Our original interview was scheduled for March 19,2020 and 2 days prior they called us to inform that the offices were closing and postponing face to face contact until further notice. We were rescheduled about 4 and a half months later with the new date; August 26, 2020 (the day before my husbands birthday! :O).

We were asked to wait outside at tape marking the 6 foot distances along the building while people filed in to the security check in. We went to the right for the interview. It wasn't clearly labeled or signed or anything so I had to ask which direction was which. The waiting room had 3 or 4 of the rows of chairs pushed against the windows and taped off. They'd also taped off pretty much every other chair on the available seats with the exception of a few that were obviously together so couples could sit next to one another. We waited maybe 20-25 minutes with about 3 or four other couples before they called out my husband's name and we approached the window. The lady that helped us pulled out his file (the thing is MASSIVE!) and started going through it and signing pages or checking things off while she asked us the basic questions; when did you meet, when and where did you marry, who was there? I brought in our lease, bank statements, and a couple of other things for joint asset proof and gave them to her and she added them to the file.

She asked him all the important questions about whether or not he's a terrorist, would he engage in polygamy (and made a joke after the faces we made lol), etc. Then she asked us if we liked Charlotte and talked a little about the city we live in. She asked if we were going straight home after this or going out to explore Charlotte and made a couple of suggestions for what we should go do before returning. She said we were approved and we'd get the card in the mail in a few weeks! We received the card 2 and a half weeks later in the mail! :)

    Congrats!!!!

OK, so here are processing times for Newark.   Average days from Biometrics to Interview is 244.   We got our interview notice about 40 days in advance, so I'd say you're looking at 200 days from August 9...........looking like Feb/Mar of 2020.    These results are based off timeline information entered by VJ members.

Hi, I was adjusting from F-1 (filed in June). I couldn't tell that my case was treated differently than K-1 (besides I-130 filing in addition to I-485).

Oh yeah, I concurrently filed also. You filed in June and you got your GC already? really just hoping mine's this month!

what office are you working through?

Filed from Newark, NJ to Chicago. Got NOAs from NBC

  4. Hey everyone,

Filed mid July for AOS from F1 and still waiting on EAD / AOS.  Had biometrics on 08/09/19. It's like almost everyone who filed in July has gotten some form of response and I'm still stuck on Fingerprint review was completed. Any July F1 to AOS gotten a response yet after biometrics and are F1 cases treated diff from others or all AOS cases are treated the same? Case is at NBC.

    Hello...

    I am new here....

Currently on F-1 OPT. OPT expires October 13, 2017. On March, I married my U.S. citizen boyfriend.

We filed AOS and Travel documents on June 30, 2017.

A month ago, I have been notified by my HR to present a new unexpired work permit to keep my employment.

I am anxiously waiting for news from USCIS regarding my EAD…..In 20 days I need to get my EAD card in hand. Otherwise, I might be jobless :((

Also, I have made flight reservation and plan to go back to my county to have a wedding at the end of December!!

I am super worried if I do not get my combo card soon. My job…my wedding… ARGHH

Does anyone here have the same job situation as mine? What should I do/ my employer does in this situation?

Can I still be working WITHOUT PAY (more like a volunteer job) after my OPT expires if my employer let me does that until I get my EAD? What’s y’all recommendation? I just feel bad to my employer because I have not worked for a year yet, and will be taking leave for wedding..  and plus I might need to take unpaid leaves for indefinite time until I get my EAD

    Here’s my timeline

    30-Jun-2017

    Filed AOS package

    5-Jul-2017

USCIS received fingerprint fee for I-485

    6-Jul-2017

    Received I-797 Receipt Notices

    15-Jul-2017

    Received Appointment for Biometrics Notice

    26-Jul-2017

Received RFE Notice (I-131A. Somehow lawyer forgot to send it together with I-485). Sent the I-131A on Sept 28.

    3-Aug-2017

    Did Biometrics

    8-Aug-2017

    RFE was received by USCIS

    11-Sep-2017

    Called USICS to expedite EAD/AP

    12-Sep-2017

USCIS: Expedite request was assigned to an officer. Referral ID: T1*****.

We sent a response to your request to have your case expedited.

Another update: your request to have your case expedited was completed

    18-Sep-2017

Called USCIS regarding the expedited case status. Told me they sent an email requesting proof of severe financial loss on September 13. But I did not get the email. So turned out there was a misunderstanding in communication. Officer whom I spoke with on Sept 11 misspelled my email address.

    20-Sep-2017

Sent a fax to congressman regarding EAD case

Hi..kinda like in the same situation. To summarize, pending application for OPT extension(180 days about to be up) and also pending AOS EAD application. Would like to know if you were able to work while your EAD was pending or you just waited till you got it. Were you also able to renew your license if you had one? thanks.

  6. Hi all,

So here's my situation: I applied for OPT extension and waiting for response. Used the notice of action which automatically extends for 180 days to continue working and also renewed my driver's license (extended 180 days). Got an RFE and responded. Now I recently filed for AOS concurrently with new I-765 and others(same time I responded to the RFE) and I have biometrics appt soon but my 180 days is almost up meaning DL is also about to be expired. Question is 1) I'm unsure if I can renew my license or extend for additional 180 days with the new NOA for I-765 since its under a diff category. Would that be possible?; and 2) Is it also possible to continue working after the 180 days and does the new NOA for I-765 also extend that for additional 180days, and will working be considered legal or valid?

Any thoughts or suggestions please? Thanks!
