  1. I’m taking a trip in June with my husbands family to Ireland. I am currently adjusting my status (after coming in on a k1). I have my EAD/AP card and I have used it once before after going on a cruise a few weeks ago.

The airline (American) is asking for passenger details to be filled out in order to be ready to check in for the flight. When I put in my Canadian passport and a US address, it asks for the additional info shown in the photo.

Does anyone know what I should put here? AOS case #? K1 info (even though it’s expired now?) EAD card info?

    thanks for any advice!

I can't share any experience but I'm curious of the outcome. Please keep us posted.

So for anyone who is interested, I was able to go to SSA today and get it sorted out! I was already married when I got my first ssn, but at the time the lady said I had to get it in my maiden name to match my visa (which was apparently incorrect, it should’ve been in my new name). So since my name didn’t match the existing card, it didn’t flag and tell them to issue a replacement rather than a new card, so I mistakenly got a whole new one. She ‘retired’ the new one so it’s no longer active and I will be issued a new card with my new name and the original number! It sucks that we had to wait 1.5 hours in the waiting room today but at least it was a pretty easy fix!

  3. When I moved here on my K1 visa in November, when filing my AOS/EAD/AP documents I requested to get a Social security number card with the EAD. I wasn’t sure at that point whether I would be going to the office to get my SSN sooner or wait for the EAD. I remember reading that if you requested one on the form but you already had one, they would just send you a replacement card. I then decided I wanted to get it sooner so I could have an SSN for banking, insurance, taxes (filed jointly), etc, so went to the SSA shortly after we got married and got my card. However, I just received my EAD/AP card in the mail yesterday (yay!!) but I also received a new SSN card which has a new number. I had understood it that I would get a new card with the same number, but now I’m worried because it seems I have been issued a completely new card! Guessing it would be because I had my maiden name on my old one (they wouldn’t let me get it in my new last name even though we were already married when I got it) and this new card is in my new married name? Planning to go into the SSA office next week and get this sorted out, but just wondered if anyone has had this happen to them and have any insight?

  4. Wanted to post my experience in case it can help anyone else!

I called last week (Monday) to request an expedite on my AP on the basis of severe financial loss (we have a wedding celebration planned in end of May). We had to call several times before we could figure out how to reach a person- we eventually reached someone by going through as though I was updating my address. Be prepared to provide an explanation as to how you qualify for one of the expedite requirements.

On Thursday I got an email requesting me to fax in proof, but then only a few hours later I got another email that said ‘Please ignore previous email. We received your request to expedite the decision on your application. Your case is currently under review. You will receive a decision or notice of further action shortly.’

I was really confused as to what this meant, because how could they be reviewing our case if we hadn’t been able to send in proof yet? Today I got the update on the old site for my EAD case number that my card is being produced! I saw from reading on here that most people only see the EAD case update when the combo card is being sent out, so our best guess is that they didn’t wait for our expedite proof because our case was already being looked at for regular processing times? VJ said we were passed due, but I guess we have no way of knowing whether the expedite request sped us up at all. Either way I am so relieved to finally see an update after 144 days!
