My wife traded her India license for an MD one. She took both the written and practical exam. If she had not traded her license, she would have had to take driving classes.

It might be too early -- but you can try emailing them. Ask them if they received your packet 4 -- they might just reply with your interview date

Use UPS. I sent a digital camera to my wife when she was there. It got there in 5 days. You have to decide: is saving $50 worth the hassle of lost documents?

If an immigrant's application for a residence visa has been waiting more than six months and the only missing piece is a name check to be performed by the FBI, immigration officers will be allowed to approve the application, according to a memo posted Monday on the Web site of the federal Citizenship and Immigration Services agency.

Your P3 list is complete.
While mail delivery may be slow, it did not cause us any delays. I do not see how you can go to the consulate to turn in your documents, though. There are guards outside and no entry is allowed unless you have an interview letter (or, I guess, if you are a USC with proof). We used regular registered mail which got to Mumbai from Surat in about 3 days.

Where exactly at the consulate do you submit the Packet 3? is there a particular office/department we go?
You mail or courier it to the address given in Packet 3.

Getting the visa isn't the only hurdle. If you even get the visa, you can be denied entry into the US at point of entry. I don't think it's worth the hassle. Just wait it out :-/

To find out if my wife's approved K3 had been delivered in Mumbia, I called DHL. There are threads about this, however, they deal with using DHL's online tracker. That no longer works (or it didn't a few months ago anyway). So, call them and they will help you out.
You can also just email Mumbai Consulate and they will tell you if they received the package or not. Read their auto-reply to your email CAREFULLY as it contains instructions on how to REALLY send email that will reach a real person and not their automated system. In the past, it said you have to use specific text in the subject line. As always, include your BMB number (you can get that from NVC).

The schedule isn't final. It can be updated anytime and new interviews can be scheduled even after the schedule is released. That's what happened to us.

The address change is something you will have to deal with later, but you don't really have a choice. Get the papers in.

Typically, it took them 1 night (i.e., I would email them during the day, they would email me back overnight). When you get that autoresponse from them, read it carefully. There's a part in there that says if you really need help, reply back to them with a specific string in the subject. And always include your BMB number when emailing.

Thanks. Since AP isn't required but they are taking the money from us anyway, I guess it's a good idea to file for AP.

My wife is here on a K3 visa and is about to file her AOS petition. I read in the K3 AOS FAQ that she does not need to file for Advance Parole since her K3 visa is a multiple entry visa. However, the new fee of $1010 for AOS includes Advance Parole.
How should she file this? Should she subtract the AP fee from $1010?
Is there another topic regarding this situation? (I tried searching for this but came up empty -- lack of a good search string, I guess.)

Doesn't sound too tough as your luggage tag usually has your address. But avoid BA and Heathrow -- the security lines, the silly rules -- all a nightmare.

My wife took 4400 during interview but was told to bring another DD for 4200 to the VFS office. It was a painless to do this since the Mumbai Consulate, State Bank, and VFS office are all on the same road but it did delay her getting her passport by a few days.
What should you do? Plan on a DD for 4200 but check the consulate website a few days before interview and take with you what they ask for.

You can schedule the medical at anytime, but will need the interview letter at the time of the appointment.
My wife is from Gujarat, and the medicals could only be done in Mumbai. So rather than doing two journeys to Mumbai, she went to Mumbai 4 days ahead of the interview, and got the medical done two days prior to the actual interview. She took her medical report with her to the interview.

I didn't do it -- found out it's not necessary as we have the marriage certificate. Visa will be issued in my wife's maiden name.
Also, my wife's last name before and after marriage are the same, so there's no need for a name change.
