  1. My Grandmother filed for her son and his family. She started the process of immigrating us to America from Jamaica. She started  filing for her sons and daughters in 2008, however, she became a ward of the state in 2016 and we didn’t get the papers until 2018. We were unaware that if she couldn’t sign there was no hope so we went through, paid all the fees but when it came to submission of the Financial Documents, we started questioning which lead me here, trying to find out if there is anything we can do.

If the petitioner cannot legally sign it then there is nothing you can do. She needs to be a sound mind to be able to enter into a legal contract.

What exactly have you been in the process of?

We went through the entire process while she was deteriorating.

Can’t a lawyer sign on behalf of her?

  3. Hello. The filing started 4 years ago and between that time and now, the petitioner has been admitted as ward of the state of Florida. We are currently at the submission of Financial Documents and the I-864 Form which she can’t sign. What do we do? Where do we go from here. We have two other joint sponsor but they want the petitioner’s signature and Transcript which she doesn’t have and incompetent to give.

    Advise is appreciated
