they are not always gonna tell you approved on the spot. i had to wait almost 2 weeks before my case status changed online to approved. the officer was nice too, all she said is that i will keep these to review, you will hear something within few weeks. You could hear within a day, few days to a week, some may even be a month! so just be patient, good luck!!

Its rare for an IO to state you are approved on the spot nowadays. Most approvals have to be signed off by a supervisor.
It can take up to 120 days but most take less than 1 to receive the approval notification.
Yes they can take your appt letter. That's normal too.
