It seems you posted on a very old thread.  At any rate, if you have not met in person in the last two years, regardless of the circumstances, you will not be approved for a K1.  Even though COVID was an issue and you have a medical reason, your significant other must come to you or you both need to make arrangements to meet somewhere.  Visas such as the K1 will not be approved without meeting the requirement of meeting in the last two years.

  2. Can anyone tell me when traveling to the United States on a K1 visa with your fiance, can you remain together at the airport when going through customs or does he have to go through by himself since he is not a citizen? I have read different things. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It has been a while for us.  I believe they asked him when he was planning to marry me and the location.

Definitely keep in mind that Dominican Republic does get scrutinized a bit more than other places (like Argentina), so just be ready for either scenario.  They might ask him more things, question him longer, go into a separate room, etc.

What airport are you flying into?  We flew into Miami from Buenos Aires, Argentina and we went through the regular immigration line together - the same one I would have had to do as a USC coming back by myself.  When the officer asked for the envelope, we gave it to him, then he proceeded to have someone else escort us to the other place (like a bigger waiting room that is closed off) where they reviewed it.  We waited together until they called him up to a desk they had there, took like 5 minutes, then we left together.  But, it depends on the airport and the originating country you are coming from.

  4. Hello everyone my question is after my fiancé comes here in America when can I apply for him a Social Security card?

First of all, Congrats!  From our experience, we did it within a few days.  You need a valid i94 (which is generated after he enters the POE (Point of Entry) and you can print off online, but it is only available to print for about a week (7days)).  From what I've read, you should do it within 1-2 weeks of him arriving to avoid delays.  There are people that have waited and everything seemed fine and others that did it too early and encountered problems.  So, in other words, it depends on your personal preference and your local SSA office.  Another thing to keep in mind is that not having a SSN, which can take up to 4 weeks in getting after application if there are no issues, is that it can delay other paperwork such as submitting AOS.  So, the sooner you apply, the better so you can move on and submit things on time as you need.  Hope that helps!
