It is not required but highly recommended because it’s free when filing together with the I-485 and I know you don’t have any plans to travel but what if there an emergency such as an illness of a close family member. Emergencies do happen without any planning and it’s always nice to have that option. I can’t tell you how many times we hear the story: “geez I just came on K-1 and now my grandfather/grandmother/aunt/sister/brother/insert name here just got sick and I gotta get back” “Ok, but when you leave without AP, you have to start everything over either with a brand new K1 or get married and file CR1”. Neither is fun, will cost more money and many more months/years of separation.
