Congratulations!!!!! Very well deserved!!! I know from your messages that you fought a lot!

I have a quick question. You were a combo filer and your I751 case had been transferred to NBC, right?

In addition to all the tips that you gave us (sending e-requests, contacting Congressmen, filing with Ombudsman) did you do anything extra that can help us?

How did you move your Removal of Conditions that was stuck in the NBC before the interview? when your estimated day count went down to zero, how long were you in the "it's taking longer than expected"?

    I really appreciate your help.

    Congratulations and go to celebrate!!!!

    :)

I did not do anything extra for my case. I already shared with you what I did, but it took months for them to look at my case and email me back to say 'both cases will be adjudicared at the same time' When the countdown time went down to 4 days, I got scheduled. The interview i has was a combo one; they approved both cases right after the interview.

I consider myself very lucky, because I dont see any other combo filers at the interview.
There are combo filers applying way before me (in June, July, one in April last year) and having to wait for the interview still.

    I wish you good luck!

I have no idea where the money is going and why Seattle office is so understaffed compared to many other offices. The money could be going to things like denaturalization forces. Their average case processing rate per hour also significantly decreased over the last 2 years. Worse yet, they combo'ed my I-751 and N400 while the local office isn't doing combo interviews. If it wasn't the N400 holding my I-751 I probably would have been approved by now. I filed I-751 more than 2 years ago. I don't want to sound presumptuous but how am I not going to think that they deliberately do this to immigrants like us so they don't have to give us a 10-year green card so that our statuses remain vulnerable longer? This administration's views on immigration are reflected on each one of the policy changes, big or small. It's not that hard to put two and two together.

I totally agreed. It really hurts to know that they are doing this to us immigrants. After all, we came here legally and sincerely seek happiness being reunited with our family here. But the long wait and all this vulnerability put on us are not fair. It's a very stressful journey and I never wish this stress on my worse enemy. At this point I don't know what to expect any more. I just can't believe Seattle office is this bad, the city is a good city, the state is also a blue state... I don't get it.

Did all the combo filers get separated interviews? What is causing Seattle office to change their policy if they had been doing it for so long without a problem? I mean hearing this is absurd because all other offices do combo interviews. What Seattle office is doing is unacceptable. Not only that it's not processing cases in time, it's also deliberately delaying combo filers.

Worst case you can consider using legal help.

I guess it is the only thing combo filers could do at this point. I don't know why Seattle office is this bad. Seattle is a good city and welcoming to immigrants. I don't know why .

Damn. Sorry to hear that. What are they gonna do now if they cancelled your N400 and aren't willing to schedule you for I-751. Honestly did this whole BS just start? I mean isn't the whole purpose of them holding our I-751s to combine them together for the interview? This is is not working. They need to figure it out. If they can't do combo, they need to do your i-751 like NOW.

It all started in 2016. After the election people started applying for N-400 and so all uscis offices are all backlogged and Seattle is one of the worst offices in the nation. Then they implemented new policies to make the wait go from months to years. Recently they are proposing a new law to increase the fee to file N-400 from $685 to roughly $1200, and so people are applying like crazy too for fear the fee would increase even more. USCIS can’t handle all the cases, they f Up because of this reason. So things will always be worse from now on, not better. I know a few combo filers who waited way longer that I do. I suggest those people to talk to their lawyers and make actions to push the Seattle office to change, because this is not acceptable. They lied to me before too, they said it was ok to apply with a pending i-751 because with the wait time in seattle my i-751 will be approved before N-400, way before that. Then they said, oh sorry, we are going to combine the two cases now (to save time and money). But we paid $680 for the I-751, and $720 for the N-400! We paid for it, and it wasn’t processed. Now they are telling me we are not doing combo interview any more, N-400 can’t be processed with I-751 pending, but we don’t know if we could schedule your i-751 interview. #######? I’m so pissed and so stressed. I swear if I had the power to go back in time, I would never never ever listen to USCIS officers and would have waited to get my I-751 processed first. Now I am in a limbo with no way of knowing what’s next for my fate here in this country. This is just sad. I did not do anything wrong here.

