where I was supposed to upload. He had a color copy though that they took and was a non issue. Said the CO was great and asked him if it was him that put the binder together because it was so well organized. He said nope, my wife. Lol

He was done in 1 hour 15 min. The longest part was waiting to go up to the window for actual interview that only lasted a few minutes. Told him his Visa will arrive within 5-7 days and will be able to track online.

Congratulations!!!  Hoping they clear the backlog quickly and work to reunite families ASAP.

Anyone have experience crossing to the US since the COVID closings?  I would really like to see my wife and step-son and stay through Halloween.  He's so so jacked about Halloween this year and has tons of plans for showing me all his "spooky" decorations.  I guess it's totally up to the officer at the border.  Of course I'm bringing the usual kit of Canadian apartment lease, utility bills, marriage certificate, etc.  I've heard lots of stories of people with spouses in the US getting turned away, and I've similarly heard stories about people being able to cross to see their family and in one case to see their *girlfriend*.  I know land and air crossings have different restrictions but I'm going to go to a land crossing (Peace Arch) first since it's 25-30 minutes from my place and then 15 minutes from my wife's once in the US (plus, you know, $$$).

I flew to the US in June from Calgary and didn't have any issues with the border officer.  I had tried the land crossing but was turned away because of the border restriction.  My step daughter flew into Canada a week ago but she has status in both countries so didn't have any issues getting back into Canada.

Depending what the flights are like I am wanting to go down in November or December.  Just have to wait and see

  3. Have you explored HR Certifications in the US?  To my knowledge there are two options either hrci.org or shrm.org both with different certifications depending on you experience.  IF you don't have a lot of background and experience in the HR field one may benefit you more than the other.  If you have minimal HR experience or education in HR the aPHR certification from HRCI could be a good place to start, minimum education is a high school diploma with no HR work experience I believe.
