There's no receipt for the I-944, like there's no receipt for the 864. They're supporting documents, not applications.
The did send me an RFE requesting the I-944 back in August. They said if the I-944 was not filed at that time that the application would be null and void basically.

IIRC, USCIS was rejecting applications that did not properly file I-944 back in Aug/September 2020, just after the injunction for the new public grounds rule was stayed.
@praisejourney, per your case status your I-485 was rejected and fee returned. Check to see if USCIS cashed your payment. Also, call USCIS to inquire about it.
The automated USCICS phone line doesn't not let you talk to a representative. It just hangs up on you if you ask for customer support. Yeap exactl! In August 2020 was when I got the RFE which I replied to. Why would they just now tell me about my form being mailed back in August 2020 and then the next day send me a Bio Metrics appointment date? This is like the exact status I had before the "RFE Received" status message.

I-944s are being discarded as far as I am concerned because even though I filed that in February, they omitted a receipt for I-944, but all the other forms. So this might be why your case status looks like it did before you sent that RFE about I944. Maybe call the USCIS number for some answers.. good luck
Exactly! That is what I heard too that the I-944 are being discarded. Many thanks!

We had something happen to us that is very unusual today. Back in August 2020 we got an RFE for the I-944 which I resubmitted. Our case status was set to "RFE Received" for the longest time. Now our case status is showing as the follows,
"My Case Was Rejected Because it Was Improperly Filed.
In August 2020, we rejected your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence because it was not filed correctly. We mailed your case back to you, including any supporting materials and fee"Is this something to be worried about? Any other I-944 RFE filers run into the same issue? We already replied to the RFE back in August. What's also interesting is on the same day we received an interview date for our EAD.

A lot people received an RFE for the I-944 and have sent it back in. Visa Journey does not have a field on the timeline to report when the RFE was sent in. As a result, I am getting wild estimates. Last week it said it would be approved in April. Now it is saying December 2021. Please add this field so we can get more accurate estimates. Many thanks!

For the bank statements did you include your entire statement history, or just the first page of each month? I feel like including 12 months of entire bank history is an invasion of privacy.
That is a super good question! I personally gave them the last 12 months with the detail. What did everyone else do on theirs?

The I-944 requires the financial information of the immigrant, not the petitioner. You need to send the immigrant's tax returns or transcripts (if any), bank statements, list of assets and liabilities.
Because it was not required back in August. But there was a court ruling in September that made the I-944 retroactively required for all who filed for AOS after February 24, 2020.
That is true, at that time it wasn't required. Thanks Chancy!

what kind of insurance you have? is that mandatory? we'll have soon interview
Other VJ members can correct me if I am wrong. But in terms of the I-944, it helps in building a case of proving self sufficiency. It's not an absolute requirement though to have that I am aware of. Would others agree?

For those who sent their applications when i-944 was banned, did you get NOA1 and/or RFE????
did you case get approved?
since i-944 has now came back, they are going to issue RFE. i was wondering if there is anyone who got lucky and didnt get RFE or rejection.
I filed in August and received an RFE letter on November 12th. One of the most difficult documents to obtain is birth certificates for your children, so if you don't have them order them now and avoid delay.

Pretty much it is just for form I-944. I don't believe it is a requirement but gives added support to be self sufficient. Others can correct me if I am wrong. That is just how I interpreted it.

Can someone help me verify the list of evidence that is needed for the I-944. So far I have the following:
1. Beneficiary’s Form I-944
2. Beneficiary’s Health Insurance Policy on Letterhead
4. Beneficiary’s Credit Report
5. Beneficiary’s Proof of No Credit History – Experian
6. Beneficiary’s Proof of No Credit History - Equifax
- Petitioner’s Most Recent Tax Return
- Petitioner’s Mortgage Statement
- Petitioner’s Home Value Statement
- Petitioner's Last 12 months bank statement
- Petitioner's Child Support Statement
There is no public benefits to list. Any other evidence you can think of that I need. Originally they told me on the forum I didn't need to file an I-944 back in August however, now I received a letter saying it is required.
For anyone reading this thread looking for similar information. Make sure to also go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/index.action and where can print out your Credit Report for free.

It's interesting to because they switch between the immigrant and house members. So even if the immigrant does not have a tax return, they still need proof of income from a household member's tax return.

The I-944 instructions say (page 5):
"You must provide an IRS transcript(s) of your Federal income tax returns for the most recent tax year and the IRS transcript(s) of the household members whose income you are including."
If the immigrant is including the income of the petitioner (which is very likely for a K-1 from the Philippines), then they will need the petitioner's tax transcript as well.
Thanks Jon! You are always a great help! Finally got this one filed.

" Beneficiary’s Health Insurance Policy on Letterhead" what does it means?
I just sent the requirements to my health insurance provider and then sent me a letter (on letterhead) stating that my wife is covered. I also included a printed out of the plan's coverages.

Ok so that is what happened with the courtruling. For the bank statement though it sounds like the bank statement for the household. Can you confirm?

Did you provide your marriage certificate and petitioner's tax transcript with your I-864?
Some other things you might need, depending on your situation, are here:
https://learn.simplecitizen.com/immigration-support/form-i-944-required-supporting-documents/
Yes I submitted both but I will submit them again just to make sure.

If they are her children, then definitely yes: "Your children (under the age of 21 and unmarried) physically residing with you;"
If they are her spouse's children, then still yes: "The term child includes stepchildren and adopted children, as provided in INA section 101(b)(1)."
(page 4 of https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-944instr-pc.pdf)
Ok that is what I was thinking also. I will definitely include them.
-
If my wife (the beneficiary), doesn't not pay support directly to the kids (because she does not work) do we we still include them on the I-944. I the petitioner support the kids. Let me know. Thank you!
This form is confusing because it keeps switching between the beneficiary and the household. Ahhhh!

Look at following part of I-131 row: "Applicants who filed USCIS Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007, and before [INSERT EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE FINAL RULE] and paid the Form I-485 fee"
Look at following part of I-765 row: "An applicant who filed USCIS Form I-485 on or after July 30, 2007 and before [INSERT EFFECTIVE DATE OF 2018/2019 FEE RULE] and paid the Form I-485 filing fee."
Assuming OP files the I-485 before October 2, 2020 and pays the full I-485 fee then all C9 EAD and/or AOS-based AP filings will be free for OP.
Yes. Even renewals are free if I-485 is filed before October 2, 2020 and full I-485 fee was paid.
Thanks again HRQX for all of your help!!!

I am just going to take a chance and mail it in and see what happens. I will send the the cashiers check copy and the FedEx tracking number. Hopefully that will work.
