  1. Good Day VJers. I would like some feedback. My passport expired in 2020 and I renewed it and have a new one. Due to Covid19, the case was delayed dramatically. Should I bring my new passport to the interview along with the old one:

    a. without sending an update on CEAC website under the "other' category of civil documents

    b. submit the document on CEAC website under the "other' category of civil documents

If you have any experience with this I would greatly appreciate it. My interview is in ABU DHABI

Oh ok, you’ll be fine. Just be confident and smile. You know your wife better than anyone, so think of the interview as having a conversation with someone as if you are introducing her. Good luck and keep me posted.

I'll update this thread as soon as the interview is done. I appreciate your feedback.  You have kinda helped to calm me a bit

Please do, bring pictures, screenshot of audio and video calls, chats, receipts of gifts you gave to each other, money transfer receipts etc. It’s okay to be over prepared instead of under prepared. Are you a resident of UAE?

We are both residents here. We lived 3 years in China together Married after 1st year and 2 years in UAE together. She is here with me and our children. In both countries only I was on the lease because they don't usually allow two people leases. We don't do video calls because we have lived together the whole time but we have texts and emails here and there

You can upload documents under ‘other’ category, it’s called backloading. Lot of people who interviews in the MENA countries do that. I uploaded chats and video call logs after I got DQ. So you have two passports? One that you renewed in August and the old one expires in January? Upload the new one on CEAC. It will save you a headache.

Ok. I will sort out the PCC, then the Medical this week. I have a call with my lawyer tomorrow,  so I will inquire about backloading. But I will do it either way. I want to be as prepared as I can be. We have two kids and married 4 years almost, do I need to bring proof of relationship to the interview?  Like texts emails pictures?

To be honest, I have good reason to request the expedited service.  But since my wife and I as well as our kids are united in the UAE. The wait is not as unbearable.

i just wish that there was communication coming out of the Embassy. Also the whole country is up and running but the embassy remains closed for routine family based immigration services.

You can request an emergency interview for spouse/child of US citizen. Some will say you cannot but I did. We got put in AP in the end but still was at least able to get the interview :)

COVID 19 and family separation during a pandemic .. lost my job and claimed I needed my husband in the US so we could recover from severe financial loss and was unable to travel back to him at the time as his country shut down inbound flights.

got approved... but now in AP so I don’t even think it was worth it :(

If all accepted, you should get an email with your immigrant visa case becoming *Documentarily qualified*

I received the "Case FE Review note"  but the documents were all changed to ACCEPTED. Am I missing something or is this supposed to say "DOCUMENTARY QUALIFIED". The email we received also didn't state that we will be moved to a consulate or anything of that sort.

In messages: Obviously we cannot open it because of the CEAC website and its issues.

If you have been married for 2 or more years at the time the visa is issued, you will get an IR-1 visa.

If you enter the US on the immigrant visa after the 2 year marriage anniversary, you will enter with IR-1 status (even if you have a CR-1 visa).

Both cases would grant a 10 year green card.

When you filed the petition doesn't matter.

Thank you so much. I guess no one else needs to answer now. Awesome.

  9. We started our process in March 2019. Which is 3 months shy of our 2nd anniversary.  We are 'projected' to receive the NOA2 by end of February (fingers crossed) which brings the NOA2 date to 4 months shy our 3rd anniversary. We have 2 children both conceived during marriage.  Is there a good chance that my initial GC will be 10 years or a 2 year conditional? We are pretty much fed up with this whole process and would love to not go through it again in any capacity.
