    Yes, (c)(9) as a new card (not a renewal) for an EAD based on a pending I-485.

    You don't, but if you leave the US you abandon your asylum claim, so you cannot work when you come back. If you apply for a combo card, you switch from working on your asylum EAD to working on your AOS EAD. These cards are in different categories, and are not interchangeable.
     
    The application for both I-131 and I-765 is free for you assuming you have your NOA1 from I-485.
