  1. Hello Good Morning,

Get a free consult with an immigration attorney.  You may still get your permanent GC based on abandonment.  You are still currently married, yet it was drugs that led him astray from you and going into rehab.  It is not like you got married, came here and automatically lived somewhere else.  Again consult a lawyer.  I had a fried who married only for a GC so of course the marriage did not work out.  He was actually with me in relationship for five years and living with me shortly after getting married.  When they wanted to deport him several years later, he got a law school student to represent him(cheaper in price) and he was granted permission to stay unfortunately he had no status in other words he could never travel outside the US.  But he is here living happily.  You case is unique, people get divorced and can still file for themselves.  You need to have some sort of supporting documentation that he was in rehab, and just chain of events during your first two years.  Again consult an immigration attorney.  Most of them offer a free consultation.  Best of Luck!!

Hi,my fiance went in for interview in Jamaica feb 21st and got form 221g to return court documents,he sent them in feb 24th,we have been in administrative processing since,it then changed to Ready march 7th and the case status date changed 3 times since:march 7th,10th,13th,17th.did anybody else go thru this?,if yes how long did u wait.

Hello, going through the Jamaican embassy this can be the norm.  Those dates when it changes usually means the case is being touched in some way.  In which way you will never know.  You can send an email requesting an status update.  Wait till I believe the automated reply will say 7 business day for a response. See how that works up with you.  They have a very large workload and for many reasons the case can move a little slow.  I went through this, but out reason was waiting on the medical in which was there by the time we had our interview.  After being a little pushy found out that our medical was misplaced and the case was just sitting, smh.  But again send an email and hope they respond in a timely fashion

My husband interviewed on march 7. in kingston jamaica. Visa issued march 16 still no tracking number for Dhl. anyone know timeframe for pickup

Call back to the Embassy, they should have the tracking number.  If not they can at least tell you when it was shipped.  With that date you can just go over to DHL let them know the date it was sent to them, and if you got a good person they will search it right then and there.  Security will ask if he has a tracking number, tell him just to explain what happened.  They try not to let you in if you don't have that number.  My husband visa was shipped and two days later we were instructed just to go over to DHL explain our situation and plans to leave the country as I was there.  They nice lady researched it for him, found his visa package and away we went.  it was later that day we received the email that his visa package was there and then another email to confirm that it was picked up smh.  Guess they just covering their tracks.

Thanks everyone for all the amazing advice ....she did everything that everyone advised ...and they revoked the visa and will be banning him so he will never be able to step foot over here...she also took it a step further and reported him to his job which he is a cop and they are looking to take actions as well.. so sad because they was together for 2 years and have a child together for him to do her in such way...but shes grateful for all of you and thanks you all for directing her in all the right places...may God bless you all

CONGRATS!!!! I am so glad she was able to get all this done.  Again, I am glad she found this out before he was able to fly.  She will need to time to heal as a child is involved.  it is not easy, but in due time things will be okay.  Continue to be that friend and support her in her decision as Im sure you are doing.  She is great for following through!  I Commend her on a job well done.

ok - so they must have changed the process - the one thing about SSN Admin is you can only go see them every 2 weeks... if you go earlier they won't even bother.... so today may work....make sure you take copies of all paperwork in case they offer you an application form to do it for yourself....

    Thank You!

If spousal visa, you should get it with in 4 weeks from the date of submitting your application at the local SSA office.

Hi the new process is that immigration submits the information for you, but in 2 to 3 weeks you must go into the office.  So whereas immigration submitted it, maybe it is still approx. 4 weeks.

    Thank You,

Back in 2008, I applied, waited 2 weeks, went back, applied again, nothing, waited 2 weeks, went back, in 2 days I received an envelope that had 2 cards, same number and an application form.....in the same envelope .... I had a GC but no SSN so I could not work for the first 2 mos and a half....

    Hello,

Thank you for your response.  Now immigration applies for your SSN# from the packet you give them at POE.  They say give it two-three weeks.  Its been 3 weeks for us now we are going to the office today.

  8. How long does it take to receive a social security card if you come over on a spousal visa.  Its been 3 weeks since my husbands arrival.  Was told that immigration now applies for the SSN#.  We were told if nothing received after 3 weeks come into the office. What have other people experienced as for waiting times

Hey everyone, yes we got through. We flew in yesterday and my husband had to go to immigration by himself and that took only 20 minutes because there was only 1 person in front him. The gave him a paper informing him to get a ssn but also that we have to pay another $220 immigrant visa processing fee or they will not issue his green card until it is paid. They say on the paper to pay it beforw coming but no one told us that.

