  1. This tourist visa process is ridiculous! My wife immigrated from Thailand (with help from this forum-thanks) in 2008 and has been a citizen since 2012. We followed the process flawlessly. There are no black marks on our record. She wants to bring her Sister for an 8 day visit in April. We filled out the DS-160 and her Sister met all of the stated requirements. She has no black marks on her record either. She has a good job, money in the bank, and a secure residence. The woman who interviewed her in Bangkok was rude and dismissive. She asked 4 questions and quickly denied her visa. Her Sister had supporting documents from her boss that the interviewer wouldn't even look at. When she asked why she was denied the interviewer said that she was not allowed to tell her. #######?!?! I have been in email and phone contact with the embassy and getting nowhere. Only told that we are welcome to apply again, and pay another $160.! This is just not right. If there was a problem we need to know what it was so we can fix it. How are we to proceed. It really looks like they are simply generating revenue with these applications. In reading through what I could find here we are not alone. If anyone has any pertinent information to offer please share.

    Thanks, Jim

  2. Thanks for the replies. S.D. I very nearly immigrated to New Zealand 10 years ago, I'm a big fan!

I'm sure she could complete the trip using only her U.S. passport. and as she'd get 30 days stay on arrival it wouldn't be an issue. No need for as visa. I'm going to advise that she has both in hand at each encounter. Should cover it. Thanks again and good luck in Aus S.D.

  3. Hi all,

My wife attained citizenship in August and now has her U.S. passport, along with her Thai passport. She is traveling home this week and wondering how this will work. I told her to use her U.S. passport in Seattle upon departure, and her Thai passport upon arrival in Bangkok. The reverse coming home. She has the departure card in her Thai passport which was inserted upon her last departure from Thailand. Any first hand experience here with advice? Thanks!

  4. I'm putting together the AOS for my wife and had, by what I've read on some threads here, the usual experience finding a Civil Surgeon willing to transcribe the vaccination information onto the I-693 without doing a full physical. I live in Bellingham and started calling from the list on the USCIS site, working my way South. I must have called a dozen doctors, all wanted 200-300 dollars and would only redo the entire exam. I finally found Dr. Kenneth Hong (on the list) in Seattle. He was very helpful, filled out the forms an put in the required envelope, and charged us $60.00. Still steep for what he did but far better that $200.00. Just thought I'd pass it on on case anyone else from this area was in need.

  5. Hey Tingtong, I like your new avatar! Someone in the past jokingly said that it would be easier to buy your fiance a ticket to Mexico and have her walk/wade/swim across the border than go through this process!

My honey spends a lot of time on that that forum, I wonder if they know each other?

  6. Good luck George and Joom! Have you visited the K1 subforum? Threads for the month you file so you can relate with people on the same timeline.

I don't have the address for the Embassy in Bkk Huge, it was posted a few pages back if I remember correctly? You can find it at their website or email them if you have questions. They have been pretty good with replies for me. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov

Congrats on the green card Sam!

  7. Thanks much for the update TTF! Could you possibly pm me the docs name, or just post it here if you know it. I think we can request a particular doc when making an appt. and I'd sure like to avoid that guy! We still haven't received our p4 or interview date. I've emailed several times but haven't got word yet? Hope all goes smooth for you from here.

  8. I've seen mention somewhere in the past of certain immunizations that are necessary for the AOS or maybe the final step to citizenship, and that it's much cheaper to have them done in Thailand as opposed to waiting to do it here. Does anyone know specifically what those requirements are? I'd like to have them done and was planning to rely on the hospitals advice, but in lieu of Sqdnguns experience I don't think so.

  9. Alright Thai Style!!!! I can't wait till I breathe that sigh of relief! Good luck with everything.

Damn that's an unnecessary pan in the but Sqdnguns! Good on ya for sorting it out and not just paying the buggers! I'll be paying attention to what happens next so please keep us updated. Chok dii!

  10. Thanks Jamie, John and bigsky!

I am going to have her stay @ Ruamchitt Travelodge, close enough to the hospital and far enough from Nana.

Glad to help! Hope she likes it. I've spent lots of time there in the past three years. The new Chuvit Park on the corner is really nice. A big hello to Joom and Aek at the front desk from me(Jim).

  11. Good luck with your interview Thaistyle! And congrats TMC on you sucess!!

Sqdngns, I always stay at a small hotel on Soi 10, Ruamchitt Travelodge. It's quiet and very basic but works for me. There is a really nice new park on the corner of soi 10 and it's really improved the neighborhood! There is another new place on soi ten, Cozy at Ten, it's small and overlooking the park. I haven;t stayed there but looked at the rooms and hey were really nice and new! Asok or Nana BTS stations are very near or she can just walk to Bumrungrat from there. I have never booked at Ruamchitt online or by CC but I think it's possible.

Asia Hotel is often reccomended though I haven't stayed there and they literally have a ramp that exits to the Ratchatewi BTS station. Walking distance to MBK. You can find Asia Hotel at any of the Thai booking sites.asiarooms.com, Sawasdee

    Chok Dii!

  12. Congrats on the interview date Bob! At least you have a date and know where it ends. I wonder why it's taking so long for the interviews? By normal timelines from the past I was expecting our interview to be this month. Looks now like it'll be mid to end of May. We sent our 129 in 9 days before you did and now we're about a month behind you. The difference between VSC and CSC . There are Sept. filers that still haven't seen their NOA2 yet! When my honey gets frustrated I try to point out that some folks aren't doing as well as we are and that our luck isn't all bad.

    Chok dii!

  13. Wilaiwan says that she didn't get any instructions pertaining to her medical with the packet three she received. The old checklist that I downloaded referred to following the included documents to obtain your medical exam. Is there something missing that we need, or can she just make an appt. at Bumrungrat and proceed?

She sent it in yesterday so we've joined the que!

Have her just schedule the appt, my fiancee is going to her medical on 3/13 Bumdundgrad (sp?)

Thanks all. So the hospital will have the necessary forms???

She's working in Nakhon sri Thanmmarat till the end of the month so she won't be going till then. Otherwise they could all have a party!

Is anyone going over for the interview? I was there in Oct. and since I'm out of work I probably won't make it. Hopefully she can get through it on her own.

They spell it Bumrungrand, but as usual pronounce it differently, Bum roong rot

    Chok dii!!