What happened? Are they not doing a combo interview for you?

They said they don’t know. They scheduled me for my n-400 then said my n-400 can’t be adjudicated without my I-751 being approved, but they said “we can’t schedule you for the i-751 interview, it’s not what we could decide” bullshit. What does that tell ya

If I could go back in time, I would slap my old self for 500 times very very hard and said screw N-400, just wait for I-751. Too late now. I have done everything I could from contacting house representative, senator, to the ombudsman service. They can’t help.

So one lesson for you guys, paid at my own expenses. DO NOT FILE FOR N400 WITH A PENDING I-751. DO NOT DO THAT.

I am a combo filer. I saw a lot of folks are still waiting for the interview. I just wanted to share my experience about how Seattle office handled my case. I filed my I-751 in December 2016 and N-400 in January 2018. I was originally scheduled for a combo interview in February 2019. Then the interview got descheduled. They told me Seattle office doesn’t do the combo interview anymore. They need to approve I-751 before they approve N-400. So I have waited until Mid September 2019 for the I-751 interview. My interview got approved and I received my 10 year green card in October. Now I’m still waiting to get my N-400 interview scheduled.

I will keep you updated on my case. Really hope they don’t deschedule my case but if they do I’ll just go ahead and kill myself lol. I’m tired of not belonging anywhere and in constant fear of losing everything I have.

Can you share your experience with the senator? Did you call their office directly? Any info is much appreciated!!

Look up Pauli Murray senator office, fill out immigration case request information then turned it in online. They took months to give me an answer for my case, I would say they are not the best but you need to start as soon as possible for assistance.

Hi Felicie. What is the Ombudsman office?

Did you complain/email.do anything special regarding your I751?

Mine has been stuck in Lee's Summit since December 2018. I filed an two e-requests without any answer!

    Thank you,

    g

You can file a complaint with the Ombudsman office. I filed one back in April and it took them a while to get back to me. Then with the senator recently and got help last week. I think because I pushed them they helped me get an interview for N-400 while most combo filers are still waiting for the interview (June, July filers are still waiting). So you could look into that but need to act fast.

I had to wait for them to upload it and  then I got a copy in the mail.  Sounds like if it's not a jr officer you can get your letter before you leave though... which is awesome. Easier said than done, but try not to stress out about the wait... things will work out in the end.

Thank you! I just got a notice from the Ombudsman office that said my i751 will be processed at the time of my N400 interview.

So finger crossed, hope everything is O.K

    This was my timeline:

My interview was Feb 28, Got the email about oath scheduled on 3/8 (letter didn't post till 3/11), oath was 4/11.

I understand the disappointment, but having an earlier appointment doesn't mean you'll have the same day oath.  Mine was at 8AM and unfortunately I got a junior officer who couldn't approve the same day oath.

Did they give you the oath letter at the interview, or did they tell you to go home and wait for the oath date to be posted?

I am so worry about this interview. It looks like a lot of combo filers like me (that filed before me) were not scheduled and had to wait forever. I want to know if the N-400 interview that I get is good. It's such a stressful journey I just want to get it done and get it over with. Not having a green card and having to wait for this isn't fun. Not at all.

Same day oath won’t happen in my case, I just hope it is not too far away, because I do have travel plans later in late December and early January. Arrgghh this is stressful. I just got on the phone with a tier 2 officer she said it would be a combo interview

Happened to a close friend of mine too. They will ask you what dates you can come in for the oath. You get to pick and choose.

Really can we pick a date to come in for the oath? I thought we don’t get to choose. When did your friend apply and was it in the Seattle office?

    Hi Felicie,

first of all, congratulations for your interview date. I got a question for you- did it go estimated wait time down to 0 day before scheduling interview?

It went down to 3 days, then the interview notice.

He got scheduled for Dec. 5th.  I hope he gets same day oath, but his interview is at noon (I can't remember what time the afternoon oath is), and he may end up with a jr officer like I did.

I think if he is interviewed before 10:30am then he is likely to get same day oath. But if its a later time then probably will take the oath a week after.

Do you know any September filers that got scheduled for an interview?
