whats the update?
It's still in Administrative Processing Non-Immigrant status. It's just that the "Case Last Updated" date changed from May 16, 2019 to August 22, 2019. It was very frustrating and confusing for months for why our "Case Last Updated" was not changing.

Wow, for the first time since May 16th, the CEAC status has finally been updated!

My fiance & I went for my interview to Mumbai Consulate on 16 May 2019. At the interview, my visa was approved but when I went to collect my passport, it was on AP. The consulate also sent a questionnaire, asked for resume, publications details, transcripts, etc. We sent the documents in a hurry and made a mistake (typo) in the case number and sent an old resume. We received automatic confirmation for that email. We, later on, sent a corrected email but we didn't get any confirmation automatic response for that. We have contacted the support-india team too but no help. Please suggest. Thank you
On Monday we received an e-mail from the consulate that our administrative processing was complete and to submit our passports. Lord willing, we're praying it will result in a visa issuance very soon.

We have been on AP since January and I have been so overwhelmed with these people. I am beyond tired of all of this waiting and waiting. I just need answers so we can go on to the next step. I feel like I want to scream.
Have they sent any communications for follow-up documentation?

Wow! That totally sucks. This uncertain feeling is killing me. Because, I do not know what to expect!
Are there any red flags in your case? Age difference? Religion? Etc..
No age difference or difference in religion. The follow-up documents requested were a questionnaire, resume, list of my publications and professional references. The questionnaire was extensive asking for addresses for previous 15 years and social media accounts. It may have been related to my National Security background, however, we don't really know for sure. It may be a few months before we hear anything else.

I’m sorry to hear that! I, too, wish that I knew what was going on. Have been in AP since March and NO updates. Still being positive.
This is the latest email we got from them.
Greetings from the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai.
Your application remains refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for mandatory administrative processing. Unfortunately, we cannot expedite or give an estimated timeframe. U.S. immigration law requires that additional steps be completed in some cases before a file can be reconsidered for adjudicative review. We appreciate your patience.
Please be assured once again that we will contact you as soon as the processing of your case is complete. You can also check the status of your visa at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/.
Sincerely,
Consular Information Unit

Hi guys!
i was issued 221g on March 20 during my interview for CR1(Spouse of US citizen).
i submitted all the documents they asked for on March 26. Next day the status changed to case under AP. Ever since no updates and also the date of the status is not changing. It still says case under administrative processing date March 27.
can anyone suggest what’s happening here? I’m afraid that they just put my case on the side and not touching it at all.
I called VFS India they said it’s under administrative processing. I also emailed Mumbai consulate yet no response. The auto generated msg said I will hear back in 1-2 business days.
Thanks in advance.
What did they ask for?

AP is a hell hole for everyone.
My fiance did his interview in January and he was told he was approved and they gave him a piece of paper as well and also they took his passport we believe that it was over and we made plans. Little did we know that there's another six months of processing after that minimum..
They do not tell you but the issue is or what they are doing they could be doing simple paperwork or they could be doing extreme vetting and investigations on you and your family and your fiance for example I already contacted my senator and lawyers and I also contacted the embassy by me flying all the way over here to be able to talk to the consulate and I get the same news every time we just have to wait..
But rest assure I believe almost 99 % of immigrant applicants go through AP.

30 days doesn't alarm me for India. It means they are adjudicating your case. Nothing more. There is nothing you can do. Calling isn't going to help nor emailing. Sit tight and check into ceac for current status.
😲 Okay. This is horrible & crippling. Thank you for replying.

A visa is never approved until the embassy has ISSUED a visa and it is jn your hands. Every embassy in their instructions will tell this. Here is an example.
Please be advised that no advance assurance can be given as to when or whether a visa will be issued. You should NOT give up your job, dispose of your property, or make any final travel arrangements until you receive your passport with the visa.
You must comply with your 221(g) and once submitted you'll need to wait. For how long you ask. No one knows with any certainty when your visa will be issued. We have seen 1 to 2 weeks, 1, 2, or 3 or more months. India is not a fast moving embassy for this new status you find yourself.
I've been waiting for 30 days now. Even if it shows non-immigrant AP. It doesn't mean anything?

Hi
My Fiancee had interview last week. She was given 221G. No other documents asked and case status is now 'Administrative Processing'
How long does it take to clear AP. What should next step we should take
Please advise
Thanks
I had my interview on 16th may 2019 at the Mumbai consulate. The visa officer said it was approved at the interview. When I went to pick up my passport, 221g letter was given with no visa. The ceac status shows that case was created on 16th may & case updated on 16th may. It shows non-immigrant AP. They asked for my CV, publications details, work history, transcript, questionnaire. We had to cancel our ticket, etc. This is a horrible phase. Trusting Jesus. Please help. What do you think?

Change to nonimmigrant status is a good sign. It means the CO was satisfied with your documents. Now normal administrative processing, if all goes well, hopefully it will change to issued soon
Mine is also in the same category. They asked for my CV, publications, work history, questionnaire. I had my interview on 16th May at the Mumbai consulate. Now they keep saying administrative processing.

Hi, is there something special about your situation due to which they would ask for that? Resume, transcripts, etc is not on the list of documents to bring to the interview. They ask for educational details on the DS160 form, and we did provide that. Please advice. I am preparing for my fiance's interview on June 7th. Thank you in advance.
I think it's because of my work history. I had worked on technological innovation & national security issues (defence, nuclear, etc). But all of them were theoretical studies. I didn't specify that they were purely theoretical in nature. I just got a PhD too in strategic studies. It might have come under the technological alert list (tal).
