  1. Did you have to post your original documents to them to get the application processed? Or did they do things automatically?
  2. That makes sense. I’ll look into community colleges too.
  3. Thanks for the response and advice! I’ll contact the schools I’m looking at and get a license and state ID ASAP. Yea I know. I think for FAFSA I’ll have to wait till next year.
  4. Hi Everyone, So I’m planning on moving to the DC/Maryland/Virginia area by Dec 2020. I would like to enroll for college level courses once I’m there in Spring 2021. I wanted to know if anyone here knows which of the two states and DC grants the easiest possible option for getting instate tuition the earliest. Thanks! P.S. wasn’t sure where to post this so posted it here.
  5. So, I spoke to USCIS and they’ve generated a service request to check what’s up with my SSN delivery. Called the local SSA as well and they said to wait for 6 weeks after green card delivery before inquiring with them. Now my question is, is there any way to check status updates or find out if anything has changed regarding my SSN delivery? Or do I just wait for it to arrive at the address? Someone somewhere mentioned SAVE case check. Can that tell if my SSA has received my info for SSN creation and mailing?
  6. POE: 3rd July (IAD) Card Produced: 19th July Mailed: 5th August Received: 8th August
  7. Yes I did. It was the local SSA office which told me to get an in-person appointment if the info doesn’t arrive to them after 10 days.
  8. Got it, thanks. Will definitely look into this. Yea I’ve heard this. Which is why I was surprised the lady telling me to get an appointment. In-person appointment isn’t possible for me anytime soon anyway. Yup, that does suck. And information available is also confusing because even they themselves are confused at times.
  9. How so? Meaning if we file MFS for 2019 and then amend later to MFJ, that will make my spouse eligible for the stimulus based on 2019 return and when I file for 2020, I’ll be eligible then. Is that what you’re getting at?
  10. Got it, thanks! That makes sense. Hmm, the only problem is I’m not in the USA. Will see what I can do.
  11. You mean even if we file with my ITIN for 2019 but file with a SSN for 2020, both me and my spouse will be eligible to receive the advance rebate? Or both 2019 and 2020 need to have my SSN? So that means nothing much can be done unless I get an in-person appointment, right?
  12. I don't see it say anywhere that it makes me ineligible. So I am not entirely sure. Regardless, is there anything I can do to expedite the delivery of the SSN while being in my home country?
  13. Since I already have a green card, when I file my 2019 tax, my status will be that of a resident alien. For which I need my SSN to arrive before the October 15th deadline to file with it. Given these circumstances, is there anything I can do to make sure the SSN arrives ASAP?
  14. Hmm, I understand that if I am a nonresident alien, I do not qualify. However, I don't get the 2019 bit, there is no year specified on the IRS page. Or maybe I am just missing it.