Yeah congratulations.  It only tells about the GC fee on the paper that was attached to his packet.  They recently went up on the fee.  But all in all you are now together!  Yeah!!!!!!:jest:

Hi babygurl! Well the review for FLL as POE is pretty much constant. Before I flew in here, I already read the same reviews about FLL, people wait for 2 hrs or so just to get their docs verified and validated. So I already know what to expect. And that's with or without the  presence of the petitioner.. :)

    wow ok best of luck

Hi Cris1! I was trying to get a hold of you but dont know how. Haha. I just posted a review for Fort Lauderdale as my POE. You can check it out. ???

It was pretty smooth to be honest but if you are on a connecting flight from FLL (which I am assuming you are since you are going to Ohio), please make sure that you have enough time in between arrival and departure since waiting sucks. All passengers must go to a room for passport and document verification which took 2hrs of waiting for me.

    Safe travels! ?

wow 2hrs, my husband papers were processed right at the desk and walked through with me.  Probably because I was there.  Out POE was New york

  12. Hello,

email the embassy and give it 5 working days.  If you do not get a response then call and tell the operator that the medical was done on 1/26 and Andrews confirmed it was sent over on 2/16 and that you are not getting a response via email.  Let them know you just want an update as to if it was received.  Another questions has your case status date changed anytime after 2/16. If so that might have been when the physical was received.  When that date changes it is a good thing because it means your case is being touched.Approvals are being delayed due to missing medicals.  At the same time medicals have been in the office they just dont acknowledge them being there at times.  When I called they try to tell me it was not there and call Andrews to confirm the date it was sent over.  Again for the 3rd time the same date was confirmed.  Called back to the embassy let the lady know and she contacted the supervisor regarding this.  10 minutes later got and email medical received sent for review.  So three weeks after medical sent 1/3, interview on 1/5 medical not received, called on 1/23 and asked how medical not received 3 weeks after it was sent just right up the street.  My husband was called and even told that he should have been issued his visa long time. Even after we got to the states I again received a returned email from January that my email was never read! Smh.  Stay on top of things, dont sit and wait for ever.

Should I make a interview date so I can get the medical done for my fiancé to make sure that's its ready and waiting  for our real interview date so we can fly out maybe a week after his interview with visa would like to attend k1 visa interview  very tight schedule school and work only a one week break TIA

    Hello,

Just keep in mind it takes approx. two weeks for the medical to be completed and sent to the Embassy in Jamaica.  The medical not being received has been a major major issue lately.  Definitely do not book a tick until you know the visa has been issued.  Although they can tell you approved there still tends to be a hold up at times.

Thank you. We have been calling and they told us it should be there next week and to call back Monday. Now I'm hoping the Embassy doesn't take long when it's sent over

Well for me medical sent over on January 3rd and when called on the 23rd they tried to tell me it was not there.  I had to tell them they were wrong it had to be there. After two phone calls 10 minutes later email received medical received sent for review.  It seems like many medicals may get misplaced or just left sitting somewhere.  Now we were told once it gets to the embassy it will pass through many hands.  Again just keep an eye out.  If your case status update changes after interview date, send email to see if received.  They are easy to say medical is not received and it is sitting right there in their office.  Again just keep up on the time that is passing.

Thank you! Im hoping that its there this week

You can also call back to Andrews Memorial and asked if the medical has been sent over.  It is very easy to find this out.  They let you know right away. And yes it is about 2 weeks

Hi guy, I'm a newbie am a k1 beneficiary i did my medical on 01/19 and interview on 01/24 this is the 4th "AP" update and am beginning to get worried, after the interview the CO said I was approved. Is it normal to go through "ap" 4 times? I called Andrews and was informed that my result was sent up to the embassy on Feb1. Does everything seem normal? I look forward for your response.

    Hello,

With the Jamaican Embassy which is where I went through, updated AP case status is a good thing.  That happens every time someone works on your file.  If that date does not change then worry because it means that your file is just sitting.

Omg I would be pissed. This time when you go you have to tell them that you can not afford to take all this time off and that you was down there before. Cause that's bs!! I would be livid!!!!

You want to know whats even worse so a couple of days before I was to leave the status went from AP to Issued!  Okay so I called and asked do I still need to come in for the interview and the lady told me yes.  I get in at 4am and go straight to the embassy for the 7am appt.  Get there no name on the list so sat and waited with another couple that was there for the same thing for 30 minutes.  Finally a lady comes out and tells me I did not have to be there because the visa was issued! and it was sent over to DHL the day before! SMH!!!!! You know by now I am really trying to not cause a scene.  She told us to just go over to DHL and asked them nicely to look for it.  After almost not getting into DHL due to no tracking number, my husband came out with his VISA in hand.  They are a mess over there.  I am so glad I am done with there process.  SMH.  No home with husband and so happy!!
