  1. My biggest concern is that it would be a transaction number--like the a year long running number of how many IV bills they've sent out...that would be nearly impossible for us to predict. Or a random number.

Funny, I thought that's what the case number was... :)

My plan is not to give the number, or give all 0's for it, unless we know for sure what it is, and see if NVC really needs it to process the payment.

    My extended number is: 019675358

So here is the list so far:

    Geist 019582681

    Lady Jane 019675358

My guess is that these are sequential. Rina can you IM me your extended numbers and we can compare?

I have an idea. If someone's case has *just* had the IV bill generated/received, then can call the NVC and say that they forgot to add the IV bill sheet but they have their NVC case number (without the extra digits) written on the money order. And they were wondering if those numbers were necessary for them to process the bill. I would call...but my DS230 has just been generated, so they know my IV bill was OK. ;)

  2. Hey, I just got the second IV Fee Bill I requested. Shall I scan it in and post it in case anyone's interested in seeing it?

Actually, since it is a replacement, I'd like to see it, just to see if it looks the same as the original. We don't get to see replacement IV bills every day.... If there is an opportunity to create a safer IV bill shortcut from this information, I think we should pursue it.

Indeed, I am also curious to know if the serial # might happen to be more like NVC's bank account number and the same for everyone... What is the serial number next to the case number below the very bottom barcode?

I have an extra IV bill sheet also because the day after I called to request another IV bill, I received the original bill. Both bills look alike. The number at the bottom was the same for mine. I'll try and remember to bring it in and post the number tomorrow. If it is the same number....for everyone...that would be super.

I was trying to figure out how/if the extra number was generated from the case number. So far, the only thing I've noticed is that the first 3 numbers in that "extra" part are the same as the last 3 numbers of my case number. Can anyone else confirm this?

  3. Hi..

We paid the AOS fee bill and sent the DS-3032 last month.. the automated recording says our IV bill was generated on 3rd of September and it will be sent to the agent in the next few weeks..

My hubby in the States has still not received anything :-(

It's been 22 days now.. is anyone at this stage and expereincing the same delay?

And although we have paid the AOS fee bill, we are yet to receive form I-864 (Affidavit of support). Does anyone know if we can expect this form to be mailed with the IV bill?

    Thanks :-)

You don't need to wait for the AOS instruction packet to send out your I-864. I sent it via USPS, priority mail with delivery confirmation. Since it is on a separate "track", don't expect them to come together.

One word of note, use USPS to send your IV bill, with delivery confirmation, as they do deliver to PO Boxes.

  4. Yes, you are wrong! The NOA2 is only a form stating that your petition has been approved and is being forwarded to the repsective Embassy for the country of your fiance. It does not contain any control numbers or receipt numbers... these must be issued by the Embassy.

    Neil

    Hi..

NOA1 = Notice of Action 1.... This is when you get USCIS case Number

NOA2 = Notice of Action 2 ......... This is when you get NVC case number.

Correct me Forum memebers if i am wrong...

    God bless u

    Jigi

Actually, both Jiqi and Sen/Neil are slightly incorrect. The NOA2 is a notification from the USCIS stating that your petition has been approved. For a CR1/IR1 case, it means your I-130 has been approved. Then your file gets sent to the NVC, not the embassy, for more processing. Please read the guide for a nice overview of the process, then hang out in the NVC forum. It'll be very helpful!

It took about 3 weeks between NOA2 of our I-130 and assignment of a case number from the NVC. You can find out on the automated system when your NVC case number has been generated using your USCIS case number.

Good luck and congrats on your I-130 approval.

    :)

  5. It took a long time for my IV bill to reach me (the USC)-almost a month. It sat at the NVC for nearly 2 weeks before it was sent out. Knowing that I had to wait for it, because of that funky extra data at the end of our case number, was more frustrating. Maybe I'll crack the IV bill code in my spare time.

If you feel that your mail isn't getting to you, then call the NVC and ask them to resend you the IV bill.

  6. Swearing. And lots of pirate "arrrrrggggghhh"-ing too. And we're not even done at the NVC yet!

I agree that the wait would be *almost* tolerable if we knew when our interview would be.

  7. I'm sure that any of the CR1/IR1 folks who have been waiting since April for an interview would have been happy to take one of the interview slots. I wonder what the consulate does when someone cancels their interview? Go to Tims for an extra break??

  8. You're right Flames, I knew that but she did not. I find it funny when we know more about the process than the folks who are helping us through it.

She probably said that because Montreal tells NVC how many interviews they can accomodate and NVC schedules that many in. It's no help to us that Montreal apparently tells NVC that there are NO interviews to be had...

    We should start emailing Montreal.

I agree DJC. Once I get done at the NVC, I'm going to have an email all set up to send one email a day. And after waiting for 4 months, I'll start getting my senator and US rep involved.

I'm thinking that the squeaky chain gets oiled and if more of us start to squeak then they have to do something.

  9. I'm sorry CR1's....

Sorry I must have skipped your post, Liz.

Don't be sorry, we're insanely jealous, feeling left behind. We want to be celebrating too.

I think I speak for all of the CR1s when I say that I really am happy for you, I'm happy to hear that Montreal actually works, they haven't been sleeping and slacking off for half a year, but it's just kind of a sour lemon kinda happiness.

I agree with DJC, I'm really happy for all the K1/K3 folks who are getting their interviews. It does cheer me to know that even though the embassy is insanely slow, they are doing *something* to reunite families. I love hearing about K-visa folks who are so happy and excited to be moving down here! (I hope that the embassy will remember CR1/IR1 folks who are also waiting.) I think that we are all frustrated with the embassy for letting the wait times get so out of hand, and I wonder if there is something that all of us can do together to try and change how Montreal is doing their visas so that ALL families are reunited quickly.
