They are not your adopted children but step children who got CR2 visa to come to live with the step dad, you.
That is exactly what I thought. Thank you

Here is my question…. Are these children now my adopted stepchildren now officially? I am the Petitioner and they are the beneficiaries. Looking this up on google says the CR2 visa is for adopted children in immigration. My wife and her two children received their Visas a few weeks ago. I had to file three petitions. Hers says CR1 and both of theirs, ages 7 and 11 say CR2. My work pays all fees for adoption of children including outside of the US. My boss just brought this to my attention. If they are I could get this money back and put it into their future savings. I could call a lawyer and ask but I did all this paperwork for all three on my own and feel lawyers try to just take our money and that would defeat the purpose.

While I agree that your wife should not wait too long before traveling on her CR1 visa, I still recommend that she try for an import permit before her travel. The application form has a field for US visa number, indicating that visa holders could apply. For the supporting document on item #39, I suggest submitting a letter explaining that she and her dog are traveling for the purpose of immigrating to the US. Include a photo of her CR1 visa with the letter.
Part of me thought the same but then she has to wait until after December 1st to apply then wait six weeks for an answer. Which puts us into end of January for a possible answer. This is the timeline they said without any issues. Longer if so. I guess I’ll just leave it up to her. I just think that is a long time to wait before moving here for something unknown. The site even says on a very rare occasion they approve. To add to this she is selling her home there and will have to rent while waiting. Has two kids she is bringing and their father could stop the agreement. I worry there is so much at risk. For instance he stopped the agreement once and we are waiting for his new one that she needs prior to medical and interview. In just one week. I’m just worried about waiting over 4.5 months for something that is so unsure vs traveling back to get the dog later and starting our life sooner before anything stops us.

Your wife will be a lawful permanent resident as soon as CBP stamps her CR1 visa on her entry to the US.
Ok I added more info to my above response. Now I am sure if this is the case neither her or I can apply. Best I think is her to apply after she is here. Not risk our CR1. If they say no then when the Ban expires I will just fly over and bring the dog back myself.

I agree. It's more clear-cut on the CDC page that US citizens may request for an import permit.
Attach one of the following:
a. DOT service animal form; OR
b. Official government travel orders; OR
c. Employment or university acceptance letter; OR
d. Proof of travel with pet out of US before July 14,2021 (USDA health certificate and airline documentation)
one of these is required of either her or myself to get approved. I don’t have any of these reasons to re locate. Neither does she. This is straight from the online form. My question is will she be a lawful resident after her visa interview? Or after she enters the US? That was the first question they ask for a lawful resident or US Citizen. Because waiting for this process puts her very close to waiting for an answer and her cr1 hitting 6 months then expiring. It feels crazy for her to sit there and wait if we won’t be approved. Then one hiccup and she doesn’t enter within 6 months just to find out neither her or I qualify at the moment due to the new ban. Medical is next week. So it expires March. The process for the dog if everything goes smooth is the Titers will be ready. December 1st. Then she has to receive. Print. Gather all evidence. Fill out online form with all attachments. So maybe by December 8th. Then a six week wait puts us at January 19th. This is if all goes as planned and nothing else happens. Requested. COVID-19 etc. she could move here so soon vs wait for this application that as I read I am unsure she qualifies to fill it out. I already called the CDC and they said I do not. The person I spoke with just didn’t know if she is a legal resident after the interview then also she doesn’t have one of the above documents

I have called NVC with no help. When exactly after the interview does my wife Get the USCIS and US Visa # And Lawful Resident? Does she get all three after the interview but before entering the US, or does it all activate after entering the US?

I brought the dog from Ukraine. You need international pet passport which is easy to get in Ukraine at any international airport with full vaccination record. They have not even checked the paperwork at the customs..
Unfortunately this isn’t the case now. After July this year USA banned all dogs from Ukraine. The permit to application process now takes over four and a half months and I don’t believe she qualifies. I called the CDC and NVC to verify. Says she needs to be a US citizen which she isn’t or a lawful resident with a USCIS number or Visa number to prove this. As far as I know she does receive these numbers until after she moves here. Secondly after providing she is one of these two the only exceptions to bringing a dog here even if you are a US citizen or lawful permanent resident is for relocating for work, school, military orders, or a service dog. And this information has to be mailed in with the application. The titers we just submitted in Ukraine will not be available until after November 31st. Then the application that is seems she doesn’t qualify for takes another six weeks. So now 4.5 months and her visa is only good for 6 months. With Covid-19 who knows what else. I don’t think it’s worth waiting until January or February of 2022 when her visa interview is in a few weeks. Especially if she doesn’t qualify for any of this.

Problem is neither her or I are able to get the new required documents. The only exceptions and it must be documented is relocating for a job. Relocating for work documented. I could have before this new ban

That was before the import dog ban. Now there is more needed.

Four months?
The lab test requires the dog to have been vaccinated for at least 30 days. Not sure what requires 4 months ?
EDIT:. Just reread the lab test bit and see that it has to be done at least 90 days before import. Yep, 4 months if her dog was just vaccinated.
Yeah today she did the titer with microchip. And they informed her today about the 90 day wait then it takes up to 6 weeks for the application. Before today i was hoping to apply for the vaccination next week as the dog was already vaccinated for rabies previously.

