  1. Your presence is not really required. She would be just fine. However, if you want to provide moral support, then that is different.

Guys: Please advice me what to do. Should I go to India to be with my fiancee? Her interview is on May 12. So, I have still enough time to decide.

If I go, then she will feel more confident. I can help if there is any problem. I will feel good as well making sure that everything went well. At the least, I will not regret latter.

On the other hand, I am not sure if my presence really help. Is it worth spending the time and energy? I have to explain my company, and they may not be happy if I take leave.

I hope this question applies to lot of people and would like your advice and thoughts.

  2. Thanks for the info guys...

I had another quick question that is somewhat related. When can we apply for SSN for my spouse?

Biometrics are done at the local offices. When comparing timelines for biometrics, you should only compare times for the same local office as work loads and schedules vary widely.

I did not know we could compare timelines for biometrics. Is there a website that shows this info?

VJ - look at the timelines of those doing or completed AOS at the same local office.

  3. Hi friends -

We filed our I-485 and I-765 and have a receipt notice of Jan 31st 2008. However. we have not received our biometrics appointment notice as yet. We called USCIS but they say that our application is pending and it is too early to receive any biometrics appointments. From what I see on this forum, most applicants who have applied in the time-frame we did, they have already completed their biometrics. I am a bit worried. What should I do???

    Any advice???

    Thanks.

  4. I have tried DHL and it has reached in 3 days. They are expensive too.

I used FedEx whenever I wanted something to definitely arrive within 3 days and be safe. It is very expensive but worth it for peace of mind. USPS was much less expensive and also reliable, but it took about a week to arrive.
  5. I had a quick question for everyone - my wife got her K3 visa approved and she is already in the US with me. After she came here we had to move this week because of my job. I was getting ready to start filing her papers for AOS, but I wasn't sure of the procedure to let USCIS know of our change in address. What do I need to do? File AR-11? Call USCIS? Or do I just file the AOS papers with the new address?

    Thanks.

  7. My wife's K3 interview just got over and her visa was approved! Yey

She entered the consulate at 7:30am and they finger-printed her and returned all the originals that VFS had taken. They took I-134, empl. letter, bank stmts and Tax Returns for 2006.

She waited until 9:30am after which they started calling interview candidates.

Then a Chinese lady asked the following questions-

    Who is calling?

    What does he do?

    What is his name?

Where did you go for honeymoon?

Then the lady said Ok, you are done. My wife asked if they will call her again and the lady said that her visa is approved, she can go and her passport will be mailed. To which my wife said that she would like to pick up her passport form VFS office. So the lady wrote something in her file and asked to pick it up from VFS at 5pm.

I cannot imagine this was such a breeze! Thank you God.. You are GREAT!!!

  8. thanks guys. I got an email from the new delhi embassy.. my husband was issued a visa on Monday   thank you God thank you.

how long does it take to receive the passport via courier. again thanks.

Hey neel, congrats!!! Thats great news. My wife is at the consulate for her interview right now. I am really nervous.

  9. What is the best way to verify the case has been transfered/received by the Mumbai consulate (email/phone... etc)? My case was just updated on NVC Automated System as being completed. Hope someone can fill me in please as I've seen some posts that seem like they had access to DHL tracking of some sort.

Also ras001 where did you go exactly to pickup the Packet 4 and how did you know it was ready for pickup?

The link below explains very well how you can track when your case reaches the Consulate -> http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72919

When you call DOS they can tell you if your Packet3 was logged in the system. Once it is, I'd wait 2-3 days (if you go next day they might say we have mailed it to you and ask you to wait) and then go pick up Packet4 from Mumbai Consulate's Information Window any working day between 9:30am-11am. Just tell them that you have not received Packet4 and they will give you another copy (including your interview letter).

  10. Hi friends-

Our interview is next week on Dec 20th at Mumbai Consulate. I am really nervous and apprehensive... any pointers/tips to keep in mind before the interview?

Hoping things go well. Wish us luck.

    Thanks.

  11. To find out if my wife's approved K3 had been delivered in Mumbia, I called DHL. There are threads about this, however, they deal with using DHL's online tracker. That no longer works (or it didn't a few months ago anyway). So, call them and they will help you out.

You can also just email Mumbai Consulate and they will tell you if they received the package or not. Read their auto-reply to your email CAREFULLY as it contains instructions on how to REALLY send email that will reach a real person and not their automated system. In the past, it said you have to use specific text in the subject line. As always, include your BMB number (you can get that from NVC).

    Vikasp,

Thanks for sharing the above info.

Mumbai consulate has replied to my email telling me that they have mailed out packet 3 on Nov 19th but my wife still hasn't received it as of 11/27/07. They also added in the email that we can print a "duplicate" off their website. So, my wife and I have decided that we will give it another day or two but then we will print one off their website and mail it to them proactively, esp since they state in their email to me that they are awaiting OUR response to their packet 3 mailed out to us. Anyways, my papers will be with my wife in a day or two so we are going to wait for that to happen and if we still haven't received their "official" packet 3 then my wife will just proactively mail it out from her side with all the necessary forms in it.

Hope this helps others going thru Mumbai. Good Luck.

    Hey guys,

DO NOT wait for packet3 to arrive in the mail... there is a chance it might never come. Ours never did. We proactively downloaded the forms and gave them to Mumbai Consulate and I think I probably saved atleast a few weeks. This has a direct impact on your interview date since the consulate needs DS-230 filled out to assign an interview date for your case. I would also say that - once you give packet3 to Mumbai Consulate, call DOS and find out if Mumbai Consulate has processed it and then go pick up packet4 from them as well instead of waiting for it in the mail.

    Regards.

  12. hi,

I guess they need it for their own records , or may be the supporting Docs NVC has stopped sending or they r getting late . and for K3 I think we have to submit I134 and for IR/CR case we have to submit I864

Please check consulate website again or email them again

    Jigi

It seems to me that Mumbai Consulate is requesting I-864 even for K3 cases now. My wife has her K3 interview on Dec 20th and she asked at the Inquiry counter about Affidavit of Support and which form to submit for the same and she was told to submit I-864. I just mailed her the signed form just to be on the safe side. The other supporting documents required for I-864 are pretty much the same i.e. Tax Transcripts, Empl. Letter, Bank stmts, etc.

  13. Hi friends-

I have applied for a K3 visa for my wife and her interview is scheduled on Dec 20th and she needs to submit her papers to VFS in the next few days. I have a bit of confusion -

My wife had picked up packet4 from Mumbai Consulate and the documents required list I-134 as affidavit of support. However, when packet4 came in the mail it said to submit form I-864 as affidavit of support to VFS.

Which one is correct??? Please help!