It seems you/your wife can apply for a CDC dog import permit. Her dog will need to be vaccinated against rabies.
Although she will not be a LPR until after she arrives in the US with her visa, she could qualify for the permit under "US Citizen or permanent resident relocating to the US":
She will also need a lab test done for her dog after vaccination from one of 3 authorized labs for Ukraine:
https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/approved-labs.html
She did the microchip and started the process today. It will take over four months to complete when her visa interview is this month coming. I hate to wait and stay apart with covid bans and such. To find out no. Vs later I’m sure we can get the dog when the ban expires

I googled "importing a dog into the US" and the first link was to the CDC page here.
Other results from the search are below.
You should be able to get a complete picture or close to one are reading the pages

https://usacustomsclearance.com/process/how-to-import-a-dog/
Thanks I read all of it and for applying it says for us citizens and lawful residents but no where does it say a immigrant. Her visa interview is this month and the process for applying is over 4 months long. To wait to be turned down is not something I’m interested in. I rather her move here then we get the dog when the ban expires. And with Covid-19 and everything we went through this past year. There was a point we couldn’t see each other. So I’m just trying to find an exact answer I guess. I even called the CDC and they couldn’t answer. Just said to apply.

Has anyone gotten any information if my wife can get approved by the cdc to bring her dog from a banned country? Ukraine. There is a list of exceptions and no where can I get an answer.

Hi Paul,
It looks like your thread kinda got hijacked and I didn't find any updates on your situation so....
Hopefully you've had your interview scheduled by now.
We got our interview date set by the Consulate last year a month (or so?) after receiving notice that our petition had been sent to Kyiv. Thinking back (which makes my brain cramp) we got the notice in Jan and the interview date notice in Mar or April. So to answer your question it shouldn't take more than a couple months, but it might.
Unfortunately we were stuck in S. Africa visiting our daughter and couldn't fly out so had to cancel our mid July 2020 date. Later in July 2020 we finally escaped, but due to restrictions we had to part ways in A-dam. Then I was told by Kyiv that I had to reschedule and for months could not get into the scheduling page. I finally got in and was able to reschedule it for Apr 29th this year. All done now, she's in Maine with me and we celebrated her GC arrival Sunday with her first lobster dinner.
I am happy your finally all together

I was going to ask about this topic also as my wife is scheduled for interview in September and is planning on bringing her dog. Can anyone add any information?
-
I need some help. We registered just today on ustraveldocs and it doesn’t show we have an interview even though the NVC sent us the date. I am very confused on this website. Maybe someone can steer me in the right direction or maybe can call me and help. I just want to finish this and not make any mistakes now. I have three petitions all approved and scheduled for July 20th per the NVC for her and two children. I don’t know how to add them to her ustraveldocs and she only has one email. And also I can’t find a place to see anything about scheduling as I want to re schedule for the beginning of September. I called Kiev and that guy didn’t know any answers to my questions. He kept putting me on hold to ask someone else and coming back with contradicting answers that made no sense.

Our interview is scheduled. I did everything myself up until here. There is no instructions how to sign up on the site. Can someone help me?

You can reschedule. For Kyiv it's very easy. We did it last year, but to have it earlier rather than later.
Have the USC petitioner email KyivIV@state.gov. Include the Case ID number (KEVxxxxxx), the Invoice ID number and the applicant full name. Also state the original scheduled date and request it to be changed to the new date (1 month later, I assume).
The first response is an automated email with general information about the embassy. Then about a day or two later you will get a direct message (still from the KyivIV@state.gov email address) with specific information for your request.
For us, the second email stated:
I had my wife log into the www.ustraveldocs.com/ua website (she already registered an account there) and she saw the 2 dates were available for scheduling and picked one.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the details. I am the Sponsor and maybe if I email them now I can definitely get into for August which is ideal for us. I just don’t want to get screwed and nothing be available for us.

Has anyone gotten an interview and tried to extend it one month? How do I do this? Or will they put me back in the queue and it will again be an unknown wait?

My wife has been document-ally qualified since April 29th. The NVC hasn’t scheduled an interview at the Embassy yet. How long are people waiting for Kiev? Also I keep reading about other people scheduling their own interview? How is this? I called the NVC and they said that is impossible.

"As sponsor" can seem misleading. "As Petitioner" no additional evidence of citizenship or LPR status is needed. Only for every other "sponsor" that is not the petitioner.
Thanks, this makes sense!

Surely you mean the I-864 and not the DS-260.
That aside, I just checked CEAC and noticed that I didn't upload any additional proof of U.S. Citizenship with the Affidavit of Support. Despite that, everything was accepted and marked as Documentarily Qualified. I did submit both my passport and birth certificate as evidence with the initial I-130 petition.
"Proof of U.S. Citizenship" is one of the document categories in the dropdown menu when you add a document to the AOS section in CEAC, so if you want to be on the safe side, upload it.
Yes you are right. I wrote the wrong form. And yes I uploaded it all with the I-130. I now see this dropdown menu. Thanks.
